@Aranna: They're generally known as "Otome" games. A few of them (such as Amnesia: Memories) have even been localized. ^^

Oh thanks for all the info... I generally avoid H anything.
I am curious though are there dating sims made for girls? Ones with good story not ones with gratuitous sex.
The genre name you want to look for is otome games (girl games). Usually the main thing distinguishing them from a bishoujo game (pretty girl game) is that the player character is female and is usually working on a romantic relationship with one or more male characters, although female romantic relationships aren't unknown. Bishoujo games typically have a male player character and winding up with a male romance is typically a loose condition. As with everything, there are exceptions.
If wikipedia is to be believed, the Hakuōki series has a few entries released in North America for various systems (PSP, PS3, 3DS)

As others have already confirmed, and i shall add my voice to, there definitely are!
Heck i have even seen several on Steam at this point. (i won't be able to say myself weather they are good or bad, but i know they are there.)

No, I think that I'm only going to dislike a few anime shows, then (which is entirely normal).

interesting.
Tell me more of these titles that you are referring to.
What, the non-nukige eroge?
Well, right off the bat I can tell you that Little Witch Romanesque is a notable one. Both the art style (watercolors) and text style (word balloons, rather than a text box) are unusual for most games.
But far more notable is the dice rolling that makes up this game's actual gameplay (rather than it being a pure visual novel). It's unexpectedly fun, and more appealing than the game's handful of sex scenes (most of which are surprisingly hard to earn). I'd definitely recommend it, if you want a casual game that's fun.
To be fair, this one was never developed into any sort of franchise, so it may not be exactly what you're looking for. But I'd still recommend the game.
...or were you asking about anime that started as eroge?
EDIT: If so, there's Shuffle!, a supernatural slice-of-life harem anime that started as an eroge.
Shuffle! is a pretty basic show, being light on the comedy, instead focusing on the romantic drama between the various characters (or so I recall, it's been a few years since I watched it). It does still highlight the characters fairly well, but the most notable part of the show is that it actually has the male character pick a single girl to be with and deal with the resulting fallout by the end of the show, which is rare for harem stories.

Yes, seed, I'm talking about you.
You too, x.
I actually thought they did a good job with SEED. The sequel to SEED was a train wreck in every possible way though. Which I thought was a great pity.
Still holding out for a second (and third, fourth, fifth and sixth) season of Rokka no Yuusha.
Watched Owari no Seraph over the weekend (second season just about to start!), and was surprisingly caught by the story. I consider an anime good when it intrigues me enough to read the source material... now waiting for the next manga issue...
| Grey Lensman |
I think Rokka has... six volumes out? Pretty sure they adapted two for the anime, so that's enough for only a second and third season at the same pace.
Maybe he just likes it THAT much? I'm hoping Actually, I Am gets additional seasons (they certainly have enough source material), and my wife still holds out some insane hope for additional seasons of Claymore and Bodacious Space Pirates.
I rate the first one at either 'Fat Chance' or a Joker laugh.
The second is slightly higher, but if they can't be bothered to even give an official subbed release for the sequel film in the US, I think that one has likely run it's course.

Actually, the anime only covered volume 1 of the light novel. So there is plenty of material for subsequent seasons! =)
But yes, I also do like it that much. ;)

That's about the limit for anime based on eroge that I'm personally familiar with. That's mostly due to happenstance, but also because the series that pull this off with the greatest success sometimes develop a body of work that can require some commitment to fully get through.
The best example of that is the Fate/Stay Night anime (the original work in what eventually became the entire "Fate/" series). Other notable titles include Koihime Musou, Comic Party, To Heart, and Da Capo.

I KNEW fate was h!
I am already playing koihime musou. I want to find the original to heart because I can only find tamer versions. Will look up comic party when possible.

I gave up on Shuffle! (the anime) about halfway through because a harem situation of that sort is inherently comic and if it tries to be serious it just gets boring. The two fathers were the only funny things about the show.
As for the coming season, Lupin, Owarimonogatari and Yuru yuri are the no-brainers, and all have made strong starts. The manga of Ore ga Ojou-sama [...] is amusing enough so the chances are I will watch the entirety of this one. I'll probably watch Noragami - the first season was ok - but I wouldn't miss it if I never watched it again. The two magic school harem shows are indistinguishable after the first episode and it remains to be seen if I will bother with the second episodes.

See, I gave it points for that. The usual "harem comedy" route is tried-but-true, but at the same time familiar enough that something different is notable.
Insofar as how well a (semi-)serious harem show went, well... Shuffle! wasn't something I think that anyone could call perfect, but my take on it is that it didn't do quite enough with drama, which it absolutely needed to. If you're not utilizing circumstance as a storytelling technique (e.g. adventure), and are instead just letting the characters bounce off of each other, that means you're going to need to rely on either comedy or drama to keep the story going.
Shuffle! did create drama among its characters, but it always felt somewhat forced. The cast were all (for the most part) very easy-going, even with regards to the romantic rivalry amongst the girls. Everyone got along with each other a little too much. Most of the drama was therefore intra-personal (e.g. both Nerine and Sia having an identity crisis), which doesn't carry quite the same weight to it.
The best thing about Shuffle! was that it wasn't afraid to move the situation forward and end up resolving things among the cast (at least, more so than most harem shows).

Cheerleaders/cute girls.
Dude in a mask who thinks he's better than everyone.
I'm surprised the mobile suits don't sing and dance.
I just finished the first episode. While I'm sure the Kenichi Yoshida character designs help, all I can say is...
What sort of happy juice were they pumping into Tomino, and where can I find some?

Ok... I looked up Otome games... I had no idea these were around. But SO many titles and producers. Any recommendations where to start?
Here. You can turn the sexual content off, but for once I don't recommend it. The sex actually serves the story rather than the other way around this time.

Hatoful Boyfriend is unquestionably the world's greatest otome-style pigeon dating-simulator series.
...Also almost certainly the only series in that category, but still. XD If someone wants to play an insane otome game instead of a vanilla romance one, it's pretty hard to top.
Ursula Vernon livetweeted her play through it, and I think someone storified the tweets. They were hysterical.

Of course, when folks think of tokusatsu, they tend to envision more along the lines of this and that.
The day Tokusatsu decided to hit things with their axes (such a variety of axes... great-axes and even orcish double axes galore). And you haven't lived until you get to the extended "death scene with terminal baldness", sans any pyrotechnics (from 22:00)...

4. Profit with more seasons/sequels!Also in dubbed format.
By single season dub, it was just the first 12 episodes that got dubbed before old local distributor, Geneon went belly-up (Sentai handles the distro of this series nowadays).
A "familiar" dub returns. Is NSFW.

Nope, it wasn't just my imagination, there really is a dub.
Not to be viewed at work. Is NSFW too.
It wouldn't surprise me to see a partially completed monster girl costume waiting for me when I go over to his place.

Devils in anime have always been pretty relaxed. XD Maybe it's because Japan's not a particularly Christian nation, but in general, their devils tend to be less bad (and their angels tend to be less good) than in many other societies' portrayals.
...................
...this relaxed attitude is actually recognized in-universe by basically all of the characters, and it's an important plot point. Not every character is happy about it.
Twilight, on the other hand, is just bad. I should know - I read an analysis that went literally line-by-line through the whole series and COUNTED the problems.

No my worries were over nothing. When asked he said it would be too much work to make me a realistic snake half... Still I caught him later doing a sketch of the mermaid girl. So maybe my question gave him ideas. But so far no outfits.

Well, the mermaid would be a lot easier to pull off than a several meters long tail. You could always try to pull off a Shirigami Youko costume, it's far easier. Or, with the proper mini-figure, an Aizawa Nagisa costume (I want a 'life size' Nagisa figure for my shelf, just for the lulz factor).

Its kind of amusing but with the advent of easily accessed 3-d printers it would just require a lot of assembly.
Though pretty much all of them would be really difficult to move about in.
On the topic of crazy cosplay have you all seen the hulkbuster cosplay?
Am excited to see RWBY' coming back.
Just finished The pet girl of Sakurasou.
Very much enjoyed the pacing, was sad that it ended where it did but I think it was for the best. at the very least it finished off the story arc rather than leaving a big honking cliff hanger *glares daggers at*

Considering that there may be someone that wanted to start the series now that Owarimonogatari is out, I thought this list of the Monogatari series made by Akumasubs, an Italian Sub group, could be of use to someone. The chart is mostly in English, but I'll translate the bits in Italian.
On the left, you have the chronological order in which things happen: it's great to make sense of some things after you've watched the anime. There are a couple of notes I'll translate, though.
1)Kabukimonogatari/Onimonogatari and Owarimonogatari II/Nekomonogatari Shiro happens at the same in the, during a four days span.
2)Koyomimonogatari is a series of 12 short stories that span one year from Kizumonogatari to after Tsukimonogatari (i.e Koyomi Dead happens after Tsukimonogatari)
3)These are a couple of novels with extra stories that should come in the future, so we don't know where they'll be: novel wise, the main plot is done.
Hope that was of help to someone ^^

Good news, everyone! Overlord has been licensed, so if you wanted to read the original material in English and enjoy the rest of the story, you'll now be able to.
Also getting a license is Psycome/Psycho Love Comedy, and it's hard to overstate how much I'm looking forward to that coming out. XD
