Does an Aegis of Recovery work against Disintegrate?

Rules Questions

For the Disintegrate spell:
"Any creature reduced to 0 or fewer hit points by this spell is entirely disintegrated, leaving behind only a trace of fine dust."

vs. Aegis of Recovery:
"Should the wearer ever drop below 0 hit points, the aegis cures 2d8+3 points of damage to the wearer and then crumbles, becoming useless from then on."

So if you take exactly your hit points and are reduced to 0 from the spell then it won't work?

If you are reduced to exactly 0 hit points, you are disintegrated and you don't meet the condition to activate the aegis.

I don't think 2d8+3 hp healing will help you if you're disintegrated, or prevent you being disintegrated if at any point you dropped below 0 hp due to the spell.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

You are a pile of ashes with 2d8+3 hit points.

So maybe there's a market for tweaked Aegises (Sp?) of Recovery that activate when you drop below 1 HP...
