anyone know if alchemist extrats are fully transparent with spells for stuff like metamagic feats(plus rods), pearls of power, rings of wizardry. do they count as arcane casting for the purpose of qualification of the arcane strike feat?
any other interesting interactions anyone can point out?
thanks

Far as I can tell, no to all of the above. They aren't spells, and the magic isn't divine or arcane.

thanks for the imput.
obviously i have my own cautions. i want to play fair. but the line on page 27 has me wondering.
''in many ways they behave like spells in potion form,''
potions can be brewed with metamagic right? because extracts can even go to 6th level, i think even somthing like an empowered cure critical wounds extract would be legal as a 6th level extract.
could an extract be ''drunk'' on the defensive? i know no such option for potions but ''behaves like spells'' has me wondering.
again, not looking to break the rules or subvert them. i am trying to get informed so i can play by the rules. i hate it when people just presume things work the way they want them to and ''cheat forward'' instead of evaluating the issue and confiming the rules. going with a quick call for sake of moving the game along is ok the first game but look it up on the way home for next week.

I think he may have meant Arcane Trickster.

On the plus side, bombs and extracts ignore SR.
I agree with you on the bombs. Not on the extracts.
Yes the ability to create extracts is supernatural, but the effects the extracts create, not necessarily. I was recently in a debate in a different thread where there was considerable difference of opinion on how potion-like vs spell-like extracts are. But regardless of which way one goes on that, once you get past the casting/drinking part of spells and potions they are treated the same for most purposes. See this part form the Alchemist's alchemy description.Although the alchemist doesn't actually cast spells, he does have a formulae list that determines what extracts he can create. An alchemist can utilize spell-trigger items if the spell appears on his formuale list, but not spell-completion items (unless he uses Use Magic Device to do so). An extract is “cast” by drinking it, as if imbibing a potion—the effects of an extract exactly duplicate the spell upon which its formula is based, save that the spell always affects only the drinking alchemist. An alchemist can draw and drink an extract as a standard action. The alchemist uses his level as the caster level to determine any effect based on caster level.

Back to the original question.
I was positive that metamagic feats can't be used with extracts, but I'm not finding a FAQ about it, so I'm not sure at the moment, if that was based on a developer comment or just extrapolation off of the other FAQs (such as item crafting) specifically disallowing extracts because they are not spells.
As far as Pearls of Power, there is a functionally identical item that is designed to work with extracts.

I am really happy for this link. Is there any other items in the same vein?

Not the same thing, but in the Ultimate equipment book doing a search with the keyword "alchemist" through the Wondrous item list I have found:
- Vest of stable mutation- Poisoner’s Gloves
- Admixture Vial
- Formula Alembic
- Hybridization Funnel
- Preserving Flask
- Volatile Vaporizer
Linking each one would be long, but you can check the PRD to see what they do.

Thank you. The Formula Alembic and Preserving Flask are going on top of my alchemist's wish list. Luckily my GM often allows us to choice our treasure within a price limit. Now the question is Boro Bread or the flask.
