Wow, that looks really great! When it goes on sale, what's the company name it will be listed under? I've got to get a copy of this!

Thanks Michael! It'll be listed under Ondine Publishing, and I'll be sure to post a note here when it's available ;)

You couldn't have picked to better artists in my opinion!

Glad to see this is proceeding. I love Byzantine history and think that time period and location is vastly under appreciated and underserved in the game universe despite the fact that many game worlds model the Byzantine eastern Med better than "traditional" medieval Western Europe.

Will you be selling the print/pdf bundle via any UK source? I don't really want to pay to ship from the US if possible.

thanks

Yep, through drivethrurpg.com – they use Lightning Source and print in the US & the UK ;)

Hi all,

It's been a long wait but my book, Parsantium: City at the Crossroads is now on sale in PDF & print. I'm very happy with how it's turned out :)

It's only at drivethrurpg.com at the moment, but the PDF will hopefully be available here on paizo.com in the next day or so.

Hope you all enjoy it!

Cheers

Rich

But you did not manage to buy before I bought it myself.

Mwahahahaha ?

Thanks guys - hope you enjoy it! And please let me know if you have any questions ;)

Cheers

Hi all,

Parsantium got it's first review and it's a great one! Megan Robertson, RPG reviewer extraordinaire, has given it 5 stars on drivethrurpg.com! :) You can read the review here.

I was also really thrilled to see sales of the book get off to a good start on Sunday night and Monday! Thanks to everyone who bought a copy ;)

If anyone has any questions about the book, please ask.

Cheers

Rich

Hi,

Parsantium is now on sale in PDF here at Paizo.com too ;)

Hi all,

Parsantium: City at the Crossroads has been on sale for a week now and I am thrilled with how well it has sold in the last seven days. The book has remained in the Hottest Small Press top 10 on drivethrurpg.com all week and is halfway to breaking even – not something I was expecting this soon!

I’m also really pleased at the positive reception the book has received – as well as a 5 star review on drivethrurpg.com, there have been favourable comments on social media and forums which I’ve really enjoyed reading. After working on Parsantium so long, it’s great to hear what others think of it.

This weekend we bought ISBNs from Nielsen so we can get the book set up with Lightning Source to make the print edition more widely available through games stores, booksellers and online retailers.

Thanks to everyone who has bought the book! I’d love to hear any comments or questions you have.

Cheers

Rich

Just spent the last week moving to our new house, or I would have bought it sooner. Will be ordering tonight. It'll be my first rpg delivery to the new digs.

Cool! Let me know what you think of it ;)

Just bought mine, hope I'll be able to leave a review sometime soon.

I reckon I'm gonna have to buy this, as it's darn similar to the homebrew city I'm basing my current campaign on, which is also Byzantium.

Hi all,

Now that Parsantium has been out of a couple of weeks, I’ve been thinking about writing some new material to support the book. Some of this new stuff will be blog posts or articles on parsantium.com but I am also considering some PDF-only supplements for sale on drivethrurpg.com and here at Paizo.

So, what would you like to read about? Vote in the poll here and/or let me know in this thread

Speaking of feedback, I was thrilled that Parsantium got another 5 star review this week :)

Cheers

Rich

I just purchased and downloaded the pdf. I'm very impressed! And I also wonder how you got into my head and used some of the very ideas I've used to create the city of Dar-Shalul in my current homebrew setting.. lol There's so much inspiration and ideas to be mined here for a quasi-Byzantium setting such as mine. Thanks for a great product!

The Exchange

Bought it yesterday, waiting for the print version but the PDF is very cool. I really enjoyed following your progress on your blog and the opportunity to give input was a nice move. I am still thinking about an adventure, perhaps the brave men of the palace of crystal have defeated the northern horde led by a very desperate man from the highlands, he was sent packing with his red devils?
Anyway good work Mr Green

Thanks so much - really glad you liked it!

Thanks - much appreciated! Doing the blog has been great fun and it seems like people enjoyed reading about the book as I wrote it ;)

I like the sound of your adventure..... If only the desperate man and his red devils could have been sent packing a week or so ago!

Hi all,

Jonathan Roberts has posted a low res version of his gorgeous full colour map on his G+ page

If you haven't bought the book yet, the PDF is 30% at drivethrurpg.com & RPGNow until 15th March as part of their GM's Day Sale here.

Cheers

Hi,

I've posted an update on how Parsantium is doing and what's next on the blog.

Picked this up last week.
The print copy arrived just two days from ordering!

Got my hard copy last week. If you were going to place this city somewhere in Midgard...where would you suggest?

Excellent! DrivethruRPG/Lightning Source are pretty quick ;)

For those of you that prefer to order your gaming stuff here at Paizo, you can now preorder the print edition and the print/PDF bundle here

Parsantium fits best in the Dragon Empires region at a place where trade routes converge.

The historical location of Byzantium has already been taken by the Mharoti capital, Harkesh, so one solution might be to put Parsantium at the end of the Sultan’s Road across the strait or in place of the ruins of Pharos.

Other options are on the Ruby Sea, either on the western side at the mouth of the River Argent, replacing Orkasa, or somewhere just outside the borders of the Mharoti Empire on its eastern shores. Alternatively, on the coast at the southeastern end of the Middle Sea, southwest of Prezhan and at the end of the road from Sarkland.

I'd love to hear about how people have used Parsantium in their Midgard campaigns!

Rich

Hi all,

It's taken long than I expected to get Parsantium set up with Lightning Source for printing in the US but it's now all sorted. Stock should be in the warehouse in the next week or so :)

For those of you interested in 13th Age, I've posted a couple of PC race write ups on the blog.

Cheers

Rich

Hi,

I ran a Parsantium game at the fifth annual UKDndtweetup (#UKT5), using the 13th Age rules, yesterday. Write up here.

Hi,

I've posted a new map of the wider world of Parsantium here

Rich, I got my print version a couple of weeks ago (usually I won't let myself look at a PDF before I get my hard copy, but I cheated here). Outstanding job on this! I keep it on the same shelf as my copies of Razor Coast, Slumbering Tsar, and Rappan Athuk. Which means I really, really like it.

Got the print version of this. Very interesting city. Glad I picked it up.

Hi,

I've posted some thoughts on what the new edition of D&D means for Parsantium on the blog, as well as a write-up of the Basileus as a 13th Age icon.

Any comments or questions?

Cheers

Rich

Providing stats for 13 Age, PF and 5E is a great idea. I hope you can do it! Ad in Labyrinth Lord or Swords and Wizardry and you've got all my bases pretty much covered! A great Icon article too, I have been underwhelmed by the stock Icons, maybe because they are generic enough to fit any campaign. The Midgard ones are much better, for example, IMO.

My thoughts on system compatibility. There are so many quality systems out there now that the new approach for 3pp has to be "spanning". Come up with great worlds, and great adventures and publish for multiple systems. Of course this requires work, and perhaps even design compromise, but to me seems to be the future for RPGs. I find myself frustrated that Paizo only publishes Pathfinder compatible adventures to be honest!

The software world has been re shaped by the web providing a common language. I think within reason a product could meaningfully be run on multiple RPG engines. Frog God for example produces two versions of most of their products.

One "cheaty" way to do this is to reference existing monster books for each system, only spending time with custom stat blocks for those foes that really matter.

Thanks! Glad you liked the icon article - I'm going to try and post one on the blog each week. Will let you know when the next one is up.

Thanks Alan. I need to give this some thought but my aim is to appeal to as many gamers as possible. Everyone I know is playing two or three different variants of D&D at the moment ;)

Hi all,
