Hi,
Some of you might know that I've been running a campaign set in the cosmopolitan city of Parsantium for some time. Parsantium is loosely based on a fantasy Byzantium with added Arabian, Indian and Chinese influences.
Since January I've been working on turning Parsantium into a decent-sized city sourcebook suitable for use with Pathfinder, D&D Next, 4e, and any other D&D edition/variant you like. The first draft is finished, weighing in at 88,000 words and I am planning to self-publish the book later this year, all being well.
If you're interested in learning more, please check out my website here
Cheers

It looks interesting. Since 1991 I've been running a homebrew with dabs of Eastern European, Indian, and Egyptian influences. Fantasy settings, at least for gaming, seemed to be too heavily reliant on Dark Ages or early Renaissance Western Europe for my tastes.
I look forward to seeing more. And the link to the names I already knew about, too! LOL

That's weird - I can still get to this post but it's not visible on the list for the "Compatible Products from Other Publishers" forum.
Has it moved?
EDIT: for some reason I can only see the post in the list when I am not signed in - bizarre! Even more bizarre, the list says there are 9 posts and I can only see 7! If you posted a question and I haven't answered it, post it again and maybe I'll be able to see it the second time around ;)

It sounds cool, will all editions be in one book or will you publish one for PF and one for 4th, most important of all where will I be able to get one and when? I love citysettings so I am excited already.
All one book - there are going to be almost no stats in it so everyone who plays D&D can use it easily.
I'm hoping to have it all done in the autumn and the plan is for it to be on sale here at Paizo, drivethrurpg.com etc and as a print on demand title.

Hi,
There's a new post on the blog, asking for your comments on the kind of art you like to see in city sourcebooks.

How are you going to make it compatible with more than one game system? Won't you be using up all the page space for large blocks of stats for multiple game systems?
This from upthread:

(I'm assuming by "D&D" Rich means D&D/PF or any similar fantasy RPG. Flavor over mechanics.)

Good question! There will be almost no game mechanics or stats in the book.
If you've seen recent WotC books like Menzoberranzan: City of Intrigue or Elminster's Forgotten Realms which are designed to be compatible with all editions of D&D, or the Pirate's Guide to Freeport from Green Ronin, that will give you a good idea of how I am doing it.

You got there first! That's exactly right ;)

Hi,
Quick update. I’ve had a busy few days revising the first draft of the text and also working out a “flat plan” with Kate to see how the text will fit the pages and where the interior art will go. As things stand, the text is 90,000 words and will fill 136 pages, making the book pretty meaty in size. I’ve revised over 25% text so am making good progress there.
The real exciting news, though, is that I have found an excellent artist for the cover and a fantastic cartographer to draw the map! Details to follow….

Hi,
I've posted an update on the blog about the cover ;)
What do you think makes a good RPG cover?

Because I've decided to use the OGL for the book and will be adding a "Pathfinder compatible" logo, I need to come up with a name for the dragon-like humanoids in the setting. There's a poll here.

Hi,
Now that everyone is back from GenCon I thought I'd preview some WIP art on the blog. The first sketch is up today here.
