Will the Meet and Greet be somewhere onsite now? or is there a nearby alternative?
Not sure exactly where this hotel is compared to other "Airport" hotels but if it's not too far away I found a place last trip to Seattle that was a 50's diner style. Huge meals, reasonable prices. I know where it is, right by the new Hampton Inn, just trying to recall the name.

What's the parking situation at the hotel for those of us who are local and won't be staying at the hotel? Can we pay the day parking rate and park at the hotel, or is that for guests only?
Te rates we've shown should be available to all of our attendees. Just be sure to mention that you are there for PaizoCon.

My best guess is that may have been the 13 Coins...?

Hmmmm.... Badge and Banquet CHECK....Flight from East Coast...CHECK.....Room reserved CHECK
Attending first PaizoCon...CHECK
What???? There's NO INFORMATION I can find on the convention events? I don't play Pathfinder Society so what else is there to do? I want to do some role-playing but not Pathfinder Society.
What other events, work shops, are there?
Where is a list of what happened at last years 2012 PaizoCon?
Help a "newbie" out here! I'm sure many first time attenders have the same questions. ;)

Hey Monkplayer,
It will be another few months before we begin to post the events. We are still coordinating the Special Guests and working on our internal programming for the show.
We will have a variety of panels and workshops that are open seating, as well as open gaming areas and plenty of non-Pathfinder Society gaming.
Keep your eyes peeled for more news!

It's not easy to read, but the event listing is here. Don't let the long list of PFS events fool you, there were other games available. Keep an eye on the blog for event submissions and you could even put up your own event. I might have one of my own this year. ;)

Con and Banquet tickets: check!
35 minute drive from home to the hotel: check!
July can't get here fast enough. My first Paizocon and I'm bringing two of my kids with me. Going to be a blast, methinks!
35 minutes? That about the same for myself. I'm in Frederickson, south-southwest of Puyallup. Where are you?

Thank you for the fast reply and the info! I'm looking forward to attending my first Paizocon. I will be the tall guy who looks like a gawking tourist as I walk around the con!

Monkplayer, keep an eye out for other non-official games as well. Last year I got to play Star Frontiers and a Firefly game using the Deadlands mechanics; previous years included Star Wars and other RPG and non-RPG games. Then there were other official games (like James Jacobs' CoC game) which should fill any need for non PFS play.

This was a great idea. I got a good idea of what similar events may happen for 2013.I'm a newbie GM and want to learn all I can about being a great GM. What events/work shops where there last year centered around Gming?
Who will attend this year's con that's considered a phenomenal GM? Monte Cook? How do you get the opportunity to talk with them?

No clue who the special guests will be yet. The special guests have been pretty approachable in the past.
As to phenomenal GMs, it really depends on the game you want to play and who's running what. If you don't want to run any PFS, you'll be thinning some of your options, but there are always great games to be had.

So I am going with two friends, is there anyway I would be able to sign all of us up for events?
When events are announced and sign-ups go live, there has been a way to sign up with a buddy. IIRC, it's been limited to one buddy, but I acknowledge I haven't used it so I don't recall every detail. Presuming something similar is offered again thus year, it will be part of the event announcement.

There are lots of phenomenal GMs you've never heard of, so I'd say don't get hung up on someone's fame as an indicator of their skill or enjoyability at running a game. That said, if you want to it a table with an industry pro, there are PLENTY of those run by Paizo staff, Paizo freelancer contributors like me, and 3PP authors (also like me), many of whom are delightful GMs, and even if someone isn't the world's greatest GM by some objective measure (if that even exists), the chances are pretty good that they and the others at your table will be pretty fun people to spend a couple of hours with, and then it's off to your next game.

Aw shucks, glad you and the missus enjoyed.
I usually try to run a session or two at PaizoCon (I've even run PFS games a few times), though it's fun to play as well! Also, don't underrate the value of private/pick-up games (like the ongoing "Paladin in Hell"), panel discussions, or just chatting it up with people you know or people you don't!
One of my other hats is as an educational researcher, and I remember the first time I went to the American Educational Research Association conference I was running from session to session, panel to panel, seeing all these amazing educators and hearing papers presented, etc., and being confused as to why I saw so many people sitting around talking in the halls. I thought to myself, "Don't they know they're MISSING everything?"
It wasn't until I had been to a few more conferences that I realized that they weren't missing a thing. The meetup with people from around the country or around the world, in the context of some kind of meeting of general common interest, was as big or bigger than the conference itself. Sure, they wanted to share research and learn new ideas, but it also served as a convenient excuse to see familiar faces and reconnect. My advice to you is not to neglect that time and that opportunity.
Be polite, of course. Don't be pushy and interrupt somebody in the middle of a conversation, but also don't be shy about introducing yourself. Heck, you can talk about things that have nothing to do with gaming. Greg Vaughan and I first got to know each other chatting about basketball!
Above all, just be open to having a good time, and keep your head up and around to spot an opportunity to make a connection (or even a friend). The games will be there and gone, but a friend you'll remember long after the dice are packed away.

Rob Bowes Lone Wolf Development |

Out of curiosity, does PaizoCon draw a lot of vendors to it, like Chessex dice, or the HeroLab people, or any of that stuff? Or is it all Paizo, all the time?
Lone Wolf sets up and mans the Hero Lab Character Creation Stations outside of the PFS play area every year, and we'll be back again this year. We don't have a table in the vendor room, but we're readily available to provide demos and answer questions throughout the show. In fact, our hours of availability are actually longer than the vendor room in order to give everyone access to the Character Creation Stations prior to the first round of games in the early morning. :)
We'll also be doing multiple Hero Lab seminars at PaizoCon and showing off our new Realm Works product, which will be officially releasing in July this year.
