Power attacking, and tripping

Rules Questions

K so i have inproved trip and greater trip,

I trip a guy and attack him using power attack as an opportunisty attack, if i want to trip a another guy will my cmb have minuses from power attacking?

Afaik combat maneuvers take all penalties that an attack made in their place would have had, so I'd say yes.

Yes, attack penalties (power attacking, fighting defensively, lunging, etc) apply to combat maneuvers. Likewise, applicable bonuses (flanking, attacking invisibly, higher ground, True Strike, and so on) apply.

(CRB pg 199, under "Performing a Combat Maneuver")

What's opportunisty?

It's like a spoonful of sugar.

Makes the bad guy go down, the bad guy ,go down...

Just take Felling Smash so that the order is backwards, whenever you successfully power attack you get to trip, with greater trip you then get to power attack again while he's prone, doing a maneuver and damage twice...

LOL! Hilarious! :D

I am assuming he is talking about as an Attack of Opportunity, and I would have to say he has it wrong. You can't do a power attack as an AoO. You must decide you are going to do it at the START of your turn, and it lasts a full round till your next turn. It's bonuses and penalties then affect all your attacks and combat maneuvers.

You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all melee attack rolls and combat maneuver checks to gain a +2 bonus on all melee damage rolls...You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll, and its effects last until your next turn. The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage.

Your words don't match the text you quoted.

You said you have to declare it at the start of your turn - the feat doesn't say that.
You said it has to last a whole round - the feat only says until your next turn. (That will normally be 1 round, but that's not what the feat requires.)

You are mostly correct, but just for the record lunge do not have penalty to the attack.
