Well, for Fallout, as long as I have a 3rd person option, I'm good. I'm not one of those people who needs 1st person to "feel more immersed." I like playing in 3rd person.
But for other games, yes, adjusting FOV mitigates, though does not cpletely eliminate the effect. I was able to play some Borderlands with a friend for a little while because the FOV was more forgiving.

You are not alone DQ. I couldn't play any of the half life games.

Borderlands (the original) is another game that caught some flak for having a fixed 60 (IIRC, may have been a bit higher) FoV. You could hack it higher, but certain points of the game just broke if you didn't have the proper FoV setting (anything involving a Catch-A-Ride vehicle being one of them as I recall).
But yeah, Fallout 4 looks like it has a less s@&&ty 3rd person mode, so that's good. The 3rd person running animations have steadily been getting better, so hopefully Fallout 4 makes it worth using for people who just want to see their character running around.
Though, not sure why people are saying they need 1st person to be "more immersed". I prefer 1st person because it's designed as a 1st person game. Most 3rd person shooters work differently than FPSes, and going 3rd person in an FPS usually makes it harder to aim.

What Makes you S.P.E.C.I.A.L
I like the way these are done in that it's what I would picture how the Fallout Guy would be animated. Also, there's a touch of the surreal that is very true of those PSA Films from the 50's and 60's.

I had forgotten about this thread.
I planned on checking the Nexus mod site, but I also trust you all's opinions on what mods to use.

Does anyone have a list of some good Fallout New Vegas mods? I will be getting my new gaming computer next week and I want to start a modded FO - NV run.
Edit - Why not. Are there any good FO 3 mods too that you all would recommend?
For Fallout New Vegas, the New Vegas Uncut mods are really good. I use Freeside Open, Pacers Gambit, Outside Bets, a Van Graff Scorned, and a Thorny Situation. They restore cut content and fix a bunch of bugs. These things in particular make Freeside and the immediate New Vegas a lot more interesting and dynamic as the devs originally intended, both with more quests as well as fixing existing quests to resolve properly. Freeside Open in particular is very graphically demanding (it folds the Mormon Fort into Freeside so you don't get a load screen when transitioning and more heavily populates Freeside, so the environment being loaded is a lot larger) so you should read the author's warnings about problems with it. It has made my game crash on occasion, but not obnoxiously or game-breakingly so.
I also use a combo of Fellout NV which makes the sky less orange and the night sky darker, and a brighter Pip-Boy mod (to compensate for the darker desert nights). I don't remember the Pip-Boy mod name, but it's easily searchable. I keep meaning to switch to a better sky/weather mod and brighter night lights mod but just haven't gotten around to it. I also use vegetation mod but I don't remember which one.
Haven't played Fallout 3 in ages and it's not on my current machine; IIRC I used some bugfixes and Fellout. There are of course some amazing ones out there.

Latest Fallout 4 trailer.
Its a nice pick up with live-action; albeit short. Rumorwise, I read Benecio Del Toro's studio had a hand in making it.

After Mortal Combat X and MGS Phantom Pain, I hope that Bethesda will be able to get the Uncut version published in Germany, as planned :-) / :-( for Doomkitten, I guess...

Because gore in video games makes people into violent savages....
I am not sure it even takes that much to turn gamers into violent savages ;-)

LOL! I saw that one the other day and definitely rings true in many cases.

Apparently someone has released like 20 minutes of footage (which Bethesda didn't approve) yesterday from the actual game - likely a press copy for review. A little bit spoilerish for the intro, but more interesting is the gameplay section with different weapons and fighting super-mutants. If you really scan it, some interesting stuff about the mechanics of combat and perks system.

Literally walking around, eleven minutes of gameplay leaked.
Aww...link taken down. But the "carefully" made me chuckle. So true...
