Is counter spelling w / dispel magic a hostile act?

More specifically does Counter Spelling w/ Dispel Magic drop Invisibility?

The Situation:
My Cleric was invisible. A Sorc attempted to cast a lightning bolt at a character. I had readied an action to dispel magic as counter spell. I Identified the spell being cast and then failed to counter spell. GM informed me I was now visible and got hit with lightning bolt.

Not looking to dispute his lightning bolting of my character as it doesn't matter, but is dispel magic as a counter spell a hostile act? If so I'll just have to be more careful in the future. Thanks.

For purposes of this spell, an attack includes any spell targeting a foe or whose area or effect includes a foe.

Counterspell: When dispel magic is used in this way, the spell targets a spellcaster and is cast as a counterspell. Unlike a true counterspell, however, dispel magic may not work; you must make a dispel check to counter the other spellcaster's spell.

With that said, your character would have known that, and I would have allowed you to try something else before you made the roll.

Ah, I missed that it targets the spell caster. I'll just be more careful in the future.

Also, as an aside, you don't have to identify the spell to counter it with dispel magic.

Also, as an aside, it shouldn't have mattered whether you were invisible or not. The caster has to decide where the lightning bolt is going before he casts it. The caster can't suddenly decide to put it somewhere else when you interrupt the casting and become visible. You were either in the area when he started casting or not.

Casting Time: "You make all pertinent decisions about a spell (range, target, area, effect, version, and so forth) when the spell comes into effect."

If you are a Summoner with Summon Monster I Spell Like Ability, and someone casts Summon Monster I spell could you use your Summon Monster I Spell Like Ability to counter the opponents Summon Monster I Spell? I'm not saying it's a great move I'm just wondering. If a spell like ability can counter a spell if they are the same.

"Spell-like abilities cannot be used to counterspell, nor can they be counterspelled."
