Thanks for the proper link Drakhan :-)
Also, stop into the forums on there are participate for Pathfinder. Some of these same conversations on here could be held over there and each post gets the thread bumped to the front page of the site. More front page time = more eyes seeing.. and hopefully looking into the game!

Your user rank of 0/100 is not high enough to hype games yet. We require that members have at least a 5/100 rank to hype our games. This helps prevent abuse of our hype system. Achieving this rank is fairly easy and only requires minimal activity with our site.
Well I have to get some rank first it appears.

Yep I've been a member for some six years and only have 2/100.
But I can post!

Last 2 days.. we still haven't gotten enough votes on the HYPE meter to get the game shown.
Come on guys! Go vote for pathfinder, and while you're at it stop into the forums and post a message or two to get us on the front page.
It's going to be a tight race to the goal, we cannot all pledge more money but we probably can affored 5 minutes stopping in to plug the game.

I'm still waiting for a PvP sporting game that throws PvE on top in the middle of PvP just to f*** with everyone. Like you got two sides in the middle of a battle when a marauding giant comes-a-galumping through and starts smacking anyone within range. Maybe that'll be PFO eventually.
A gigantic war between the largest kingdoms culimates in a final massive battle.
The GMs watch over the fighting and type out a single line.

Hmm... maybe you're onto something.
Instead of encouraging the vengeance/vendetta approach to people working on their gankineering degree strip out all the complicated bounty/criminality code and just make it so anyone who kills another without provocation (how exactly is that defined anyway?) or in a war state increase his aggro range to a hex radius so he will become targeted by every NPC everywhere, from storm giant to bunny wabbit until he dies.
He wakes with a clean slate. He kills somebody again same thing happens.
Eventually comes the dawn...

That might be a good implementation for the marshal in a protected wilderness area...

Oh you monster. That would be the most diabolical, and at the same time, awesomest thing to happen... Before my settlement is torn asunder...
Not sure what everyone thinks, but I think it'd be cool to have random events like this (on the Tarrasque awakening, though, probably instead of GM, say it would only happen at a 0.00001% chance or some absurdly low number and then not for awhile. The Tarrasque generally are slumbering for a long time before they wreck havok. I really don't think he should be popping up every tuesday.)
On the other hand, the Tarrasque being in PFO is a whole other thing. If it's true to the PnP, it will be a REAL NIGHTMARE to take down. Actually... Maybe we shouldn't include him. *shudder* (As far as I know, PnP Tarrasque is scaled down for the crazy 4-6 man band. I would think that PFO Tarrasque would have millions of HP, and quite possibly require multiple guilds to take down.)

Actually I suspect the Tarrasque, and invading hordes of savage humanoids, are the kind of "Monster" events the Devs were looking at running every so often.
Constant PvP can help drive a story, but so can slightly randomized PvE. The Environment shouldn't just go away because people are fighting. Wandering Monsters are a classic P&P staple. Corrupted Blood may be going over the top into Griefable territory but thats an example of non-monster PvE making things different from what's expected.
The point is to add a bit of chaos where it otherwise may not exists. EVE gate camping fleets are basically scripted, down the minium number and types of ships needed to setup and maintaining a lockdown on a low sec gate (including dealing with NPC gate guns). They only have to worry about an opposing Player fleet of greater size/ability coming to attack them. If they also had to worry about getting jumped by a totally random Concord (space police) or NPC pirate group passing through (with randomized ship types/strengths) it would very much change the meta. Same thing goes with mining in EVE, the NPC "spawns" that show up are very predictable and can be planed for.
Predicable systems are boring systems, which is why the concept of Open PvP worlds exist and not just PvE theme parks, players/humans are innately forces of chaos on an ordered system, which makes the game world more unpredictable, which makes it an going challenge.
I guess I'm saying at minimum don't forget the Wandering Monsters. This is a living fantasy world full of fantasy creatures. They aren't all going to stand around in little clumps next to resources scratching their butts waiting to get jumped.
Simple d20 game mechanic on perception. A battle (and by battle that would be assuming about 8 participants) has a -10 to the Perception DC. Every 10 feet adds +1. A full on fight can be heard 100 feet away without even trying (DC 0). A typical unskilled 1st level goblin warrior will likely have a 50% change at 200 feet. Animals (which are often default trained in perception and base 12 wisdom) will have at minimum +5, which means a total 100% chance at 150 feet, 50% at 250 feet. As you get tougher and tougher animals and monsters that radius only increases. Many monsters are known for not carrying about danger and will virtually always move toward noises.
The difference between just walking and a battle comes out to 200 feet worth of sound in the P&P game. So a group of basic goblins that wouldn't have even noticed you suddenly get a 50% change (per goblin) to now notice the fight and decide if they want to come over and find out what's up.

Well, going to war with another kingdom is NOT some piece of cake. It's a large effort of time and resources, of planning and preparation.
Now imagine that just as you carry out your well planned attack a random mob spawns and kicks your force to smithereens allow you opponent to mop up the spoils of your random misfortune.
I would not enjoy that at all!
Tarrasque spawning should be an event that foreshadows itself somehow or even be directly influenced by PvE (not caring enough to stop the cult of Rovagug in any hex can lead to the spawning of an apocalyptic monster like the Tarrasque).
Wandering Monsters will be in as per dev blog. They even will attack your structures if you let them grow for too long. That is all fine and well because you know it and can predict it.
But NPCs should never play a large role when 100+ players start to engage 100+ players on the battlefield in all out war!

I like the idea of being able to influence where the "Escalation" of mobs might end up heading!

I don't think you want the community from MMORPG.com to play this game. Just saying...
The subscription model will weed out 90% of them. This is the #1 reason why I fully support subscription models. Please GW consider never going F2P. It's the same reason you go out to eat at nice places.

I will have to agree with both comments lol.
I did a response to an idiot on there... The customer service thread on the forum.
Lets keep working on it there though, most may not fit well into the game, but Ive looked there for a new game to play and love this game model.

Bear in mind mmorpg.com is a commercial site and runs on hits/clicks/ads as much as it is a site on the critical merits of the mmorpg genre or not. Drama generally generates the most hits/motivation even so-called respectable news sources.
Just provide information is the best practice on other sites ie boring content! I'd be interested to know how much exposure various websites harbour for PFO. Targeted seems possibly best. In fact EVE seems to do well off that basis of "find someone in-game / join a corp / join EVE University first / ask for...." in combination with a trial/code.
