Wasum presents: Tonk the Mank, a weird monk

Advice

Get to know Tonk the Mank!

He just goes crazy with his temple sword. This assumes RAW when it comes to Sohei. I've read all the discussions, if you do not support RAW on this or just dont share my oppinion on RAW (even though its RAW:P) - this is not the thread to discuss it!

I'd love to find some tips and ideas to improve this!

Every creature tripped triggers 2 AoO's. Considering 3 enemies threatened he can perform up to 12 attacks using up all his availible AoOs. He has a mount too, just saying. That mount has combat reflexes too. Due to Greater Trip his mount can perform 3 AoO's as well - and attack by itself of course. If the mount was a cat with pounce they both could dish out up to 20 attacks a round (12 Tonk, 5 pounce, 3 AoO's). I decided to get an Arsi#2 anyway because his DPR is better when not pouncing and similar when he is. In addition to that his AoOs are just way better than a cats (6d6 + 46 vs 2d6 + 32 and less to-hit).

Yep, thats him - he has a relative, Sau Stark the mammoth riding archer found in another thread. Both Together would probably the ultimate overkill due do insane amounts of attacks and AoO's when fighting together.

Having looked it over, I do not believe that Trample would work with just having trample (EX), as the feat text specifies that you need to be mounted.

Trample:
Trample (Combat)

While mounted, you can ride down opponents and trample them under your mount.

Prerequisites: Ride 1 rank, Mounted Combat.

Benefit: When you attempt to overrun an opponent while mounted, your target may not choose to avoid you. Your mount may make one hoof attack against any target you knock down, gaining the standard +4 bonus on attack rolls against prone targets.

Having said that, I'm not sure why it wouldn't work when mounted. It's admittedly a lot of text, from classes I'm unfamiliar with.

I assume when you talk about RAW, this is the whole flurrying in armor bit? I've never really looked at this archetype, so I'm not familiar.

Additionally, it's a lot of text to look over the full 20th level build - it's possible that's why people are skipping - it's a lot of time to go over all the details. Having said that, Tonk looks like he'd be a hell of a lot of fun to play with - that many AoO's is just good times for adjacent allies.

I'm not a Monk guy - can they normally trip for their flurries? Because HOT DAMN, man - that last block looks nasty. :)

Yea, they can flurry.

And actually he is meant to ride his mount, so trample should apply - if there where hooves he could use. but its weird that an animal with the trample (ex) cant trample:D But I guess thats RAW and therefore Tonk has to find another feat:(

And yes - I'm pretty sure Tonk would really rock in an actual game. He's playable throughout all levels, it was kind of hard to organize the feats so that he can be a viable character from begin, but actually its possible. He starts getting really tough at level 1 and doesnt really have a "weak" phase in all the levels up to 20.

Yeah, I guess it'd depend upon the game - that strikes me as an odd interaction, as the creature probably does have hooves (as the actual Arsinoitherium seemed to), it just doesn't have a listed hoof attack.

The consistency is a really solid plus for him, I think. At no point would I be sad to see Tonk on my side of a fight.

Haste doesn't stack with flurry

Sovereign Court

If you want to flurry you need to ditch your armor. The Shoei's armor proficiency doesn't provide the ability to flurry in armor. This has been clarified by the author of the class.
