Giant leech grapple question

I am really dense on this one: if a Giant Leech successfully attacks a PC, the Leech automatically Grapples the PC. Does the leech still occupy the adjacent space, or does it move into the same space as the PC?

Unlike in 3.5, you don't move into your target's space when you successfully grapple them.
