Otaku Elf seems basically like a gentle reverse isekaied Himotou Umaru-chan. I'll keep watching, at least for a bit.

Mashle: Magic & Muscles is basically what would happen if Goku went to Hogwarts. The Potterverse is so thinly disguised here I wouldn't be surprised if Rowling could sue and win. It has one joke so far but it's entertaining enough for the half-arsed watching I often do with these series.

I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in the Real World, Too is the most blatant and poorly-written power fantasy I've seen in a long time, possibly the worst since my own terrible attempts in high school.
I'm almost tempted to watch to see how much more cringeworthy it can get, but I doubt I'll make it that far.

Damn

Sure are a lot of isekais nowadays.

I think there are 8 this season plus 2 reverse Isekai and 1 Isekai spinoff from Konosuba.

The two Reverse ones have been fun actually.
Otaku Elf is a warm fuzzy to relax with. Sprinkled with historical trivia as Elda remembers how things were done in the good old days.

Dead Mount Death Play is actually pretty interesting so far, staring a Dark Souls Boss who got reincarnated on Modern Day Earth and is looking for a nice quiet life for him and his zombies. Even if he has to murder everyone to get it.

So that KamiKatsu series I mentioned before

Just hit with a Hell of good plot twist
The show has problems but episode 5 was a pretty good game changer for the story.

I am loving The Legendary Hero Is Dead.

Greylurker wrote:
I don't know that there is any other character who has actually gotten to marry his entire harem, and then some.

Space Dandy. It's an intentional parody of other anime so you may be overlooking it.

I can't remember that episode. All I remember is that he kept getting shot down.

It was hard to watch it to the end. The final 2 part episode was the most preposterous.

Grand Lodge

Man, spoilers are everywhere this season. Can't even look at YouTube or Twitter for the most part.

I loved every episode - watched the series twice - but I cannot remember him successfully getting a harem. Time for a rewatch.

Delicious in Dungeons

Grand Lodge

Oshi no Ko doing a recap ep is just insulting.

Silver Crusade

Dark Schneider returns for season 2 of Bastard!! in July.

F~*+ YEAH!

Heavenly Delusion is good. Slight hiccup in the animation two episodes ago but that seems to have been fixed. The story is very good and the latest episode brought some big reveals. I'm excited to see how they finish the season.

Not anime but still fun animation. Skull Island on netflix. Not focused on Kong himself although he is a presence, just mostly people trying (most unsuccessfully) not to die on an island full of monsters.

Annie is a wonderful little feral gremlin. Charlie is ok if a little whinny. Mike's a good guy but It feels like he is destined to mutate into a 2nd season big bad.

Certainly worth checking out if you have netflix

I want season two of Hevenly Delusion ASAP.

I need to finish bastard!! And watch High School DXD on a non-censored platform.

What...the What??

ok this Isekai stuff has gone too far now.

This was posted on rpg.net of an Isekai that might even top that.

Reborn As A Vending Machine, He Now (can't really) Wander The Dungeon (without help)

..So, we have hit peak isekail :3

A die-hard vending machine fan (well, those exist. Have you actually SEEN the variety that exists over there?) tries to prevent a vending machine from falling off the back of a moving truck, thereby becoming the second person this season to be crushed to death.

When he next realizes it... he's now, well, a vending machine. Complete with inability to move and a very limited vocabulary.

Worse... he's in fantasyland. Who the heck knows how to use a vending machine in a non-scifi kitchen sink fantasyland? This story sadly isn't set in the Recettear universe, so those haven't existed yet.

Worse still... he's literally in the middle of nowhere, in the open, in full view of any wandering monsters who happen by. Sadly, none of them seem to have the INT to do anything except hit him to get at his wares.

The only good news here is that he's no normal vending machine, for he partially works off sim game logic, with this point build mechanic. Which does allow him to do things from changing his product lineup, repair himself, generate a shield to deter monsters that try to scrap him etc.

That said, he only has a limited amount of points to start with - and no way to get more points unless someone buys something.

Did I mention he has to pay upkeep with those selfsame points since a power grid doesn't exist - and if he runs outta points (or structural integrity), he literally re-dies?

This is it boys, this is the one that dared to break all the standard isekai tropes by making the MC an all-but-inanimate object , and the best part is, IT STICKS. This is the one that, above all else, refuses to cheat the one-way communication limitation and immobility away.

...That Vending Machine one was better than it had any right to be.

Looks like a dud season so far.
Spy Classroom 2 is here so I'll probably keep watching that.
Temple is a no-brainer since I like the manga.
Dark Gathering ...maybe.
Dreaming Boy is a Realist is *edit* forgettable
Bucket List of the Dead, I'll give it another episode but I doubt I'll end up finishing it.
The Vending Machine Isekai is yet another pile of meh IMO.

The two episodes we've gotten of GXP 2 has made me start rewatching Dual! Parallel Trouble Adventure, which is still pretty damn entertaining. D is probably the only character I've come across that has been a harem-girl to two differrent guys.

First episode of Helck was fun

Helck was better than expected but I didn't expect much. I don't think I'll continue with it unless I'm really, really bored. Or possibly in a better mood.

Synduality Noir was a slightly interesting set-up with mechs fighting not-'Nids but ruins most interest the setting could have with its very shounen-y tropes with shounen-y shounen protag who everyone thinks is useless at piloting mechs until he finds a mysterious hot chick/robot who amazingly synchs perfectly with him to make them amazing pilots.

Undead Murder Farce appears to be a more-Gothic-less-youkai, less pretentious yet more annoying version of Kyokou Suiri. Supernatural detective solving crimes. I may continue with this one, depending on episode 3.

Dark Gathering is getting more interesting as it goes on. This little girl has some scary ways of thinking but clearly she is getting the results she wants. Good Evil, she doesn't care so long as she kills the thing that took her mother.
To that end she is building an army of evil spirits that are terrified of her, using them against each other, forcing them to beg for her protection from the others.

The contrast with her cute character design is very effective.

Pile of new stuff with several that look pretty good. So far

My daughter became an S-Rank adventurer; Not a bad start, central joke could get repetitive but 2nd episode starts introducing elements of a more serious plotline
Frieren: What happens after the adventure, follow the story of a High Elf mage retrace the path she and her friends followed decades ago. This is a pleasant if slightly melancholy watch
Shy Good start to a Superhero story about a young new hero fighting her own anxieties while saving others

let me read the walkthrough....this was much more fun than I had expected, possibly because I had low expectations going it. CGI series about a woman in her 30s isekaied into a Game world after falling to her death. It's by Bilibili and I've enjoyed their stuff before, so I am probably going to stick with this.

Of last season I stuck with Temple and Dark Gathering, the rest having lost my interest. I did manage to get most of the way through Undead Murder Farce, though. This season is more promising, though I'm behind on my initial viewings.

More Ancient Magus' Bride, which is a good thing.

I don't know why Apothecary Diaries has such a late start (21/10, IIRC)but I am SO stoked for this one. Mao-mao is one of the most entertaining protags I've read about in a long time. Technically the show is a period court drama and mystery with some comedy, but that stuff is fairly mediocre. It's Mao-mao's personality and her interactions with Jinshi that make this story such a treat.

Frieren is a good one and has a pretty decent team behind the anime.

I forgot about the existence of the S-ranked daughter until you mentioned it, which should tell you about the impression it made.

I'm in love with the villainess was slightly funny, slightly icky, meaning I will probably drop it. I may watch another episode if I remember it.

The Faraway Paladin; Rust Mountain story has been great and feel very rooted in D&D. Excellent portrayal of a Paladin and I have to admit I am finding Stagnate, God of the Undead, very interesting. An evil god who loves humanity, who thinks beautiful things, like a heroic spirit, should last forever.

and evil god that just wants to help

I'm in.

Apart from the ones I've already mentioned I'm watching, I've stuck with IILWTV. I r ewatched Haibane Renmei because it's good, and somehow I have been paying attention to Kingdoms of Rust.

The 100 Girlfriends who really really really really really love you has been boring, frankly. I love me a good harem comedy and this is not a good harem comedy. Bonus points for protag not wanting a bunch of innocents to die but I'm sticking with Girlfriend Girlfriend for "honey, can we add another girl to our relationship?" hijinks.

New season and so far I've tried:

Apothecary Diaries, which had 24 episode instead of the 12 I had assumed it would get, which makes me happy. It apparently follows the LN more closely than either of the manga series (yes, it has two concurrently running mangas) that I've read, which fills in a few things that left me slightly puzzled. WOOT!

New shows for us Gentlemen of Culture with anime titties galore this season.
Gushing Over Magical Girls sees our protagonist be a little bondage queen villain who has some interesting ideas about what fighting magical girls entails. Utter trash and you know I'm gonna watch this one with glee.

Tales of Wedding Rings is an isekai where the protag doesn't die, gets hooked with his childhood friend almost immediately, and can go home again. The story has some minorly interesting twists down the line, though I don't think the anime will get to that bit this season. By the team that brought us Dusk Maiden of Amnesia a few years ago.
Not quite as trashy as GOMG but still firmly in the guilty pleasure category.

Metallic Rouge. Something something androids and mechs. I wasn't paying attention. Maybe I should rewatch the first episode.

Mato Seiehi no slave . Guy makes a deal with a hot chick to fight monsters, gets kisses in return for turning into a slavering monster. Trash but probably not my type of trash.

Ishura, isekai from the POV of a native sidekick. I might watch another episode.

Oh man.

Grand Lodge

Finally catching up on Jujutsu Kaisen. Man, that reveal was good. Haven't remained spoiler free, but seeing it play out has been good.

Mashle is also 100% worth it, with bamboo bro stealing the show from everyone. Hoping he doesn't get relegated as a side character.

Loving ZOM 100.

I'm watching a lot this season.
7th Time Loop is pretty standard shoujo fantasy but entertaining enough.

Bang Brave Bang Bravern is surprisingly entertaining, with a serious alien invasion mech world and hero mech that's straight out of an exaggeratedly heroic kiddie show. And that ED...

The Way of Pon is CGDCT - mah jong edition. Not entirely sure I'll finish it but for now it's just entertaining enough that I'm bothering with it, with a catchy OP that proves even autotune doesn't have to ruin everything. Sure, it would be better without autotune but it doesn't make it terrible.

I need to watch Bang Bang Bravern.

Like I really need to.

But I am loving Delicious in Dungeon.

Today's Lesson
If you are not a Magical Girl and you are attacked by a Monster, a Brick can be just as effective as a Magic Wand.

More proof that Sulfur is Best Girl.

I mean the show is what it is, but yeah, Sulfer is a fantastic Magical Girl Brawler.

Suicide Squad Isekai is looking better with every new trailer

One weird Isekai anime is titled something like 'My overpowered death ability lets me win.' or something like that.

Usually, an Isekai has truck-kun wallop someone into another world and they display special powers, get attractive people following themselves and save the world and/or other things while maybe giving token nods to having hard fights.

'Death' skips all that and haves the MC an eldritch abomination that can kill anyone and everyone. Think of someone/something. Got it? They dead.

DC/Marvel universe combined? Everyone is dead Dave.

One Punch Man,Popeye with Spinach, SCP-682 from SCP Foundation? Dead-O.

Now the moral of the story would be 'Don't mess with reality ending abomination' with plenty of nasties insisting on doing that and getting killed. However the MC is a very unlikable sort and with the tiny exception of a few cases will kill anyone if they get in his way. Even mind-controlled slaves who are forced to fight will get killed and even if they get freed and promise to return to their lives of pacifist farmers and oh please don't kill us will get killed.

So I think this might count as 'Revenge Isekai' I think where is instead of power fantasies one gets even with people because of reasons.

yeah I kind of didn't bother with that one

but damn I am happy to see a new season of Konosuba.
We got Chris shenanigans coming this season

More Konosuba, more Date A Live: this alone will make this season decent. Still not sure about the other shows, nothing leaps out at me for the moment.

So far only DAL and Konosuba (and the occasional episode of Urusei Yatsura) has made an impression. I've tried a couple of shows but they were so forgettable I've literally forgotten what they were called and what happened in them.

Does anyone have recommendations for good shows I may have missed?

It's a fairly weak season. I've been enjoying "Tsukimichi; Moonlit Fantasy". It's a fairly decent Isekai with some interesting twists. "Delicious in Dungeons" over on Netflix is pretty fun too.

A few other shows that have something neat to them, but nothing really stands out. "Reincarnated as the 7th prince" can be fun when the kid goes psycho to cut loose with his magic, but you have to get past the Shota elements.

Last season had "Frieren" and "Apothecary Diary". Neither was particularly fast paced but both very well written.
