Also some creatures may appear very much like other creatures, but can't paizo turn this creatures into unique boss-like versions of the creatures, for example like Grendel is unique.
In my own wishlist the following creatures are similar to other creatures that are enemies in my project, so they became more powerful bosses in the game, maybe Paizo can do the same with many.
** spoiler omitted **...
The idea of every monster race having a unique, demon lord style general/leader is interesting, but doesn't really fit within the bounds of the Pathfinder universe. That's a well thought out list and it would be interesting for you to explore the concept for your own universe. However, in Pathfinder, all of those should be races with little reason to be connected to the species you're having them command.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought of a few things I'd really enjoy seeing.
The Be Chasti is probably my favorite giant in all of world mythology. From Apache lore, this monstrosity is a tyrannical demonic being with a hide completely forged from jagged obsidian plates. I mean how awesome is that? I'd like it to be a Titan or something related to Gigases.
Charun is a death god I'm rather fond of from Etruscan lore. I've never seen a creature that screams "Gothic Horror" as much as this being. He's a nightmare of a chimerical humanoid vulture. I don't care if he ends up a unique entity or a race, I want him in the game.
I'd like outsider servitor races based on each of the Egyptian gods. Anubis, Sekhmet, Thoth, Apep, Wadjet, Bes, Horus, Sobek, Serqet, Khepri, I'd really love for all of them to have a race dedicated to them. It would make it easy to run an Egyptian campaign and involve these entities more in the world. Plus these would just look awesome.
There are hundreds of classic Sci-Fi alien species whom I feel deserve expies, but one of the most underrated races in my opinion are the lobster-like Baltans from Ultraman. This psychic race has a single connected hive mind, but are more than capable of thinking as individuals. They can merge together or split apart at will, have neat powers like teleportation and paralysis rays, and look really unique.
Does anyone know if Hunting Horrors are available copyright wise? I'd like to see them.
I'd like to see Magical Beast type "Imps" that look like winged tarsiers and are good aligned and familiar compatible.
I'd like to see some tarsier, lemur, and prosimian like monsters in general.

Be Chasti could look like this creature I found on Google

So apparently these are in Bestiary 5.
That name + the name of the smell-race really give me the feeling that they went through great lengths of searching for mythology monsters that I didn't yet wished for.
I'm rather curious what they do with such a creature, can't imagen much for them. Hope they inspire me again to use it in future projects.
If they will be Pathfinders main smith-type monsters, I would have gone with the Dactyl.
Wannabe Demon Lord |
Yeah. I would guess they're either going to be a Fey, an Azata, or a unique race of Celestials like the Garuda or the Lammasu. I'm very curious about these as I have very little clue how they're going to be interpreted beyond that. Hopefully they'll be fairly epic, as it seems they have some kind of specific vision for them if they're being mentioned in the product description.
Sincubus, I really don't think that they're deliberately avoiding your monsters. It's a lot more likely that they're simply using ones you hadn't found/hadn't bothered with. Your knowledge isn't encyclopedic. You, I, MMCJawa, and even the guy at A Book of Creatures are constantly digging up stuff that the rest of us haven't come across. I have no reason to suspect that Paizo is doing anything other than simply using creatures you haven't discovered or hadn't considered using.

They aren't avoiding my wishes, see Buggane and Fossegrim, but it really feels like they want to find monsters from mythology that nodoby has wished for yet in this topic so they can surprise us with them, I knew both these monsters already, but never gave them much thought because there are better monsters for such roles in mythology for my own projects and tastes, but i'm sure Bestiary 5 will pimp them up and turn them better, can't wait to see the smell-folk as evil enemies, the Fastachee is another one of such monsters, but never heard of them before.
The Baykok for example was never my favorite creature in Mythology before Bestiary 3, mainly because in mythology its just another skeleton monster with a boring axe weapon, but in Pathfinder its an ARCHER skeleton that hunts for big game such as heroes and powerhouses, which makes it stand out of the overused-skeleton crowd.
And never seen you particulary wish for those two creatures as well, or even Jawa for that matter, maybe they were in some of your huge list, but not in private one-or-two monsters posts.
But I never said this is a bad thing, its a good thing, as it makes my own lists longer, nice to see the Mythology lists are seemingly endless and never deplete lol.

OMG Kobold Press does it again.
Found this Coral Drake picture and first thought it would be leaked from Bestiary 5, but its from another Kobold Press bestiary with 300+ monsters.
Look I really dislike the drakes, but if this Coral Drake would enter a bestiary I would welcome it!
These are drakes I like, themes of uncommon things such as mist and coral, not the overused environments or smaller versions of the already overused Rainbow D&D Dragons.
So my wish for Bestiary 5 and 6 are original Drakes based on uncommon things with awesome design.

Yeah. Agreed. I'm very happy to see some mythology monsters I haven't heard of before. It's great that Paizo's going out of there way to give us creatures like that. I personally had vague ideas for the Astomoi, but the Fastachee and the Seilenoi are complete surprises and I'm glad to see them. I'm pretty sure that both the Astomoi and the Seilenoi will probably be improvements on the mythological versions, and I'm looking forward to seeing what those improvements are. My versions will almost certainly be based on Paizo's.
Sorry I assumed the negative. I must admit that your behavior as I've seen it has been a lot better over the last couple weeks.

Well thanks, that's probably because my hunger for obscure mythology monsters is somewhat sated by Pinterest and ABookOfCreatures, now I don't have to depend ONLY on Paizo to use obscure mythology monsters for me, there are more sources now, making my hobby a little bit more pleasant to do and without stress of being the only one who likes such things as i've found a lot of more people that are also addicted to that now.
And many monsters from Paizo inspired me to use them that way, such as Alraune (which I already knew from Castlevania), Baykok, Dybbuk, Barometz, Mothman and many others. That's why Paizo (and now I must confess also a bit of Kobold Press) is always my favorite source.
While others are just fun in their Paizo world, but I still use the more original myth, such as the Leshy for example.
But i'm sure i'm gonna love the smell-folk, too bad they already said the Panotti won't be in here, some races based on the 5 senses would be fun.
Panotti - Hearing
Astomoi - Smell
Gegenees - Touch (Six arms and hands, and they could give them some abilities over touch, strength and sensitive skin. Maybe some magical touch attacks with each hand another touch, like static, warm, cold and that type of stuff, they have six hands afteral)
Arimaspi - Sight (One magical eye that can see through walls, see into the past and future, and can do some Beholder-like rays, just a magical eye-race.)
Dunno about taste though, some made-up race with a HUGE (eloko huge) like mouth with magical taste, but taste is stupid to have as weapon, maybe when this creature devours a soul/heart they can do something, but not sure about taste.
When I was young I played King's Quest and Quest For Glory, those games made me like Mythology and Monsters. I still remember these Sense Gnomes from Kings Quest 4 or 5 with their bizarre features, I loved them, now I see many have counterparts in mythology lol.

Ok now that i've seen all Giantslayer monsters from those bestiaries (and the first two parts of Hell's Rebels) I really like to see the following creatures with the following reasons:
Ourdivar Protean - As we need more Proteans and this protean is really beautiful and awesome! I like its Adaptive Strike ability!
Skeltercat - Because its actually the Mythology Wampus Cat/Ewah, and I really like that creature!
Living Cave Painting - This creature is much fun, but if you follow my idea of the Piasa from mythology, I would go with that, my idea is to give the Piasa the ability to turn into a living cave painting, you'know because the Piasa is famous because its a cave painting. But of course the Piasa can leave its stony prison and become real, Piasa could be some dragon mixture of Sphinx and Manticore.
Calpina - Insect-like faeries that feed on Ego are fun in my book, they aren't top priority for me personally, but they look like fun.
Magnetite Golem - This is my personal favorite creature from the Giantslayer bestiaries! One of my wishes come true, while its just another golem I love the artwork for this creature and magnetic powers are needed badly, I really wish there will be a creature like a Metalmaster Snail as well in the future, something with magnetic powers that isn't a construct.
Pyropiscis - My second favorite creature in the Giantslayer bestiaries! And awesome prehistoric-looking fish that swims in lava! YES please, the creature has an awesome description, and I wouldn't have hated it if this creature was called Cherufe.
Thremindyr - While I don't like the name I really enjoy this creatures abilities and looks.
Now for the two Hell's Rebels parts I've Read.
Gambling Devil - Really awesome idea! I love this Two-Face like gambling it does, and I love the dices! One of my favorite devils!
Scrivenite - Dunno much about this creature, but that artwork must be used again! I love that artwork! And we need a living spellbook creature.
Slithering Pit - Another awesome upgrade for another creature the Slithering Tracker in this case. I love that artwork and it has a fun ability!
Cordulegaster - WOW, what an awesome creature! These are great as Hydrodaemon pets and I love that they resemble Dragonfly Nymphs that swim in the river styx that can turn into true Daemons when they absorb enough styx memories! Awesome, awesome, awesome!
Apocrisarius Kyton - Don't like the hard to pronounce name at all, but I really like the artwork and cause of these truth-seeking creatures, I can see them pull out those knives and use them as throwing weapons! Awesome!
Shell Sentinel - Boo, I don't like this creature to be another servant of the Veiled Masters/Aboleths, they should be creations of the Shellycoat, an more than AWESOME Mythology bogeyman hermit that better be in Bestiary 5! This creature is so created to be its creation!
The other creatures aren't really my thing, so don't mind if they aren't in Bestiary 5. I do like the sound of many of the Hell's Rebels 3 creatures, so they probably end up here too.
My top 5 of this list is:
1: Magnetite Golem
2: The Lava Fish
3: Cordulegaster
4: Gambling Devil
5: Shell Sentinel + Skeltercat + Slithering Pit (Really can't choose lol)

Never heard of a Ogre Dragon/Dragon Ogre.
I would like the Gargouille as the creature from myth wich was a sea monster/dragon that spewed forth water to drown it's enemies.
Now that we have mythic rules the Nemean Lion could be stated up along with Cerberus.
I am all for the Bicorn, Otoroshi, Urmahlullu, Nian, Ahkiyyini, A-Mi-Kuk, Gegenees, Far Darrig, Ga-Gorib, and Barbegazi.
Migas is the name of an ancient dish in Spanish and Portuguese cuisine.
Myth Lord |
Ogre Dragon = Brobinyak, or much like a big version of the Draconian from D&D, at least I think he meant it like that.
Migas is also a octopus/ray/crab like monster from African mythology, kinda something like the thing from LOTR, the Watcher in the Water, an tentacled monster that can hide even in the lowest of lakes.

And I see you wanna build on the Athach to be a race? That is new and kinda awesome.
Eh, not so much a "playable" race as a six armed (instead of three) tougher, stronger, more powerful breed of Athach that's occasionally born to their race every now and then.
Which list of mine do you refer to? My Pinterest page? Or something I posted in this topic?
The list in this topic where you gave brief descriptions after each monster's name. It was helpful as I didn't have to Google each monster name. Thanks for the hard work. :D
Myth Lord |
Whenever I wish for creatures they are always normal enemies, never playable races, I would never spoil mythological creatures into playable races, don't want to see a Gegenees from only CR -1, they should be CR 5 or up.
Don't really care for more playable races, so whenever you read something from me, it are all normal enemies, mostly evil or neutral, don't feel connection with good monsters spare for some.
The sense-races I wished for are races but more like Minotaurs and Shae are normal CR, not playble race confusing extremely low CR ratings.

Some evil herbivore based monsters would be nice. I never liked the idea that just because it eats plants means it can't be evil.
A more powerful version of a rust monster, maybe it ate to many sky/space metals or something like that.
I still think we need some tiny sized humanoid creatures not just fey or outsiders but the actual humanoid type.
Some more kinds of ogres, orcs, dwarves, gnomes, halflings, elves, goblinoids, and lizardfolk would be nice.
A template that turns humanoids into magical beasts.

Enter the elemental Gnomes.
Summoning the powers of buring fire, al the way from Brazil, meet the Curapira or fire gnome.
Summoning the power of rocks and earth, al the way from England, meet the Knocker or Earth Gnome.
Summoning the power of freezing ice, al the way from Switserland, meet the Barbegazi or Frost Gnome.
Summoning the powers of wind and air, al the way from Spain, meet the Nuberu or Cloud Gnome.
Myth Lord |
Now that I think of it, cut away the Knocker, we already have the Pech for Earth Gnome, while in my own project the Kobold goes away with that role, the D&D Kobold sadly won.
Curapira are the pyromaniac evil fire Gnomes, they aren't very bright and can't learn to create their own fire as a curse (if they could the entire forest would burn away) so they enhance other creatures fire abilities, stumilate the use of fire in mages and somehow turn other creatures in pyromaniacs too, when a Curapira battles with a Salamander it will enhance its fire abilities and the strength and power of the flames. When normally these bright haired gnomes have bright red hair, when they see or sense fire their hairs turn into magical fire itself, this is a visual thing, the fire is harmless.
When a playable mage battles a Curupira he/she cannot help to prefer to use fire spells in battle, setting the entire environment on fire, thus making the Curapira stronger, so its wise to have some other classes present to battle these fiery gnomes.
Barbegazi aren't as friendly as Pech, but they aren't as wicked, chaotic and evil as their air and fire brothers, their problem lies in xenophobia.
Barbegazi trust only beasts and their own race, all others are evil enemies that want to eat or kill Barbegazi and so they often use their ice powers against intruders, even if they are friendly.
Their ice powers are the power to create icicles on their large feet and hands (creating WOlverine like claws), creating awesome avalanches on which they skate and from which they are 100% immune. Like surfers the Barbegazi use avalanche to make their escape or just for fun.
They are often friendly with a multitude of ice-creatures that aren't humanoids they fear, Ursikka, Winter Wolves and even Remorhaz have been found battleling along side them.
Wicked, chaotic and grumpy the Nuberu, Cloud Gnome or Cloud Riders are one of the most evil Gnome species there is, said to be evolved Quicklings (because of their similar appearances) the Nuberu has sleek facial hair which is silver and thin, they ride on clouds which they can shape into any form they desire and they often work together with the cloud-monsters named Akashita (a Japanese cloud yokai).
Allies of the Nuberu (mostly evil creatures) always have the wind at their side giving them a speed boost and overhand in many battles, but their enemies will feel how powerful their wind powers really are, especially flying enemies hate Nuberu's aerial mastery. Their lungs are very powerful and the gusts their blows produce can knock a giant off his feet.

Quote:Hey guys, I'm in need of some plant based creatures. Anyone feel like sharing their's?Uh, kinda getting off topic dude.
Not really, when we share the plant creatures, they can be automatically be used in future bestiaries :-p
I think you already have all my plant monsters from mythology.
Devalpa can be used as plant creature, as you didn't already do that.
Jidra is another I think you already have, but which is very cool.
Fear Gorta is also a monster you could turn into a plant monster, much like an Alp-Luachra plant creature.
Berberoka are also plant creatures in my project, so maybe you can too, as there are already too much other creatures that are nymphs and mermaids anyway.
Mbielu-Mbielu in my project isn't about the dinosaur, but about the poisonous corrupting algae that grow on its plates which control the creature into doing its work for it with their enchanting poisonous scent.
Otherwise plant creatures in myth are extremely rare :-(
I really want to find a venus-flytrap monster from myth or folklore or even cryptid, but those are rare and unknown to me. Our hope lies with ABookOfCreatures.

All this talk about horror-movies/MOnster-Movies make me want the following creatures in a bestiary:
I would also really love the Chimera from the B-Horror movie The Relic, the one that decapitates its victims.
Also the beating-heart rat-like humanoid monster that feeds on hearts with the annoying, creeping heartbeat from the movie Split Second.
And maybe the creature from the deep from the movie with Famke Jansen on that boat, Deep Rising.
Something that looks like It
Something that looks like the Thing.
Maybe something like Alien or Predator.

I would like to see some fey versions of centaurs, mermaids, willow wisp, goblins, and orcs. I would love to see what the original version of gnomes were like in the first world.
I would like stronger versions of pixie, nixie, satyr, and leprechaun. I would love to see a type of gremlin that is CR5 or better.
I also would like to see Paizo's version of Aliens, Predator, It, the Thing, Audrey 2, and the Relic.
We have a giant flytrap but what about a giant sundew or giant pitcher plant. We do not have many cacti based plant creatures or ones that look like shrubs/bushes, grass, moss, ferns, etc. We have plenty of plant creatures that look like trees or vines.
Dragon78 |
Stronger version as in a subspecies or variant. In second ed they had a stronger version of a Nixie, can't remember the name but it translated to "water mother". It was basically the leader of the tribe and had more racial powers.
A lurker in the light is not even related to a pixie, they have different alignment, abilities, and appearance.
