Just heard, see here.
Its sad. I may hate Apple, but I do think Steve Jobs was a mad genius.

Maybe it's because I live a few miles from Cupertino (not to mention a few miles from his house in Woodside), but I've been mourning his passing for several hours now.
Apple donated a bunch of Apple IIs to my junior high way back in the day, and that was the first programming I ever learned.
I've been pretty much a lifelong fan since then. I'll miss him. I work very closely with our Apple rep at my job, and MacWorld is a big yearly event for us. I've been really lucky to live where I have all these years and always be right where the news of some new innovation got leaked out first.
Mr. Jobs was a major presence around here. Again, I'll miss him.

Mac fan or not, we all owe the forward thinking of this man...it was his creative drive and forward thinking that changed forever the concept of how we, the masses, receive our news, our entertainment, and our interactions...at the beginning stages of the internet we know today, it was Steve Jobs' company paving the way. When the music industry was dying under it's own bloated system, Jobs' company again revolutionized the standard. Bringing the IPhone, the IPod, even the IPad has set the bar, broken the mold, and challenged the standard to grow and expand. Yes, there are thousands of employees working for his companies developing these items, but they did it all following his lead, and his dream. Steve Jobs was a man who understood where technology was going, and wasn't afraid to try and get there first. The world lost a Dreamer today, and I doubt it even realizes the scope of that loss.
