I have a server that I setup for my PFOFan.com site that once I got a little further along I was going to open up to PFOFan.com users. I've been super busy between work and a new side company so haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to the PFOFan.com site.
In any case, I've posted the login info up. It is a 75 person server, which should accommodate most of the people now. If someone wants to chip in I can upgrade it to 100 or possibly more.
PFOFan.com Link to server info. *NOTE* You need to have an account to access the password.
PLEASE DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THE PASSWORD ON PUBLIC FORUMS
If individuals are interested in helping out admin the server in some regards please PM me.

I have played 3 games which include in game voice chat
Lotro
Wow
EveI have yet to use or meet anyone using the voice chat in any of these. On the other hand in all three I have been on teamspeak/ventrilo. Only anecdotal of course and I am not implying no one uses it just that even in pug groups no one has ever suggested people on in game voice either
The *PS2 (Planetside 2) voice chat is fairly robust and gets a lot of use; I know at least one major Outfit still insists on using TeamSpeak, though. It doesn't get abused often; though the ability to shoot offenders in the head probably helps... I personally refuse to use voice-chat... everyone should learn to type 100+ WPM like me! #OG-elitist
Along those lines, would anyone have any interest in an IRC room(s)? With minimal research and investment I could probably set one up; and it would have the added benefit of allowing people to idle without having to worry about someone obnoxiously shouting, "HULLO!" right at the scariest part of the movie you're watching because you forgot to turn the volume down from 11... chicks don't dig it when you jump for a knife because your dorky RPG voice-chat startled you. :(

I type 124 wpm (last time I had it tested), and I still prefer voice chat. My fingers are busy stabbing people. =P
As far as an IRC channel, I think there are very few ways expanded communication channels are detrimental. I'd probably idle there a lot. Doubly so if it had a web client that wasn't blocked at work.

I'll do the research then and have a report for y'all by the end of the week... same with the work idling, btw. And, I know there are webclients; whether they are available via work (e.g. at least one of the ones I'm thinking of is a Java app which my work server hates) remains to be seen... but, I'll try to find a few and post those as well. The resource thread for my mIRC-based game could use that sort of update anyways. :)
Planetside 2 has Voice-Macros (two key presses for a basic recorded message) to communicate in the middle of battle. I suppose voice chat might speed me up a bit, but I really don't like it. Also, though it is widely off-topic, I miss the three menu deep voice-macros of Planetside 1. Lots of 'needs' missing in PS2 (hacker, gunner, etc) that were easy enough to call out in PS1.

Areks,
I was on PFO Fan today and it listed Darkcenturi as not having been on for 3 days, so it's possible he's tied up with other life issues at the moment.
Though I have thanked Bludd several times for providing a spot for our chats (personally, I think these chats are one of the things we need to keep the PFO interest alive while we wait for EE), if the actual Mechwarrior playing owners of the server ever figure out that we're not really members, we could quickly find ourselves out of a meeting spot.
I would like to see Dark's site and server get more use. I think an unaffiliated, open to the public site is something our community needs.

It's sad how excited I get when I actually succeed in installing something...
So, I downloaded Teamspeak. How do I find the PFO chat thingamabob?

Just look for a Dropship with names + PFO tag.
You can create the name + tag for yourself, in the Bookmark options.
Yeah I found the channels. It's just been a while since I've been in a TS server that huge.
Also, just popped onto the server you had listed Bluddwolf. There was someone sitting in a Dropship channel afk saying that PFO people should go to PFO fan. Is that where everyone is now migrating?

Anyone here really familiar with C3? http://www.downloadc3.com/
Just suggesting it as an alternative to Teamspeak since you can create servers for free, and no need to join and search through a giant public one like you've got going on presently.
It seems fairly new, and I have no idea how reliable it is, although my limited experience with it so far has been positive.

If you can create multiple book marks, and it is compatible with a guild launch website, I would consider switching over.

Surprised I didn't have this listed, but it's in the Popular Player Threads section of the Guild Recruitment & Helpful Links now.

OK, it has been days since I've seen anyone on the PFOFan TS??
Where has everyone gone to?
Sorry - work's been crazy the last couple of weeks. I did manage to log on a couple of nights ago, saw ZenPagan online, and then lost power (thanks a lot, tropical storm Andrea!) before I could even say something.
I should be online Sunday night, though.

If I'm able to log on, it's usually in the 7-9 pm EDT range, although almost never on weekend nights. If no one's there, I promise to try to remember to stay on for a while, just in case. I strongly encourage it, as chatting with other members of the community goes a long way toward developing that community spirit.

Some of us on the PFOfan TS server are putting together a playing group for LOTRO.
We are presently looking at playing on Tuesday or Thursday nights from 9:00 - 11:00 PM Eastern Standard Time.
Other nights or days may be considered as interest in this project grows. This player group is open to all community members that frequent this TS channel.

Great idea to keep people busy and build community while waiting. :)
