Well, here's what you get from 1 level of inquisitor.
Pros:
+2 Fort and Will saves
Domain/Inquisition (no bonus spells)
4 orisons and 2 1st level spells, of which you can cast 2 per day
Many favored class skills and 6 ranks to play with
Judgment (+1 to AC/atk/dmg/whatever for 1 fight)
Monster Lore (+wis to identifying monsters, which was probably not your job)
Cons:
0 BAB
d8 hit die
Slows down Barbarian progression
A second level gives you some minor bonuses to initiative, survival, intimidate, and sense motive, plus the ability to detect alignment.
It might be worth it, especially if your group is starved for skills, but a Barbarian X will almost certainly be stronger than a Barbarian (X-1)/Inquisitor 1.

the best reason for a character to take a second class, is because it fits what is going on in "thier" life, so if you feel like your barbarian has some religious zeal, then hell yeah you should take a level or two.
Alternatively, Roleplay having religion. Mechanically its not that amazing. Groetus, the diety in question, is a little wierd though.

Although, if you serve a god with the travel domain, such as Cayden Cailean, then you get an extra +10 to your move. A fast barbarian gets down to face smashing all the quicker. Well, it depends in part on the way the campaign is set up I suppose. Fast speed is not that great is winding sewers. Still, it can be quite the advantage.
So yeah, unless you find some obscure deity to worship that gives you a super weapon, then most of your advantages will be outside of battle. Not that that is a bad thing. barbarians do have 4+int skill points, so it is not impossible to imagine you had one or two skills covered for your party. While they are no bards, they are not exactly fighters when outside of battle either.

This is probably, actually the worst reason to take a second class.
Classes are mechanical constructs. You can be a member of the clergy with no levels of Cleric, Oracle, Paladin, etc. You can be a professional soldier without levels of Fighter.
Levels in Inquisitor give you mechanics. You and you alone give your character flavor.
Also, I agree with Blackbloodtroll.

+1 to this. So I guess blackbloodtroll gets a cumulative +2.
All a class level does is give you mechanics, the character's personality, as well as any other RP-related choice is up to you!

I can agree with this, I just dont tend to care all that much about optimization. I was just thinking about a man from the wild, joins a religion, and starts realizing that he might be able to serve better if he changes some parts of his life. those changes are mechanically shown through a new class.

Calain |

Thread necro.
Ok guys,
Help me out here.
Calain is the main beatstick for a Party that has
Half Drow cleric of Zon Kuthon (whom Calain hates and refuses blessings from)
Oracle (whom Calain is willing to get healing off)
And a genie Blooded Sorcerer.
At the moment he kicks ass Big Time.
I want it to stay that way.
With his high Will Save and WILD FIGHTING,
he is getting an extra attack at level 3.
Considering he uses a Nodachi, the damage output is pretty sweet.
I have to stick to straight inquisitor from now on so when I have to SAVE vs Barb confusion I pass on anything but a 1. More barb levels increases the DC.
I currently do sweet damage and can 1/rage use knock down power for trips.
Tandem trip teamwork feat will up my odds even more.
Touch of Maddness and Aura of Maddness should still work while raging.
So, how to proceed with leveling up? Intimidating Glare could work, but Cornugon Smash might be better.
With a sweet to hit and high saves but no access to higher level rage powers, not sure how to proceed.

As you said, you should continue with Inquisitor from now on. Take Furious Focus and Extra Rage Power: Reckless Abandon, as well as the Extra Rage feat at least once. You could go like this:
1 Barb Iron Will, Power Attack
2 Barb Rage Power: Moment of Clarity
3 Inquis Extra Rage Power: Knockdown
4 Inquis
5 Inquis Extra Rage Power: Reckless Abandon, Teamwork: Shake it Off
6 Inquis
7 Inquis Furious Focus
8 Inquis Teamwork: Outflank
9 Inquis Extra Rage
10 Inquis
11 Inquis Blindfight, Teamwork: Precise Strike
12 Inquis
13 Inquis Combat Expertise
14 Inquis Teamwork: Coordinated Charge
15 Inquis Moonlight Stalker
16 Inquis
17 Inquis Additional Traits (Berserker of the Society, Threatening Defender), Teamwork: Broken Wing Gambit
18 Inquis
19 Inquis Extra Rage
20 Inquis Teamwork: Paired Opportunists
With Reckless Abandon and Furious Focus you will maintain a great to-hit bonus. Extra Rage is essential because you have no ways of extending your rage. By 15th lvl you can afford a cloak of lesser displacement so you will have Moonlight Stalker always activated. Its prereqs are decent too, Blind-Fight usually finds a lot of use and Combat Expertise may prove crucial for your survival sometimes. After these nothing strikes my fancy, but both the two traits I mentioned as well as more rage will certainly prove useful. Coordinated Charge will give you a pseudo-pounce.
You could of course follow the intimidate route too, but the fact that you have low Cha and you have not choose the Conversion Inquisition will lead to a non-optimal intimidator. You can always take Intimidating Prowess to make up for them though. I just like more the above setup because it takes advantage of the increased damage the barbarian dip has to offer. Many enemies are immune to fear anyway.
Remember to add to your weapon the Conductive ability in order to be able to debuff your enemies with Vision of Madness through your attack.

STR Ranger |

I don't need any additional rage rounds.
WILD RAGER not only gives me an extra attack on full attacks, but once I kill my first bad guy I can DELIBERATELY fail my save vs Confusion.
The confusion description SPECIFICALLY says a Confused target Automatically attacks the last thing that hit it. And while raging confused it it doesn't use rage rounds.
I only need to make the save if there is no adjacent enemy to attack.
Other than that I like your reasons.
I was said there was no way to get Gtr Beast Totem, but co-ordinated charge is sweet so long as I can make the cleric or oracle charge happy!

SmiloDan RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32 |

I play a dwarf barbarian 1/magus 5 in Kingmaker, and the dip in barbarian is quite useful. Lets me tank for a battle or 2 per day without wasting spells. Berserker of the Society helps, so I have 9 rage rounds per day.
If you plan on going all Inquistor going forward, then the barbarian dip is great for the weapons, hit points, extra speed (main reason I took it!), and some useful class skills (Acrobatics, Perception, Survival).

You could do a particularly fun trick and take the Insanity subdomain of Madness. It has the ability to grant you temporary immunity to confusion for 1 minute. That would help negate the wild rager penalty.
You could also take the spellbreaker archetype. Trade teamwork feats for being better against magic and getting an extra will reroll.
Also, a fun Groetus item Deathlurker Cloak

STR Ranger |

With only 2 barbarian levels reckless Abandon is no better than weapon Focus.
Maybe
Furious Focus, Cornugon Smash and get a Furious, Courageous, Cruel weapon?
There are some good synergies with Courageous enchant
Rage is a morale bonus to Str and saves
Righteous Vigor is a MORALE bonus to attack
A Furious weapon boosts rage.
Cornugon Smash will lower enemy AC and saves. Sickened sux their attack.
I love going for Moonlight Stalker.
I'll need the low light vision rage power to qualify.
