Just curious: what domains do you see used most often in your PFS games? Which ones do you think should be used more, but aren't? Vice-versa?

The Exchange 5/5

Travel is very, very common.

also... ah.... travel.

I rarely see people playing clerics except when I look in the mirror. :-)

I think the Animal domain is fairly popular.

Which ones should be used more? I'm not sure how to answer that question. The Freedom subdomain is pretty awesome, though.

Well, are there any that you read and think "Wow, that's really cool/flavorful/powerful/awesome/etc... why aren't people using it?"

Last night I played in a table with a Healing domain cleric 7 and a cleric 6 of Asmodeus (cant remember domain)! Two clerics in one game, who knew!

I edited my above post.

The Exchange 5/5

My son has a cleric (12th) of Desna (Travel & Luck)
My wife has a cleric (5th) of Cayden (Travel & Strength)
I have 2 clerics:
one (10th level) of Cayden (Travel & Love)
one (1 ftr/2 Clr) of Nivi (Travel & Trickery)

that's 4 clerics that I know.

I played First Steps part 2 with three clerics at the table: Sarenrae, Pharasma and Zon Kuthon. It was an ... interesting mix. At least we didn't have any Paladins along, as well.

Myself, my clerics have Travel & Liberation, Undead, and I don't remember what domains my only-played-once Cleric has, right now.

Scarab Sages 5/5 **

I've got one Cleric (10th) and he's a follower of Sarenrae with the Healing and Sun domains. Let's just say, he doesn't like undead. :)

Grand Lodge 4/5

I have Animal(Feather) and Good for my Cleric. I love my Animal Companion, a boar, at 5th level with the boon companion feat. 37HP with a 22AC.

The Feather domain is awesome. I've used Feather Fall twice to save allies from falling damage. Not to mention gaining the Fly spell at 5th level being all kinds of awesome.

2/5

I really like the Glory domain. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of the Touch of Glory ability; it's great for completing faction missions or UMDing a high level scroll. I had my Inquisitor take the Heroism subdomain, and even with CHA as a dump stat he can socialize well at dinner parties ;)

I haven't played a character with it yet, but I like the Madness domain as well. Confusion is a nice spell to get as a domain special, and Touch of Madness is a nice debuff at higher levels.

Snorffle!

Translation, don't ask about my touch AC.

Silver Crusade 4/5

In one game at the last convention I attended, there were two of us with 1st level clerics of Desna with the Travel and Luck domains at the same table. We got a LOT of mileage out of that Bit of Luck power, along with tag team channeling to heal the group (we both had Selective Channeling, too).

My other cleric is a priestess of Sarenrae with Fire and Glory (Heroism).

Dark Archive 4/5 5/5 **

I have only played one Pathfinder session, with my Elven Cleric of Callistria. However, I can definitely recommend the Luck Domain as good fun. In addition, the whip favored weapon is both fun in combat, and in...certain roleplaying situations.

I just created a Gozrah cleric with Plant and Wind (subdomain of Air). Not sure how it will play out but with entangle and windblast it should be fun. At 8th level I get bramble armor... which I am really looking forward too :) hmmm maybe ocean (water) would be better than wind...

I like the elemental domains because throwing out a little energy damage is cool. I played an air/water cleric at paizocon last year. Icicle, Spark, heal. Icicle, spark, heal. Good times :)

Scarab Sages 5/5 **** Venture-Captain, Oregon—Portland

I have gotten a LOT of use out of the Exploration sub-domain for my Inquisitor of Cayden; the door-sight ability is VERY useful for exploration ;)

Liberty's Edge 4/5 5/5

The only cleric in circulation in my local group is my own 5th level cleric of Iomedae with the honour (sub-domain of glory) and good domains. The honour bound power has come in handy once or twice.

Shadow Lodge 5/5

The most common domains I see are travel, and um travel, and oh and there's travel, and I think one or two more have travel.

It's kind of refreshing not to see travel sometimes.

Figure out the most powerful ones. Those will be the ones you find in PFS.

The Exchange 2/5

My cleric has healing and sun. I've only ever played with one other cleric that had those two, though.

Grand Lodge 2/5 RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I just noticed last night that even if you include all the peripheral deities from the ISWG on top of the Core deities, there are still only two (Iomedae and Sarenrae) which grant the Sun domain.

And frankly, the Sun domain's 8th level power is incredibly strong when you think about it. It's the only thing I'm aware of in the entire game that "beats" at-will deeper darkness. Do you think it's the small deity selection that's keeping people from using it?

Silver Crusade 4/5

I chose Fire and Glory (Heroism) for my cleric of Sarenrae, because Sun just looked like the "kill undead only" domain, which didn't seem generically useful. But given how little I use Glory, I might have been happier with Sun or Healing instead. Fire, on the other hand, has been that character's signature attack since day one, starting with Fire Bolt and Burning Hands, and now throwing Fireballs (she's known as a pyro at this point).

Scarab Sages 5/5 **

Possibly Jiggy, but when I started my Cleric (first PFS character for me) we didn't have any healing and I've played one before. Now my Dwarven Cleric of Sarenrae from Osirion is 10th with the Healing and Sun domains and I've just about taken out an undead encounter (mummies) by myself. Granted, he usually never enters battle himself unless he has to, but he has learned the ability to call forth animal reinforcements. (Yes, I have a summoning Cleric who will heal when needed.)

Grand Lodge

i play a cleric of gorum, but from the beginner's box set. i didn't get to pick my domains - it automatically gives you a strength buff and a damage buff. so far, i'm the only cleric i've seen in our chattanooga pathfinder society.

Dark Archive 5/5 5/5

I have a cleric of Iomedae with Sun and Tactics (war sub-domain).

5/5

My cleric has Darkness and death as a domian.

Grand Lodge 5/5

I think I know of 4 clerics around here. All are Abadar worshippers. 3 use Travel and the Defense (Protection). Mine uses the Defense(Protection) and Inevitable (Law).

Grand Lodge 2/5 RPG Superstar 2015 Top 32, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

That's it, time for me to make a Sun/Glory cleric of Iomedae! The dark will fear me!

I have a cleric of Iomedae with the War and Sun domains. This was back before all those newfangled subdomains were added. He is poised to make great use out of the War domain's 8th level power, and is set up to be an undead's worst nightmare, with Extra Channel and Quick Channel, and later, add Evil Outsiders to that list with Alignment Channel and Channeling Smite.

Well, yeah, but Kyra's not built to take advantage of them...so she really doesn't count. ;)

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Shelyn has blessed me with the domains of Luck and Protection. I'm still trying to figure out that trickery with the Charm domain that recently had me second guessing my entire life. Maybe Shelyn was trying to tell me I should have been blessed by Charm domain? I don't know.

I'm not sure exactly why, but Luck domain was much better when I was a younger cleric who was not as wise about the world.

yeah, but we know why...:
Bit of Luck used to be much better before errata'd. Such is life. Also, it was a lot easier to give up the standard action when lower level than now.

Liberty's Edge * Venture-Lieutenant, North Carolina—Raleigh

Currently in PFS my eponymous character is a Half-Elven Ranger 1/Cleric 3 of Desna with Travel... and Liberation. The rest of his levels will be Ranger.

I also have a Half-Elven Cleric 2 of Sarenrae, Fire and Sun. (This one is staying single-classed)

Silver Crusade 4/5

There's an errata to Bit of Luck? Is there something I should know?

Liberty's Edge 1/5

Bit of Luck was originally of the form: roll 2 d20s, take the better. It's now of the form: after rolling, decide if you want to reroll, must take the reroll.

Silver Crusade 2/5

Uhhh...I've got two clerics of Abadar, both who have the travel and protection domains. One is a standard mace and shield cleric...the other dual wields sawtoothed sabres.

Travel is crazy good with a +20 move speed bonus for a one level dip. And protection's +1 to all saves is nice, too.

Oh. And a paladin of Abadar...and an Oracle of Abadar.

Yes...yes he is my favorite god. Why do you ask?

'Scuse, please, Travel only adds 10'.

Or are you including Longstrider? IMO, Remove Fear is a better choice... Then again, my Cleric with Travel is an Archer, so the movement was a nice bonus, and not needed for anything, other than the opportunity to teach people who should know better how Haste adds to movement speed....

I was indeed including longstrider. And yes, haste is amazing...Mr Damocles uses it a lot.

Hopefully, you are one of the people who actually know how Haste works.

So many times I see someone with a 20' speed claiming they can move 50' per move action, or telling me my PC with a 40' base speed can move 80' per move action....

Or trying to get an extra attack with a standard action...

Oy.

Nope, I'll settle for a 60' move thank you! And that extra attack on a full attack is really nice for a Sorc6 Oracle 1. BAB? What in the world is that?

Grand Lodge 2/5

My Druid gave up his Familiar for Weather. 1d6 damage for a ranged touch attack which gives that monster -2 to hit for 1 round is disgusting at levels 1&2.

Dark Archive 5/5

Pathfinder Adventure, Adventure Path, Maps Subscriber

Shaian Trickfoot is a cleric of Milani with Healing and Purity domains.

I'm still not getting a good sense of how his personality is supposed to feel though. (We needed another low level healer, I wanted a Silver Crusade faction adherent in my stable, and his personality has NOT been helped by First Steps, GM credit, and Feast of Ravenmoor.... Other than not liking bugs.)

Can you link this, cause I cant find it on the PRD or FAQ?

Liberty's Edge 1/5

I double checked the errata, and I don't see errata for Bit of Luck. I suspect that I looked at the errata that is there for the Luck domain's Good Fortune ability and thought it was for Bit of Luck.

My apologies for misdirecting anyone on this. Jeff, thanks for calling me out on it. My cleric thanks you, too.

I dunno. I think Undeath domain might be even more of a nightmare.

"So, he is making me do WHAT?!"

"Hey, look, that skeleton never even got to attack us, he just wound up giving his unlife to protect the party from some other denizen down here."

Liberty's Edge 3/5

Good and Luck (Cleric of Desna that didn't take Travel, say what?). He is super support man!
