I tried to use the submission tool a moment ago to check the word count of the current draft of my Encounter, and couldn't make it to the submission page.
I got a red notification saying "Important: This round of the contest is closed."
Now, I'm not actually ready to submit, but if I were, I'd be freaking out. Can this be addressed, before tomorrow, hopefully?

Good point. I also have a surprisingly perfect Carolinian accent.

Right, like Jodie Foster.

AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA-
Ahem.
There's only so many people that's gonna fool, Daniel. The REAL test will be your reaction to vinegar- and pepper-laden shredded pork piled high on a bun when dangled in front of you from a fishing pole.
If you spurn the barbecue, YOU WILL NEVER BE ONE OF US.
If you jump forward and try to grab the sandwich, you might be genuine.
If you punch out the guy with the fishing pole and wash the sandwich down with a NuGrape soda, you're practically a native.

I'd put it around the same level as Hugh Grant's New York accent

Cheerwine = a cherry flavored, carbonated soft drink...but different from Dr. Pepper or any other cherry drink out there
Sundrop = a citrus flavored, carbonated soft drink with a high caffeine factor akin to Mountain Dew, but more citrusy
NuGrape = a grape flavored, carbonated soft drink, but one with which I'm less familiar

Same here. I've had Cheerwine and Sundrop, but I've never heard of NuGrape.

Sundrop is okay, but cheerwine and nugrape are right out. Took a couple tries, but I do like the Carolina BBQ now. Just needs a dab of mayo...
Dab of mayo? On BBQ? Are you from Holland?
My family's not really from the south, we moved here in 1982, so we're still considered Yankee carpetbaggers. I have a close friend who swears by Sundrop, but all sodas are equally nasty to me. I love the BBQ, though.

Yes, yes, and no. And I also prefer mayo on my fries. I blame it on my time spent in Germany. Just try Carolina BBQ with a spot of mayo = quite delish...

I almost guessed Germany. I only put mayo on three things: Turkey Sandwich, BLT, or Turkey Sandwich with Bacon, lettuce and tomato. But hey, that's why they put condiments in those little packets.
For fries, I'm a traditionalist. Ketchup for American-style shoestring, and Malt Vinegar for chunky chip-style.

NuGrape originated in Atlanta, but lots of Pepsi-affiliated bottlers in North Carolina used to produce it. (My stepfather ran a bottling plant, so I know way too much about the soda industry.) Big Red in Texas bought the formula awhile back, so it's harder to find now, but in the '80s and early '90s, NuGrape was the ubiquitous grape soda in Eastern NC.

Fine grate white cabbage, till you have have two-three large handfuls.
Fine grate 1-2 carrots depending on how much you like carrot
Fine grate some red onion - about a third that of white cabbage
Fine grate 2 sharp tangy apples, direct into a bowl of cold water and lemon juice. (Granny Smith are good)
Drain the apple and add everything to a big bowl, dry mix to begin.
Add condiments:
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 tea spoon ground pepper
Squirt a generous amount of mayo and mix together.
Keep adding mayo until you have a thick stodgy coleslaw look.
Chill overnight in the fridge for the flavours to instill.
Game night, bring out the chips, dorito etc and put the big boiwl of dipping slaw in the middle of the table.
Guaranteed crunching quiet while you deliver the game set up and get things going (assuming you can resist yourself),
That's the best use for Mayo - PC pacification.

It's very yum, if you take out the apples, you have the basic coleslaw base for pretty much any coleslaw - I use red rather than white onions simply because I prefer their flavour, it's not quite so overpowering.
The lemon water immersion of the apples is to help prevent oxidation and browning of the apple.
For a really fruity treat, try adding some grated mango, watermelon and small tangerine pieces with the apple.
If you prefer savoury, add some smoked and mature grated cheese to the base or base with apple mix.
It's really rather versatile.
My absolute favourite though is a good cupful of shrimps, a cup of prawns instead of the grated apple, and instead of mayo, use the marie rose prawn cocktail sauce instead. It is the business! Yum.
