How does researching a new or existing spell work with Sorcercers?

Rules Questions

Can the Sorcerer only add the successfully researched spell to their "Spell Known" when they level or at the end of the research?

Guess not.

You would NOT have to wait until you level. Researched spells are added when you complete the research.

Independent Research: A wizard can also research a spell independently, duplicating an existing spell or creating an entirely new one. The cost to research a new spell, and the time required, are left up to GM discretion, but it should probably take at least 1 week and cost at least 1,000 gp per level of the spell to be researched. This should also require a number of Spellcraft and Knowledge (arcana) checks.

So if you can do it as a sorcerer, you're already in DM territory, so I don't think there are any rules covering WHEN you get your new spell.

The implication is that you get your spell when you complete your research after x-amout of days.

Yes, but Sorcerers are limited by their level for "spells known:" i.e., spell research is not possible unless you have not filled your spells known. You could do research prior to leveling and then add a researched spell. You could research a spell and sell it to Wizards. But spell research is not a "get out of spells known limitation free" card...

I'm gonna point out, my previous point about independent research...and also point out where it says WIZARD and not sorcerer, RAW, Sorcerers can't create or learn spells outside of their allotted known spells.

A sorcerer's selection of spells is extremely limited. A sorcerer begins play knowing four 0-level spells and two 1st-level spells of her choice. At each new sorcerer level, she gains one or more new spells, as indicated on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known. (Unlike spells per day, the number of spells a sorcerer knows is not affected by her Charisma score; the numbers on Table: Sorcerer Spells Known are fixed.) These new spells can be common spells chosen from the sorcerer/wizard spell list, or they can be unusual spells that the sorcerer has gained some understanding of through study.

Hmm, Wonder how that works then, since RAW they can't research new spells, but also RAW they can... flip a coin maybe?

Welcome to fluff getting into the crunch. Maybe sorcerers don't need to pay for research??

Joking...

Once a caster researches an arcane spell for a particular spell list it "exists." It would be on the wizard/sorcerer spell list and would be a valid spell for the sorcerer to learn next time they can add a spell to their list.

If you are letting characters research spells, for a sorcerer, I'd let them spend the money and time doing so. Then next time they gain access to new spells, like leveling up, I would let them add or swap out as per the rules for the class.
