Perception - trait class skill

Advice

Was wondering if there was a way to get perception as a class skill by using a trait.

I am making a Fighter and multiclassing isn't an option.

Must worship Abadar though.

Militant Merchant trait.

Usually you have to be a dwarf but nobody cares about those race restrictions most of the time.

in the pathfinder society guide to organized play.

there are the observant and tomb raider traits.

both have an option that grants +1 to perception checks and treats perception as a class skill.

there is also a trait in the dragon empires primer that grants it too. but you have to be a tian human.

militant merchant can be found in Taldor, Echoes of Glory. it could apply to any merchant family. even though it was originally intended for Taldan Dwarves.

ask to your GM if u can replace one of your class skills for perception

Or see if they will let you make your own trait that grants it as a Class Skill.

if you can't get a perception trait.

there are also the feats, cosmopolitan and hermean blood.

but observant, in one of my previous posts, is a fairly generic concept.

ignore the fluff from the PFS guide to organized play, and you get, +1 to perception checks and the ability to treat it as a class skill.

Trait Guide

You missed Valashmai Veteran, Balloon Headed, and three campaign traits.

If the character comes from Magnimar, there's Underbridge Dweller: Perception becomes a class skill, and you get a +2 bonus to Perception checks in dim light.

Well, here are some more details.
Fighter - Human (Ulfen) for the Reign of Winter AP
I don't know exactly what the campaign traits are gonna be, so I am willing to burn a feat on getting perception as a class skill. Maybe that knowledge will.

I personally find Perception to be the best skill in the game, and that is why I would like to get it higher via traits and/or feats.

You don't have to be human to get Valashmai Veteran. You just have to have a back story that includes spending a lot of time in a southern Tian jungle.

I have that trait for my nagaji PC in Pathfinder Society. It fits since Valashmai is right next to Nagajor, which is the homeland of the nagaji. My character was banished as a child, so he spent a lot of time in the neighboring country growing up.

Skill focus will work the same as class skill, until you get more than 10 ranks. Also lets you take draconic Eldritch heritage.

I honestly can't wait to get my hands on Reign of Winter...

Skill Focus is pretty good for getting the skill as a "Pseudo-Class Skill".

This may be slightly off topic but if ever you want to use another race's trait, just take the Adopted trait. It lets you have one racial trait from another race... you just have to have been adopted by a member of that race during your childhood. It's great RP for elves and other long-lived races. :)

I have found this is the best choice - You'll have to work it into your backstory, but you can always say your character spent some time doing tours of duty in the valashmai jungle, or some other interested explanation.

Valashmai Veteran
You have traveled to the Valashmai Jungle on numerous occasions, and your prowess in traversing the jungle wilderness makes you a formidable guide and explorer.

Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception checks, and a +1 trait bonus on Survival checks in jungle terrain. One of these skills becomes a class skill for you.

Or as it was said before, take adopted and that will let you take a trait reserved for a different race, like militant merchant. I used this trait once to take "Helpful" (halfling trait) for a human.
