PFS an Starting Clothes

Rules Questions

So, each character starts with an outfit costing 10 gp or less that has no weight for the character.

Question:

Character A Decides he does not want to start out wearing an outfit costing 10gp or less. Thus she purchases another outfit such as a Dilettante's or Courtier's Outfit.

Since they received the starting equipment outfit at 0 cost, can they sell said outfit to help fund the purchase of the outfit they intend to use? Normally items you receive at 0 cost (IIRC) have to be sold again at 0.

Does the new non-basic outfit also have - weight?

Or, you could choose a cold-weather outfit as your "starting outfit" and keep it.

Where does it state that this outfit has no weight?

That was a 3.5 rule that was dropped in Pathfinder.

Clothes have weight in Pathfinder, even when they're free.

Sell your dress and earn 5gp starting capital!

Another reason casters have to be careful dumping strength. It isn't good for adventuring if your clothes, spell book, and component pouch put you into medium load.

Unless otherwise stated, you cannot sell for money something you got for free. It doesn't matter how you acquired the item. This includes spell books and bonded items (which lose all magic propertied when not used by the wizard to whom they are bonded anyway).

"So, I don't see a starting outfit on your character sheet."

"Yeah."

"Well, uh..."

"Yeah, let's do this!"

"Agggghhhh my eyes!"

I dunno, Lamontius, if it's a hawt elf chick...

no no sorry it was a male dwarf white-haired witch archetype who utilized the prehensile hair from his back rather than his beard

The Op's confusion probably stems from herolab. Which for some reason gives your first clothes to you at zero weight. So you have to add a second pair at 0 cost to get the weight right.
