Lol so in the NG+ I was having a pretty easy time of it until I faced Ornstein and Smough again and now I am feeling pretty challenged, they hit so hard they can kill me in basically two or three hits even before they combine. I am doing my typical dodging around enhanced with the dark wood grain ring that has served me so well in this game but I keep slipping up and getting smushed, lol.
Ahhh yes, welcome to NG+. You know what's scary? There are people who have done SL 1 fist weapon runs through NG+. Hurts, right?
Normally I kill Slim first. After that you can get Fatty stuck on a destroyed column - if you do it right you can loop him into a cycle of run at the column, poke him a few times, then dive away.

Nice! Any idea where the new area starts?
I don't. I'm running on Friday and if I get the DLC it will consume my free time and I won't be prepared when Friday rolls around. I'm planning on getting it this weekend if I can decide what to play once I get it. I wanna to a Faith based character but haven't decided on exactly how I want to build the character.

Man, the Capra demon is really kicking my butt. I've fought it 4 or 5 times and have barley even hurt it so far. Anyone have any tips?
Finally beat the Capra demon last night. Almost a year after posting this. Ha ha, man it felt good.

Thanks!! Oh believe me, I'm familiar with Blighttown. When I wasn't having any luck with the Capra Demon, I used the master key to get into Blighttown through the back door, via the Valley of Drakes. I figured I could fight my way through and get into the Depths through its entrance to Blighttown. Turns out, the door doesn't open that way and I used all of my purple moss clumps to get to it. It took me until yesterday to fight my way back through to Firelink.
Funny thing about that whole thing though, once I got back from the hell that was that poison infested muck hole, I beat the Capra demon in one go, blew through the Depths and beat the Gaping dragon in two tries.
Trial by fire I guess.
Speaking of fire, this crazy fire breathing spider lady has set me firmly back to reality after my easy victories in the depths.

Favorite bosses so far?
I liked the Great Wolf Sif optional fight; the location was really atmospheric with all the swords stuck in the ground like grave markers.
The Gaping Dragon also felt really epic, even if he wasn't very hard.
The Moonlight Butterfly was a really eerie fight. It's quiet music and strange attacks mad e the whole thing creepy.
It also didn't take me months to beat, so there's that.

Playing like a madman. I recently switched to the PC version and I'm nearly through the Tomb of Giants with an elite-knight-crest-shield-trailer-art run (presumably the Astora's Straight Sword will have to be replaced soon.)
I'm also playing "Kyra", a curved-sword-toting SL 5 pyromancer/miracle user, though I'm thinking I'll need a LOT more vitality (and the wolf ring) to survive the capra fight.
I've also got a Solaire and dark-wood-grain rapier build in the wings, but I keep getting destroyed in PvP with my insistance on using a parrying dagger.

Good game, have it for a while, but it reminds me why I play it sparingly. I think I have a SL 20ish pyro, but having a real hard time with the two garguals (I suck at spelling, plus using android phone). Any help? Trying to get balance starting stats then go Dex build.
Havoc has good advice- but I would add that upgrading your equipment can make a big difference. If you can get your weapon and chest armor to +3 or more and the other armor pieces to +1 or +2 at least, you'll notice a dramatic difference in performance, regardless of your build. Also- don't neglect getting a decent shield. Andre sells the tower shield, which has a pretty decent stability to start out but the undead soldier shield is also pretty good- but I think the tower has better fire defense, which is really helpful once that second gargoyle comes in.

Well if your within 10 lvls of 45 unlikely at that point but if you are I'll drop a summon sign it'd be studioxiiicomic.
Oh also a quick and completely painless way to farm souls is the dragon bridge. Pop up just long enough to get the dragons attention run back down stairs. He toasts all the undead. Go down the ladder to the bonfire. Rinse and repeat. Roughly 500 souls per run.

The Crystal Caves can die in a fire. That's all I have to say about that.
I look forward to the day that I can loathe the place. I'm still getting shot off of the exterior of Anor Londo by those stupid crossbowman.

I beat it finally, then tore through Artorias of the Abyss. This weekend I'm hoping to beat the game- or get really close. Then I just have to beat Demon's Souls and I'll have a clear slate for Dark Souls 2 in March.
Anor Londo advice:

I used your advice and beat that part! Thanks!

Out of curiosity, which build did you end up finishing the game with?
I actually just started over with another knight after getting stuck on Ornstein and Smough in Anor Londo. Also decided not to go for the drake sword in the early going on this playthrough- the early sections are a lot more challenging without it.

I was a Knight, cranked up my strength to 34, dex to 18, vitality to somewhere in the 20s, endurance 40, faith 12 (just for Heal). Stuck with the elite knight armor the whole way, upgraded the chest piece to +9, the rest around +7. +15 longsword was my go-to weapon with a +5 black knight shield. For rings, I went with favor and protection after dealing with Lautrec in Anor Londo and the cloranthy ring from the Great Hollow to keep my stamina regenerating quickly. I also made the Greatshield of Artorias, but it's resistances aren't as good as the Black Knight shield, so the latter won out.

Cool. Sounds pretty similar to my character, though I focused on Dex instead of Str. I'm using the Sliver Knight straight sword at +5 and the Silver knight's shield +3, also using the elite knight set.
The ring of favor and protection has been great. I was so happy when I killed that murderous jerk. We actually double ko'ed each other! It was a super intense moment waiting to see if the game would give me credit for the kill, but it did.

Also, was this the character that you abandoned in Anor Londo or your new play through? If it was your new one, what sort of changes did you make that allowed you to get over the O&S hump?

I think I started him new after putting the game down for a while. Mostly what I did was focus- getting my strength up to about 30, a nice high endurance so I can wear heavy armor without Havel's Ring, enough vitality to take some swings and then just ignore faith/intelligence so I'm not being too general. The other thing that helped was the lightning stoneplate ring the merchant in Sen's Fortress sells.
For me, I summoned Solaire to take some of the initial heat off and then eliminated Smough first. Once Smough goes down, it's a matter of learning Super Ornstein's move set and knowing how to anticipate what's coming. With the exception of his butt slam attack, you can stay right up against him (like, literally in his crotch) and chip away safely. His spear will go right over you, especially that cattle-prod impale move.

I wonder why I haven't posted here, considering I do have the game. My characters are...
1st = Pure Strength character. Just need to clear Ash Lake and get some Fire Keeper souls before saying hello to Gwyn.
2nd = Strength / Faith hybrid. Killed Manus last night with a friends, still need to gather the Lord Souls and kill Kalameet with him.
3rd = Dexterity / Faith hybrid. Have been stuck in the Depths for quite a while. I should learn how to wield the Uchigatana properly so I can move forward.
4th = Pure Intelligence character. Beaten everything except Ash Lake. And I realized I forgot to make her a Gravelord servant for the Miracles, which is frustrating...

Favorite bosses so far?
A flip side to this. I fought the Stray Demon last night and while the fight itself was fun, during the five or six times that I fought it, I never really saw the thing's head. During the battle, the camera stays so low that my field of vision was pretty much constantly locked onto it's butt and crotch. I only ever saw from it's chest down.

Nice thead you have going on here guys! :D
I was told about dark souls by a friend some months ago and it's been my favourite game since. Even with more than 500 hours of gameplay on my back the game keeps me hooked.
I begun, like many of us, clueless. I had no experience with demon souls either. This game is harsh man! I choose a wanderer with the master key on my first playthrough. I was dying to skeletons on the graveyard and to ghosts in New Londo before I learnt the basics of leveling. I ground my way through the burg, got crushed by taurus, then patted on the back by solaire to be swiftly burnt to a crisp by the hellkite dragon...
It feels like it was a long time ago. Today, after several playthroughs with diferent builds I can say I enjoy this game even more. Even if player vs environment can be overcome (relatively) easily player vs player or cooperative are still an infinite source of enjoyment.
Having spent the last months darkwraithing as a SL1 I think I'm over it for now. My plan is to build characters at diferent soul levels to coop at any range. Currently from sl1 to sl36 and from 60 to 130.
Hit me on the XBOX360 BROs gamertag is UriOld. Praise the sun!!! \o/
