I really, really want to see Paizo expand on crystal golems. Like allowing one to funnel light to fuel it using color spray on people (as Odraude suggested) ^^
Probably would be best to start that sort of stuff with something like a Living Lens --a monster that does nothing else than modify external effects. And if that could be gotten to work, then you could start to include that sort of effects as part of other monsters. But it can be tough to do that sort of thing because the monster writeup would basically need to address every specific spell or effect that it could modify? Could get spammy.

I would absolutely love if the martians from War of the Worlds had a presence of Akiton, and could show up statted (with war machines of course)
I assume that Akiton might have it's own Darklands, and they would be the perfect master race for it.
This sounds really cool, and really creepy! /Approve!
And crystal golems sound neat too! Lazers!

Only if they are pink in color and called Flaaffy or Mareep tho.
With all this crystal golem love going around, I wonder why the Carbuncle, Carnivorous Crystal, Crystal Dragon and Crysmal are getting so little love from you guys...
The Carbuncle is just weird, the Carnivorous Crystal wouldn't show up in most of my campaigns, I don't typically toss dragons at a party, and I love the Crysmal. I had a character who infested an entire forest with them once. And, yes, it was on purpose.
Bandits that tried to take up residence in that forest never lasted long for some reason...

The Roseblood Sprite comes from Conquest of Bloodsworn Vale. The art for them isn't that great, but other than that they are are evil fey that breaks the usual norm of a beautiful fey woman being associated with plants. Instead these fey are male, evil, and have a strong connection with roses, a flower normally associated with women and love.
The Painted Creation Template is AWESOME! Basically you turn the pictures of a painting into a monster similar to the creature that has been painted except with the construct creature type.
Going to second these suggestions. Male monsters that are actually associated with beauty, flowers, love, etc., instead of typical female ones; it's time to break the mold! And paintings that come to life are rather classic.
I'd like to see something similar to the meenlock for Pathfinder. I think they're inspired by the monsters from Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark - that's the trailer for the remake. Small, evil fey that stalk children, are sensitive to light, and drag their prey off into the dark, either to eat them or turn them into their own kind.
From modern lore, perhaps something like the slender man. There's the thin man in the Inner Sea Bestiary, but I'm not sure if Paizo would put them into an actual non-setting specific Bestiary.
Giant hummingbirds, either as familiars or as mounts for fey lords and ladies.
Since we've done demon lords, maybe some of the Eldest, like the Lost Prince, Lantern King, Green Mother, or Shyka.

It would be nice to see fey that are tied to one of the fey lords.
Like I have said before I would like more art themed monsters such as a paint ooze, paint golem, golem made of failed or broken artworks, monster that uses poetry as a weapon. Monsters that like to create art like a ooze that sculpts stone with it's acid. Fey who are obsessed with art, some want to create it, some want to destroy it(gremlin), others want to collect it.
fire based salamanders or newts like from myth.
A creature made from broken hearts or broken dreams would be cool.
Monster that lives in a demi-plane it created in a book, what it writes can come true. creatures in the book are magical constructs created by the imagination.

2 people marked this as a favorite. |

I had an idea that was spawned by two songs. How about a devil or demon that goes around challenging bards to musical duels or challenging them to perform for it or it will kill them and take their souls or if they win it gives them a valuable musical instrument. The two songs that inspired this idea are The Devil Went Down to Georgia by The Charlie Daniels Band and Tribute by Tenacious D. The creature would always have some sort of valuable or magical musical instrument with it similar to the one the bard it confronts carries. If the bard doesn't carry a musical instrument then of would challenge the bard to perform for it.

Yeeees. I could use this in the current game I'm running too :)

Art monsters reminds me of a couple of critters from Where Monsters Dwell and other Marvel comics from the '60's. Zzutak was a painting that came to life and (I think) the Glop was a statue that became animated when it got covered in alien paint.

I've also been looking through all my movies and books here and I think I've narrowed it down.
I really really REALLY want to see the coeurl, or at least something inspired by it. I loved Voyage of the Space Beagle. This one is less likely... but man, if Paizo could get permission to publish it again, I'd be super psyched.
The creature from The Thing would be pretty awesome to stat. Maybe an aberration or even an ooze. I had tried to stat it once, but it was a very daunting task. But I'm a huge John Carpenter fan and would love to see this along side the ooze from Prince of Darkness we got in Bestiary 4 :)
More Lovecraft is always good, though I'm unsure of what is left that we could use. I'd have to run through, see what hasn't been used. Maybe Yig could be the next Great Old One. He's my favorite and would fit in well with my other favorite monster, the serpentfolk.
An alien or creature with an organic exosuit (like the aliens from Independence Day) would be cool, though they'd have to have something that makes them a bit more unique than "creature with bioexosuit".

How about some [more] reprints from Distant Worlds? Not that much, but a few more?
Well, technically, since only 6 monsters were featured, might as well add the rest in B5.
- Variant treants, based on different trees, and size
- A body jumper-like spirit, but for objects, making them intelligent
- A new breed of outsiders based on emotions: joy, sadness, disgust, surprise, anger and fear.
- Colossal creatures at CR 10-13 that are NOT spiders, centipedes, scorpions, crabs and such.
- The male version of the medusa (name escapes me)
- A fey with tattoos that comes to life, similar to the summon spells
- Variants to any WotC monsters, like the Beholder, Mind Flayer and Displacer Beast
Oh 2 good ones:
- a swarm template
- a mob/unit/squadron/megahorde (used in Tome of Horrors 4) Template
Let's say that I want a swarm of stirges, let's say I want a squadron of soldiers, a group of zombies, a swarm of giant wasps or a bunch of infant wyrmlings that just hatched and are seeking for a meal.
(That last one would be similar to the Godzilla movie)

This might run into intellectual property barriers, but it would be sort of funny to see some classic video game monsters. Like something vaguely looking like the Space Invaders that attack with ranged attacks while slowly descending from above, or maybe a yellow spherical blob that goes around munching everything, or a giant worm that spends most of its time dormant but when engaged in combat starts to grow by one square per round, making moving around in the room harder and harder.
Eh, probably too jokey and referential, plus the stress of "where goes the line of infringement". But it was a funny thought to me for a moment.

Dragon78 |

Yes I would also like reprints of the rest of the creatures in Distant Worlds.
You will not see any male medusas, read the mythic monsters revisited book.
A group of outsiders that are focused on single emotion for each type would be cool. It would be cool to have a related group of outsiders who are not all the same alignment.

JiCi |

I think you could combine the swarm and squadron template to make it dual purpose. Maybe a horde template for making both swarms and armies.
Well, since we're already used to use the term "swarm" for groups of Fine, Diminutive and Tiny creatures, I'd say it would be more adequate to use a different term for groups made of larger creatures, especially since "mob" was used to describe such "swarms".

Huh... I didn't, so care to sum it up for me here please?
JiCi wrote:- The male version of the medusa (name escapes me)Maedar
Thanks ^_^

Araxiss |

Maedar do not exist in pathfinder because there are no male medusas. They can mate with any race that can bread with humans but the offspring will always be another medusa.
Similar to how hagspawn(male offspring of hags) do not exist in Pathfinder. Tho I think hagspawn are Forgotten Realms specific and may not be open for Pathfinder use.

I wanna see a Leshy variant which is known as the Leshy King, this leshy's are the leaders of the forest or the right hand to the ruling Hamadryad/Erlking.
They are the 100% match of the real folklore Leshy. Many people seem to dislike the leshies (not me tho) but I think this can be solved by just make a Leshy King that resembles the true leshy old-plant man.

Any form of Grim Reaper would be welcome in a hardcover bestiary, be it the Grim Reaper (with better art) the Danse Macabre or something else.
Don't really like the japanese version.
============
I'm a little disappointed by the Gaki, its just another skeleton.
So maybe another creature called the Preta (normally another name for gaki) that is a greed spirit who looks like a possessed treasure hoard, like gold coins, gems and other treasures that rise up like a dragon, serpent, humanoid or something else. Much like a poltergeist that possessed his own treasure out of pure greed.
I don't like the easy-escape road, that of the treasure golem, that is too simple and the fluff would suck, I want a special creature that possesses treasures that was his own, and not one made from treasure by other humans.
