Shadow Lodge

so im wracking my brain thinking which feats to choose for my level 5 alt character. so far im taking

H no clue
1 extra evolution
3 no clue
5 extra evolution

the theme of the character is to be a paladin-ish avatar of a god that is trying to establish himself in the material plane. im doing: wings + martial weapon proficency + frightful presence + large size with the bipedal base. a fiery death dealer that is chaotic good.

so with this build im thinking powerattack, then cleave. but also dodge, mobility, spring attack, into whirlwind attack seems like a good choice also, then lunge + the reach evolution later on to make a board sweeper.

if anyone has better feat choices i would love to hear them.

I am currently playing a build similar to this, only real difference is flavor (I'm a gnome in mechanical armor like a Steampunk Ironman)

Few things though.

Pounce may only be taken with the quadruped base (for a weapons based pounce you can build a centaur)

Don't bother with the evolution point proficiency simply take the feat for the weapon you wish to wield, the evolution points are worth far more than the feat (imo)

The dodge/mobility/spring attack/whirlwind attack combo doesn't seem to fit your theme, it would make an effective fly-by attacker but I don't really see the "Avatar of a God" as a harassment fighter.

Other evolutions to consider would be Natural Armor, Resistance (Fire or Electricity), Damage Reduction (Evil) and Spell Resistance and anything else that makes you tougher.

You'll want Power Attack at 3.

Since you know you want to use a greatsword, I highly recommend that you instead take Martial Weapon Proficiency (Greatsword) instead of Extra Evolution. The evolution to use the sword costs 2EP, when you would only gain 1 point from a feat.

I like the concept of your sweeping death idea, but that is far too feat intensive to devote any feats to Extra Evolution. If you feel that you will not gain enough Evolution points, consider Half-Elf as a race. Use your favored class bonus to gain an extra evolution point every four levels. You could also then trade in the racial trait Adaptability for Ancestral Arms, gaining the weapon proficiency for free.

When planning your build for a synthesist, you want to know if you are using the rules in the book or the PRD. Book says that you gain the Eidolons physical attributes, whereas the PRD says that you gain the Eidolons bonus ability points. Meaning that you could not just dump physical.

The problem we come to is, if you really want to aim for Whirlwind Attack, is that it has a minimum of Five feats. Meaning, even if you started human, you wouldn't be able to take it until 7th level. Then you would still need to take lunge and power attack in order to gain decent use of it.

yeah i never ment to put pounce up there, i removed it. i was origionally going to do a centuar god, but decided on a 40k eldar avatar type character.

we play faq, so if the prd is the current faq errata then it law. otherwise it dosent matter.

yeah im not to happy about 4 feats for whirlwind attack, i could accomplish a similar task by using power attack, cleave, cleaving finish, great cleave, but that is also a big feat investment. im just trying to figure out what this guy will do in combat, everything else is ready to go.

only real reason why i was going with extra evolution was because at closer to 20th i could add in a new 4 point evolution, or knock my flying up to +40 feet.

i really like the half elf idea, i will drop human for it. ooo then i can take craft feats and apply my skill focus to spell craft.
