Maybe I'll give them a try. Or maybe I'll get through Serial Experiments Lain on my third (or is it fourth?) try.
Frieren and AD were very good. One thing I really appreciated about the AD anime is that it showed us much more of the interactions between non-MaoMao people than the manga did. I assume cuts were made when adapted from the LNs, so a bunch of stuff going on that didn't make much sense in the manga did in the anime.

That and the new Ranma project are indeed not expected, but not as surprising as they would have been without the remakes of "Spice and Wolf" and Urusei Yatsura already gracing our screens.
"Train to the End of the World" was entertaining, but definitly a story where the journey is the important bit, not the end.
"Mysterious Disappearances" was mostly fun, and I think that's most of what I watched this season.

We all love a good harem comedy, but how to choose best girl?
Do we go for the cheeky one with the put-downs, the cool and collected girl or the classic tsundere? The answer is "why not all of them?", and to save time and effort, make them all into the same character.
This is Pseudo Harem in a nutshell. I was surprised it got an anime considering the manga ended a few years ago, but the surprise is a pleasant one. It's a sweet little romantic comedy which will brighten my day.
I've also heard some rumors of more Bakemonogatari on the horizon, so I'm giddy with excitement for that.

What are people watching this season?
The Bakemonogatari spin-off is not as good as the main story, but I'm still enjoying it.
Apart from that and Pseudo Harem, the only show that has me interested is Too many losing heroines. Slice of lifey, a reluctant protagonist who ends up hanging out with too many girls who get rejected by their crushes. The animation is surprisingly good for a show of its type, and the humor is just right low-key and relatable.
I tried Love is indivisible by twins but all I got out of it was the author saying "look at all the Western media I know of".
Mayonaka Punch is CGDCT. 'let's learn how to be Youtubers' edition, with vampires. I watched the first three episodes but I will probably drop it.
My deer friend is a gag anime about a girl with deer antlers and a former delinquent. I might watch the second episode at some point.
The Suicide Squad isekai lost me at the first episode, Partially because I'm very picky about my isekais, partially because they chose a horribly dull and boring voice actor for the two lines that they gave the Joker.

We've been keeping up with the new Spice and Wolf along with Kaiju No.8, which will be a lot easier if we can work out our schedule to allow anime night every week instead of every other week.
Mashle is our detox episode after Megalobox Nomad's serious story. We're also working through Dungeon Meshi, sometimes multiple episodes at once. The dragon arc was definitely something!

Tying the knot with an Amagami sister is, to be a bit facetious, basically the same story as "Temple" from last year. Technically they are different but the set-up is still Protagonist-kun goes to live in a temple and get romantically involved with the hot girls living there with a variety of standard harem comedy hijinks. Yes, there are differences in Reasons The Protagonist is there and supposedly in personality as well, but I have a hard time keeping them separate. I still read both and will enjoy watching this.

New Dragon Ball Daima series started today and honestly It's not bad
Starts almost immediately after the Buu saga, so around 3 or 4 years before Super.
Biggest thing so far about it

Thunderbolt Fantasy is back and I have to find a recap because I only vaguely remember everything that has happened so far. Still a blast to watch.
Ranma 1/2 has started up and the girl and I are having a ton of fun.
If my wife turned into an elementary school student has gotten an adaptation. It is not nearly as creepy as it sounds. Kid realizes she is the reincarnation of a dead woman and gets back in touch with her former husband and their daughter. Difficult, at moments touching, and basically a kind exploration of grief and character improvement. I've read the manga and don't feel the need to watch the show. It was fine but not so fine I feel the need to experience it twice.

Okay, our choices for new shows last night was not the expected titles.
Dandadan and Bang Brave Bravern are absolutely wild. Thank goodness that Iruma-kun was a chill season finale episode that let us breath.
Maybe the time has come. Maybe I should just give up and get Crunchyroll.

Remake coming in 2025; Cat's Eye
This is probably one of the earliest anime I ever saw as a kid. This a few others would run on CBC french (along with Harlock, Cities of Gold and an anime of Anne of green gables of all things). Being the latest series to get a modern remake is great to see. Can't wait for it....but looks like I'll need to restart my Disney+ subscription

Only thing I've seen of Cat's Eye was the Lupin III crossover last year.
I loved Mysterious Cities of Gold, though not as much as Shagma (Spartacus and the Sun beneath the Sea/Les Mondes Engloutis). I never did get around to watching the sequel. I also liked Harlock but Queen Milennia was the one Leijiverse story that stuck with me from childhood. The anime that really had me hooked as a kid was Robotech.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Speaking of classics getting something new, Lupin III is getting a new movie in 2025, and I am SO HYPED!!
I believe it is meant to tie off the Jigen, Goemon and Fujiko specials

Every season we get two or three isekai these days, so I tend to look for the ones that have an interesting twist
Next month we get "The Red Ranger becomes an adventurer in another world"
A Power Ranger gets Isekaied. Complete with his transformation, Ranger weapons and freaking Giant Robot.
I love me a good Genre Clash so I'm going to check this out
