It's been a couple years I think since I've asked or looked at Threads discussing it, so.... This Gen Con, with the beginning of Season 4, will anyone take another look at the demand or desirability of play beyond 12th Lvl?

So maybe by next Gen Con and the start of Season 5 we can have a 13-16 Tier Scenario, even if Paizo just does one or two Tier: 13-16 (Sub Tiers 13,14; 15,16) Scenarios per year.

Might I ask why Sanctioned Modules being allowed for Characters 13+ isn't adequate?

Or that the specials have subtiers of 12+...

5/5 *

I believe only Race for the Rune-carved Key has 12+ subtier.

I am in favor of this in the future though, but I do think we need babysteps. The power curve gets pretty steep as you approach 15th level.

Maybe Tier 11-15 scenarios (subtiers 11-12, 14-15) max.

The Grand Convocation also had 12+

Buuuut that doesn't help anyone that wasnt there?

Grand Convocation and Race for the Runecarved Key both have 12+. This is indicative of where the campaign is headed for special events.

Silver Crusade 5/5

It's not a matter of not desiring to do it. It's a matter of Mark doesn't have the time to do it. He barely gets out the scenarios in the tiers we're doing now out. He can't do much more. He was able to take his second job (Modules) and wrap it into PFS so that 12+ was able. Until Mark learns how to be Jamie Maddrox(Which he doesn't have time for), we're not getting lvl 12+ 4 hr scenarios.

Grand Lodge 4/5

There is no such thing as 12+ 4 hour scenario. A 12+ scenario would probably run at minimum in 6 hours. Also, we are currently budgeted and have time to produce and release 2 scenarios per month. The customer base is not well served if one of those two is a 12+ scenario.

We've opened up all Pathfinder RPG modules for sanctioned play, and we have added 12+ for the special events. These will have to suffice for now.

Silver Crusade 5/5

It would take 4 hours of adventure and 2 hours just checking all the rules for the shenanigans lvl 12+ characters pull :P

Dark Archive

I would like to play 12+, but I don't know I would want to play 12+ in PFS. it's suppose to be a short dose of gaming, and with some of my experiences some of the 10+ stuff start to run long.

Don't forget that Race for the Runecarved Key has two parts. That's three 12+ scenarios released this summer.

The Second part will be GenCon only.

Wait, ALL modules have been opened up? Because I have two(Beyond the Vault of Souls and Tower of The Last Baron) which don't have chronicles on the AR?

All modules written for Pathfinder RPG have been opened up. The two you mention were written for 3.5. As of yet, none of the 3.5 modules have been opened up.

But Mr. Brock said they were working on it.

I was kind of hoping he would snag the honorific title Sir while he was in the UK, so we could start calling him Sir Michael Brock. ;)

Heh, oops.

Notice in my OP I said it's been a couple years since I looked -- like before any Sanctioned Modules had become sanctioned for Society Play.

I didn't know any existed. (I do now.)

So I guess my real question is this:

Will (Do) the "big" Cons have events for APL 12+ Events?

I'd like to go to a Con every few summers and run a PC through a high level Society Scenario (Seems like every Spring I give a disheartened shrug and say "Well, maybe next summer I won't be so busy.")

But there's no point in running more Home-PFS games to build my PC up if I can't use it in future Cons.

Will (Does) PaizoCon or GenCon or whatever have Events for "high level" PFS?

Mentioned above, but the Grand Convocation at PaizoCon and the special at GenCon (both Friday and Saturday specials) have a tier for 12+.

Thanks!

Because no matter how you raise the bar, there will be those who want more.

That said, we ran a fair number of Sanctioned Modules at Dexcon this year, a few as double slot events.

Unfortunately, I'm with the camp that after level 13 or so it just isn't feasible to run a scenario with adequate encounters in a 4-5 hour slot. Almost all of my own home campaigns in the d20 system started to become difficult to write for at this point, and single encounters could eat up our entire session. Living City, Greyhawk, and Arcanis likewise had trouble at the upper end of their own level caps (~16).

Maybe, some day, Paizo will have the resources and/or be able to have a system in place to get more content created across the level spectrum just so it's there. But it sounds like, at minimum, high level scenarios would need to be two-slot events. This creates the potential to "lose" an entire regular scenario in the two-per-month schedule just to high level play, as I imagine a two-round one would eat up both scenario's word counts. Personally, I'd rather instead see two scenarios with two different tier arrangements than one scenario that only a small fraction of the current player base would get to enjoy.

I appreciate that people want more (it means PFS is thriving!), but I think asking for regular scenarios at 12+ Tiers without at least explaining how the current accommodations fail to meet this need just returns to beating a dead horse. That we've animated, beaten again, and then used Reincarnate to make a whole new go 'round with it.

That would be the "camp" that buys into the objective existence of the continuing sequence of events occurring in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future (a.k.a. "time"). +1 to that. You simply cannot fit a scenario for 12+ characters into a 4-5 hour con-sized slot. Modules are a terrific solution.
