Favored class options?

Rules Questions

Hi, my apologies for this question, but I'm stumped.

I thought the favored class options was just +1 skill point or +1 HP, but someone brought up this document:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/core-races/human#TOC-Favored-Class-Options

1) Is this official and does it replace what is in the Core rulebook?
2) If using these options, do players get both the standard +1 HP or skill point AND this extra option?

Thanks if anyone can answer this.

Favored Class
Each character begins play with a single favored class of his choosing—typically, this is the same class as the one he chooses at 1st level. Whenever a character gains a level in his favored class, he receives either + 1 hit point or + 1 skill rank. The choice of favored class cannot be changed once the character is created, and the choice of gaining a hit point or a skill rank each time a character gains a level (including his first level) cannot be changed once made for a particular level. Prestige classes (see Prestige Classes) can never be a favored class.

There is a racial feat, for humans from the ARG, which I'll dig up now:

You progress gain extra versatility.
Prerequisites: Int 13, human.
Benefit: When you gain a level in a favored class, you gain both +1 hit point and +1 skill rank instead of choosing either one or the other benefit or you can choose an alternate class reward.

The alternate favored class bonuses you referenced started in the APG, and are listed along with each race in the front of the book. They are just that: alternates to the choices in the core.

Edit: found the feat and reference.

It doesn't "change" the core rules any more than the existence of additional classes in the Advanced Player's Guide "changes" the Core Rulebook's list of what classes exist.

It's just an extra option. If your GM allows alternate favored class bonuses in his/her campaign, then you could choose one instead of the hit point or skill rank.

Basically, each time you gain a level in your favored class, you gain your choice of ONE of the following:
• hit point
• skill rank
• alternate bonus if allowed in your campaign

Hope that clears it up for you! :)

1) Yes, it is official. In many of the books after the CRB they have added other favored class possiblities.

2) No, you pick one of a whole host of possibilities. But still only 1. however, you can change what you pick each level.

Ex: Human sorc. Worried about surviving at first level takes an extra hit point. Then not quite as worried about surviving but realizes doesn't have skills ranks in a couple of skills where it is really wanted. So on 2nd and 3rd level takes an extra skill point. Then feels that is set. So on all the following levels picks an extra spell known (at 1 level below the max that can be cast at that point).

Clear as mudd?

Thank you everyone - I understand now. :S
