Did anyone else read the spells that level 9 wizards can cast?

They can cast Time Stop! This means they'll get at least two rounds to do whatever they want. They could summon in two Balors, or even 2d4+4 wooden golems! Or they could cast Wish to change reality to better suit them! And what happens if they get all 4 rounds?!

How is this not overpowered? Is the party just supposed to run away or stand there while being balor'd to death? Or being killed by some nasty splinters? They can't even do that! They can't act for those rounds!

Anyone who disagrees with me is clearly an inane, not to mention insane, rambler who hasn't read the rules and I will ignore them.

Cheapy, it's... really not even worth it man. Just walk away from the crazy. The dude was either trolling or something indistinguishable from trolling. Either way, I just chose to stop reading the thread.

You can't gate in two balor's if you cast time stop. And wish will be pretty limited seeing as other creature are immune to your spells during the time stop. Basically it's a few rounds to buff so you don't get turned into a paint stain.

Sovereign Court

Your not thinking big enough.

Here is a good example of a decent time stop.

Do you remember when this kind of post was widely considered kewl?

I thought about doing a thread like this. I decided against it.

I think I made the right choice.

About two months ago, I'd wager.

And your stupid silly strawmen is trying to distract us from discussing how overpowered this is! At least it's not as bad as Weapon Mastery, Master Hunter, Hidden Master, and True Judgement are!

While I am lol'ing this is trolling dude. My lol'ing does not make it less trolling even though I know which thread you are referring to. Thanks for the laugh though.

So what would a good fix for this be? Maybe only allowing the caster to cast spells up to 1/3rd the lvl of the highest lvl spell he or she could currently cast during this time?

Or maybe the caster can only cast a number of spells equal to his natural (unmodified) CON modifier?

Or maybe the caster rolls d4+1 and that's how many spells they get to cast of a lvl no greater than half the highest lvl they can cast modified by their STR modifier!

there, fixed ;-)

Touche! good sir Touche

now you have to respond to everybodys post like a super jerk and refuse to listen to any explanation at all.

and the plan will be complete

Op you are a fool! timestop is obviously the best spell ever and if I listened to you my mind might be changed and I could see the sweet light of reason! WELL GOOD SIR I REFUSE!

how was that?

But an arcane archer can cast a mindfog spell on a blunt arrow.

You never actually wrote the word "smurf" and it still smurfed your avatar. Smurf ... Just smurf!

'Tis our curse.

Somebody had to do it. *pats Cheapy on the back*

On the other hand, you could just be one of those rambling crybabies who think that spellcasters need to be nerfed and martial characters need a power boost. ;)

2 rounds to do whatever I want for a lvl 9 spell ?

my lvl 1 commoner gets 1 round to do what he wants, and that every round, without spells. How is this not overpowred?

It's all fine and fun until somebody does a parody.

While I can see the reason for such a post I still think it is trolling which is stupid.

And to support trolling by posting in a troll thread is stupid too

No

While I don't agree with the trolling I do think people are tired of this-----> "Hey everyone don't you think _______ is silly/broken/OP'd/etc?"

95% of the responders:"No, it is ok because_______. "

OP:"You guys are (insert random insult) if you dont see how silly/broken/etc this is." More bad attitude follows.

Random poster:"Calm down. No need to insult people."

OP:more bad attitude, and insults

I think people's patience is growing thin with this, not that it makes the trolling ok, but I do understand.

Never really understood why people are surprised that characters can be powerful at high levels... I mean, you are 17 - 20 when you have 9th level spells, you should be powerful...

What is a good definition of trolling?

I think of this thread as more satire or *facepalm* to quote TOZ

that guy was being a super glen beck in the other thread. he was almost crossing the line, here at paizo i have never never had such a pleasurable internet forum experience. every body is civil to the point of me wondering if i am in a alternate internet dimension.

but all it takes is one break in the time politeness continuum and we all fall into normal internet flaming.

You seem to have a smurf infestation.

*sigh*

I'll get the spray.

Edit: D@mm!t. Just saw the smurf avatar. lol

OK, feeling stupid but I am going to ask anyway.

So I get that the purpose of this thread is to make fun of another thread (or threads) where someone asks a silly question and then proceeds to insult those who do not agree.

But I want to clarify - Smurf is a term commonly used to describe these people? Like troll?

Sovereign Court

Chasmurfrogs?

I really don't understand how it works...

Not at all! Smurfs are loveable and kind. They add goodness to any thread.

That, and there are plenty of smartypantsy smartypants smartypantsing around.

Ah! A smurfed thread. I'll play.

OMG! My glass with lemonade in it is totally broken!

(I dropped it)

Dren Everblack wrote:

No, the smrf thing is because what happens your post contains the word smurf.

this smurf is smurfing smurfed up.

look over there, Smurfette's dress just gor smurfed off in the wind after jokey smurfed it with scissors.

SO whenever I type Smurf I get a Smurf avatar?

Edit: yup.

Possibly humans can exist without actually having to fight. But, many of us have chosen to fight. For what reason? To protect something? Protect what? Ourselves? The future? If we kill people to protect ourselves and this future then what sort of future is it and what will we have become? There is no future for those who have died. And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?.
..........
that pretty much sums up this whole thread....
also SMURFS :)
