Heroes of Golarion - A Satire Campaign

Recruitment

After reading this thread, I thought it would be fun to start up a campaign like the one Michael VonHasseln was talking about. Simply put, make a character blatantly based off a well known movie, video game, TV, or comic book hero using stuff from the CRB, APG, UC, and UM, and play a campaign with no seriousness what so ever. Just screw around and have fun with it.

At the moment, I'm gauging interest, so I do not have any character creation details up. If enough people show interest, I will work those details out.

Going to bed for the night. Will check back in the morning and answer any and all questions and work out further details then.

Will really overdone cliche's be viable too?

Chaotic Good dual-scimitar-wielding Drow elf ranger for me please :)

Either that or an emo fairy boy with an attitude problem wielding a huge sword that is so not overcompensating for something.

Hmmm, off the top of my head ...

A half-orc or orc barbarian with max possible strength who is green, red or gray skinned and Beast Totem to attack bare handed (perhaps with a feat to change colors as you yell SMASH!)

Human monk/martial artist who takes the Fleet feat twice at first level and dresses all in red (say hello to the Flash)

Any archer build for Hawkeye, Robin Hood, Green Arrow, Red Arrow, etc.

A ninja with sword who covers his whole burnt body in clothing (hey there Deadpool).

Cavalier (Shining Night)

Batman (gestalt)

Tiefling gunslinger/magus (Dante)

Damphyr with prestidigitation to sparkle (Twilight)

Damphyr ranger who favored enemy undead (Blade)

Anyone wearing a mask

Summoner equals Pokemon

The thief who steals everything that isn't nailed down

Alchemist for Dr. and Mr. Hyde

Hmm...Tempted to make a Titan Mauler Barbarian and duel wield Flying Blades, maybe with the firey enchantment.

The Exchange

I wanna make Captain Andoran.

I knew someone would. Go ahead.

The one thing I have to ask is no Pathfinderizing heroes from Medieval tech level stories. The idea of this campaign is to have fun taking video game characters who shouldn't really belong here in a Medieval setting and recreating them with Medieval rules.

I'll allow this. Kratos is Greek, not Medieval, so the ban on Medieval inspired characters doesn't apply to him.

Which are your favorites?

I already have a Pathfinderized comic book supervillain ready for our first encounter ^_^.

Depends on the cliche. I'd really prefer popular characters, though.

Can I play a mute gunslinger with Quick Draw, a bag of holding and every firearm available in the manual? I would like to play the Marine from Doom.

Desriden wrote:

Fixed that for you. ;)

I'll have to think about making a character for this.

What's the starting level going to be on this?

Does 10 sound good?

The Gunslinger doesn't really seem to fit that well, but I guess you could try to make it work.

What do you mean, it doesn't fit? It uses guns.

I always saw the Gunslinger as a Wild West thing and Doomguy as a tank. I'm not saying don't do it, I was just making a comment. If you want to try it out, go ahead.

Liberty's Edge

Soulbound Doll [Bestiary 2] Gunslinger. (I even have the alias already set up. 8^)

Edit: Added Source.

Maybe I should make that Barbarian a Locathah. And be the Cod of War >>

@ Woody: That is okay.

@ Seagull: I am willing to allow that.

An oracle of life with the tongues curse who can only talk in technobabble during combat. "I'm getting some funny readings from that horrible ooze melting your spine." He cares more about emotions than logic.

"I'm a doctor, not a dungeon delver!"

Dr. McCoy, of course, but this could be any medical officer from Star Trek.

The Exchange

I'm going to have to back out. I've got too much on my plate as it is.

Desriden wrote:

LOL.

Is it bad form to tell the players what the enemy is before the game if I am bursting to say what I came up with? The comic book villain I chose Pathfinderizes incredibly easily. The perfect class and prestige class are right there in the core rules.

Liberty's Edge

After taking some time to think back to the movies, I might have to switch to Cavalier instead of Gunslinger. (Woody never even HAD a gun in the movies, much less fired one.)

Now, I just need to figure out a Small Construct Mount. 8^)

OK, I'm starting to warm up to this McCoy idea for a life oracle. I'll have to think about a name and avatar picture.

Here's a little bit of what I was thinking in terms of his "technobabble."

First level spells:
Bless (“Use the targeting sensors”), Comprehend Languages (“Hailing Frequencies Open”), Sanctuary (“This energy field seems to have a detrimental effect on these creatures”), Remove Fear (“This pheromone mixture should affect the adrenaline response of the away team”)

Second level spells:
Hold Person (“Don’t try breaking the repulsor field, you’ll just hurt yourself”), Resist Energy (“These hypospray should give let you walk around Vulcan just as easily as a swamp in Georgia”), Align Weapon (“I’ve scanned the enemy and found a unique energy signature. This would appear to be its equal and opposite”), Shatter (“If I modulate the tricorder, it should release a sound wave that equals the resonance frequency of the unusual material”)

Third level spells:
Dispel Magic (“See! It’s just a bunch of superstitious nonsense”), Prayer (“This change to the quantum spectrum should hinder them as much as it helps us”),

Fourth level spells:
Freedom of Movement (“Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow”), Divine Power (“Don’t be impressed. It’s always easier to kill than to heal”)

Fifth level spells:
Raise Dead (“The medical tricorder said he was dead. Just goes to show the advantages of being a good, old-fashioned country doctor”)

I could also see playing a Deadpool fellow who keeps breaking the fourth wall by commenting on his dice rolls.

I support a Deadpool character 110%

Liberty's Edge

@Andorra: What do you think...

Gunslinger/Cavalier w/ "reskinned" Dog AC as mount (and Boon Companion feat)

or

Gunslinger w/ Leadership and Giant Creature quadrupedal and mute Soulbound Doll as Cohort?

I prefer the first one, Woody, I also support a metagaming Deadpool character, I like the McCoy's spells, and I found the Doom Marine's post amusing.

Liberty's Edge

Okay, Captain Indecisive here. Now I'm starting to wonder if I should put another level of abstraction in, and just be Human Gunslinger/Cavalier. (I.E. base my character on what the character of Woody in the movie is supposed to be a character of.) It would fit the avatar image better, and be simpler and perhaps easier to play.

Of course, then, I almost may as well just get a Shoanti brave Cohort named Tonto... 8^)

Any preferences?

Dark Archive

Count me in! Not sure yet what I want to play though, give me time to look over my movie shelf...

Maybe a tiefling gunslinger/monk (Hellboy)?

have you checked the profile

@ Woody: Whatever you feel is best

@ Ozy: Hellboy would be cool.

Yes. It works fine.

Pathfinder Pathfinder Accessories, PF Special Edition Subscriber; Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Hmmm...a Bandit Rogue wielding a gun as Han Solo would be interesting.

Joshua Hirtz wrote:

It would.

Liberty's Edge

Hmmm. Too many gunslingers cropping up here now. I might have to just...

...change character concepts. (Eldritch Knight, Brilliant Energy Longsword; see profile for more details. 8^)

Oh, yes. Jedi be AWESOME.

Yeah, I figured somebody had to go there. It's a classic "build somebody from a movie" trope. 8^)

@Joshua: Sorry if this steps on you schtick. I have actually had this planned for a few days, just needed to work up the stats.

Great concept!

Im thinking a Ninja/Sorcerer with the Frost Bloodline - ala Sub-Zero.

Jedi Luke and Doom Marine are accepted. Does McCoy have a profile up?

[...]

Translation:
Sweet! We do we start?

Just made a slight tweak to my weapon to make it work with the build (and concept) a bit better. (Pending approval, of course.)

Spoiler:
Rapier seems more appropriate as a base for a lightsaber, as it is a finessable weapon...

Rapier is fine.

We start once we have two more people.

What are the build guidelines?

10th level, money as CRB for 10th level, all races classes, options, equipment, and magic items from CRB, APG, UC, and UM allowed. Ability scores 30 point buy.

Wow. I did 20. I'm gonna have to revisit this... 8^)

I did 25
