Is this the same group ZenPagan mentioned to me last night? I'm in, but it may take me a bit to get up to speed as I've never played LotRO.

Goblin Squad Member

I thought I already had made a PFOFan account, but apparently not. Why is gender a required field, but not birthdate? There are some laws requiring a minimum age (13) to register on many sites, but I don't think there are any about gender identification (and the setting doesn't include an option for people who don't identify within the binary).
Anyway, I'm registered now and set up a bookmark for the TS3 connection. Thanks for the link, Hobs!

Yes Deianira it is the same group

currently five of us I believe

ZenPagan
Bluddwolf
Hobs
Deianira
Harad Navar

if you are worried about not being up to speed on lotro don't be. Mr Navar is an mmo virgin :)

Which server, Bludd? I have characters on Vilya plus a few others.

Going to be Landroval I believe Being

Goblin Squad Member

Ah! I believe I may have a couple of low levels on Landroval already.

~~later~~ Nope I would be starting out anew there. Do we know whether anyone already knows what class they will be using?

We are starting the group from level 6 fresh out the starter zones and the idea is they don't level outside the group times. We still have a place available

Goblin Squad Member

I'll level someone to level 6 if you hold my spot. Tuesdays and Thursdays, Eastern time 9:00 to 11:00...

<obligatory whine incoming> the 11:00 is a little late for me on a weeknight but doable. I am up in the morning to work after all.

Any idea what class we might need?

Goblin Squad Member

...also if anyone does not particularly wish me to join up just tell Zen to pass me the word: I'll promise to not pry and presume Zen is only reporting the preferences of someone else.

I am not sure if we are playing both but we will hold your spot, I will add you to the conversation on the pax board now as you are registered there it is a convenient way to communicate with the whole group at once

As to the time think of those of us who have the misfortune to be on gmt time :(

Goblin Squad Member

Oh indeed. I do not understand how you folks over there do what you do. It would be like me here in Philly trying to coordinate online time with someone in Honolulu.

Odd: I don't recall signing up for the PAX board. I have an identity on the PFO Fan board. I'll have to go check.

~~Oh of course: had to for the interview, but I used my other email address. Sorry for the bother...

No worries Being, the only reason to use that method is it sends out an email to everyone when you post in it, assuming they have that option turned on :). Just makes it a fast way to let people know if you can't make it rather than hope they read a forum post

Goblin Squad Member

So I'll build a tank for the group. Possibly a Warden, but I am very familiar with Guardian, the Guardian's shouts are effective taunts if our DPS are conscientious, and Guardian armor mitigation may be be hard for the self-healing Warden to match. Maybe I'll try both and decide between them at level 6.

Goblin Squad Member

The time we agreed on was 8:00-10:00 pm Eastern Standard Time, Tuesday evenings (though Thursday had been kicked around).

I started a hunter from scratch and it takes you to about mid 7th to get out of the tutorial. I suggest we start at that level and strongly suggest that the people brand new to LOTRO run the tutorial. It does a decent job of getting you familiar with the game basics.

Unfortunately, I forgot crafting (which I thought we could do in our off-time) gives XP. I set my toon up to turn hides into leather, logged onto another website while I waited for the grind to finish, and when I came back, I'd slipped into 8th lvl...grr.

Goblin Squad Member

There isn't that huge a difference at the early levels: I am sure it will be fine, but we will need to be all together when we start the first Book (the epic quest the game evolves around).

Looking forward to running Orogorath and Weathertop with you all.

Goblin Squad Member

Ok.. I found an old account, still has Premium Account status.

I rolled a Hobbit, Warden, on Landroval server; Named "Blodvaerd"

If everyone likes it enough do you suppose that frequency might be upped, or are there scheduling conflicts?

Goblin Squad Member

I'm available, but trying to get the 4 other people to commit to, or have the time for, twice a week might be tough. Remember, the point of the Tuesday night group is to keep our characters together in level and quests...to experience the game as a group...so if running it twice a week means we increase the chance that people will be absent, I'd rather not.

Now, if you're looking to see who else is around for playing alts on other days, I'd be more than happy to.

Goblin Squad Member

I do already have a level 6 alt (hobbit warden named Hebeing) active and will of an occasion be playing him leaving my Guardian (Habeing) alone unless the rest of us are on.

Also a starting rogue, but I don't recall his name off hand. Should have named him "chucklebeing".

~~edit~~ just recalled his name: 'Coppers'

Goblin Squad Member

Bump... wish they would just stick this to top... along with the link!

Goblin Squad Member

Bump. Keep in mind folks, this isn't just a server for the LOTRO group. This is a community server, paid for by Dakcenturi, for us all to get together and talk about the game we are all looking forward to.

I've been remiss and haven't been on in a while. Will try for Wednesday and Thursday nights next week and hope to hear lots of people then!

Goblin Squad Member

Looks like a full client will hit the Play store soon, in the meanwhile:
Beta for Android

Note, this is not the remote client currently in the store.

Goblin Squad Member

There is a new group being created for a "Goblin Squad" clan for Darkfall, how does the PROfan TS offer apply (or not) to this new effort?

Goblin Squad Member

We will be using it for communication.

We are not supposed to post the server info publicly so I'm PMing it to you now.

Goblin Squad Member

The preferred method of getting the information is joining DakCenturi's site PFO Fan.

DakCenturi pays out of pocket for the TS Server. Registering with his site does not take long and as far as I know, it is the first and only PFO Fan site!!

Please support his community focused venture, register on his site, the look in the forum for the TS3 Voice Server.

If you want to create some groups to use shot me a PM and I can create channels and the like for people. It is a 75 slot server so for now (until PFO gets much bigger I don't have a problem with PFO people using it more often.) Once PFO gets bigger I'll either upgrade the server or lock it down a little bit more so that it can be used for things like the Guides program to help new players or settlement/guild negotiations etc.

Goblin Squad Member

A Darkfall channel and a few sub-channels for if we have multiple groups doing different things would be great. Thanks Dak.

Goblin Squad Member

@DakCenturi - Side note, can't wait to hear that GENCon audio Dak... thanks again for recording it for us.

Scarab Sages Goblinworks Executive Founder

Added a Darkfall Channel with 2 sub channels. As for the audio, just got it onto my PC and working on editing it.

Goblin Squad Member

Dakcenturi,

As someone who uses it often, thank you again for the TS server.

Goblin Squad Member

Who is on TeamSpeak today.

How?

Goblin Squad Member

1. Download and install TeamSpeak if you don't already use it.

2. Create an account on PFO Fan so you can access the TeamSpeak setup parameters in order to connect to the right place.

Connect using teamspeak and start talking.

Download the latest TeamSpeak Client from their Downloads page and install the software.

Connect to the server as instructed in this video, what is important to you starts at 1:00.

Server Address: TX2.LeetTS.com:10047
Nickname: your name/nickname
Server Password: (Register and log on to PFO Fan to see)

EDIT: Oops, beat me to it, Thanks Being.

No worries: if the same thing is said enough ways people are more certain to arrive at understanding. Or a more perfect confusion, one.

Goblin Squad Member

Where on team speak do I look for password?

Goblin Squad Member

If I understand the question, when setting up the unique connection for PFOFan's server there will be a control on the right, if memory serves, for setting the client password enabling access to the specific server. That password is on the PFO website as described above. I think I recall that you have to set up a new connection in TS to use only once, thereafter it is selectable and automated.

I have a server that I setup for my PFOFan.com site that once I got a little further along I was going to open up to PFOFan.com users. I've been super busy between work and a new side company so haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to the PFOFan.com site.

In any case, I've posted the login info up. It is a 75 person server, which should accommodate most of the people now. If someone wants to chip in I can upgrade it to 100 or possibly more.

PFOFan.com Link to server info. *NOTE* You need to have an account to access the password.

PLEASE DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THE PASSWORD ON PUBLIC FORUMS

If individuals are interested in helping out admin the server in some regards please PM me.

Bump, and still wondering why this is not stickied!!

Goblin Squad Member

Is there server down for some reason? I wasn't able to log in last night and today it still gives me a "failed to connect" error. Has the info changed or something?

Goblin Squad Member

Is anyone able to log into the PFOfan TS? this is 2 full days now and no one has said anything. Is anyone else having this issue? Did the info get changed and no one tell me? I have asked here and on the PFOfan site and no response either place. Anyone?

Goblin Squad Member

I tried last night and was not able.

Goblinworks Executive Founder

The server seems down.

Goblin Squad Member

DakCenturi's first post about the TS server was a year ago yesterday: My guess is that the service wasn't renewed timely. The Goodfellow and I have left posts on the PFOFan website.

Goblin Squad Member

Glad that I was able to bring this to people's attention LOL.

Meanwhile if you want, you can always use mine :

srv4.location-ts3.com:29275

Pulsar

And just go to the PFO channel, otherwise you're going to end up with French-speaking people.

Goblin Squad Member

cool thanx. I guess I can pop in here once in a while, see who is on. And I don't mind French speaking people. Just don't make fun of me...I stab you!!!!!!! :-)
