Kirth, I'm sorry for the horrible title. Not sorry enough to change it however. ;)

I know some 4E, but I'm working on a little project already and like I said before I will if you allow me to use some stuff here for my homebrew that I'm doing, it's almost the version 1 finished. Then I will have to polish it and so, still looking for help with it, but when I'm done I could help you a bit with 4E.

Thanks, I'm rather proud of it myself. ^_^

Nah, I was just kidding around. I don't think 4E needs a huge rewrite. I honestly don't even know enough about the rules to say anything on them.

Designer's Update: Rogue "assault" talents have been rolled into the general Strike feat system. Strikes offer a unified mechanic, allowing you to attach status effects to an attack; these can generally be activated (1) if you make a single attack as a standard action or at the end of a charge; (2) if you have the Critical Focus feat and confirm a crit; (3) if you have the Deft Opportunist feat and make a single attack of opportunity; and now (4) if you have the Opportune Strike class feature and make a successful sneak attack. (This is not yet reflected in the linked documents.)
A previous area of unifying mechanics was in standardizing the old Reserve feats mechanic for use with the sorcerer and cleric "energy ray" powers as well.
A Request: I'm keenly on the lookout for suggestions for other areas in which mechanics can be consolidated and/or simplified. The more I can say "see mechanic X," vs. having to describe a whole new one, the more usable I think the Version 3.0 system will be. Are there feats that seem to do more or less the same thing as other feats or talents? Obvious parallel mechanics that for whatever reason do not reference each other? Let me know!

I've also always wondered when I look at these rules...what character sheet do you guys use? Or do you just write it all down 1e style?
I wonder because I absolutely adore the skills (and more, but the skills are the only part that causes a problem) and want to toss into my home game, but they don't work on my current sheets.
...Catch Phrase,
-Chris

I'm uploading a Word document character sheet my wife made, and a PDF character sheet someone made (I'm sorry, I forget who!) and sent to me with a Kirthfinder logo. I don't think any changes have made it outdated yet.
This has come along nicely. TOZ that title made me laugh man, I needed that.
Mission accomplished. :)

I've actually made up a couple of character sheets I use, one loosely patterned on the old Victory Games 007 sheet, and the other very, very loosely modeled on the 1e goldenrod sheets. Players newer to gaming tend not to like them because they're not set up like the 3e sheets everyone else is used to.
The latest one has boxes for MW/HW thresholds and check boxes, and also in the spells section has the concentration bonus by level, so you don't have to calculate CL + attribute mod - 2 x (spell level) on the fly in the middle of the game.
I'll send copies to TOZ and he can post them if he gets bored or otherwise gets really desperate to find something to do on a computer that makes him look busy ;P
EDIT: Email sent, but the subject heading is from like 2 years ago and I forgot to change it. You'll see!

Now I just need to do my own complete overhaul of 3.5 and post it up. And find someone who likes 4E to rewrite THAT system.
I wonder how many game systems we can get rewritten and posted...
I'm working on one of my own! I shall call it...
'Holmefinder' or something. I dont know yet. But I'm drawing from a bunch of sources and tying them together, and the end result should play rather differently from pathfinder, while still being compatible enough for me to use PF stuff as the gm with little alteration, but some special considerations.
Things of Note:
Base System before I started altering it: Conan 2e.
I have a bunch of houserules I'll be using, and I'll be importing things and drawing inspiration from PFRPG, Kirthfinder: World of Warriorcraft, Trailblazer, Iron Heroes, Book of Iron Might, Arcana Evolved, and a few ideas are based on things I've seen in Ghosts of Albion and Rolemaster.
By the time I'm done it should look considerably different than Conan, and considerably different than PFRPG.
My main goal is something I can use for my own home games (therefore I want to be able to easily appropriate things from PF Books, and use PF Bestiaries and maybe even modules, with little extra prep work), but I was considering making a full blown RPG PDF and trying putting it on RPGNow for a few dollars if it works out really well after a playtest. I have a couple original Ideas I'm not ready to share yet, in case I do try going that route. And it will likely take me a while to complete anyways. lol.
Two notable gameplay changes from typical Pathfinder will be:
1. A 9th level character with a chain shirt and a bastard sword will be considered reasonable.
2. I hope to have combat be more dynamic, and less stand and full attack. Combat maneuvers should happen regularly, and be a worthwhile option to every character, even if not specialized in it.

And - how do you use "comeliness"? Only the modifier or is it a attribute with a score like the primary 6?
Comeliness gets a score, and a modifier, but in game terms it does close to nothing. It's included (a) for the sake of nostalgia, (b) for people who like to roll dice, and (c) to underline that Charisma is intended in the house rules to represent ego, force of personality, and the like -- not "prettiness." You could have some people at the table just declare their characters' appearances, and have others roll for Cms, and end up with no conflict (and we've done so).

Ah, maybe I don't see it - but is it possible to print these docs or get printable versions?
Certainly not from me -- I write these for personal home use only. I have no interest in marketing or distributing stuff that could present even a hint of the appearance of any kind of copyright impropriety. I'm OK with TOZ posting them for our group's internal reference, and I don't mind if people steal my some or all of my ideas and use them, but I am in no way attempting to create a system that is in any way a challenge to any existing copyrights. Indeed, if you're using stuff from the houserules that's derived from an existing source (a lot of it is, as noted), please make sure your group has a copy of the source in question.

And be sure, I own most of the existing sources. I just asked for the possibility to print them because I am too lazy to write so much down per hand - and because to much reading of documents on the computer makes my head ache ^^
If you've got the sources, I don't see a problem with printing the house rules. As long as you're not handing them out on the streetcorner or trying to make money off of them, keeping a copy for home reference seems like a reasonable use.

I have all the Paizo ressources you used - the other ones I don't have.
But I am first and foremost interested in your modification of the classes and not so much in including non-paizo material in your game.
I really have spent some time thinking about how to modify and upgrade some classes like the rogue, fighter,.. and how to make every single level more interesting and offering more choices to players, letting them create more unique characters even when using the same classes.
And to be honest - you already did almost all the work and I really would appreciate if i was able to take advantage of that :P I would offer you money for it, but I guess that is not that a good idea - so please, take my thanks and appreciation for your work.
And tell me how I am able to get a copy of your works / print them - I don't have that much experience with google docs.

If you have fun using the rules, that's the kind of thanks I like! Money is a no-no. The very best thanks you can give me is in the form of playest feedback -- what works, what doesn't, and what's broken. That kind of feedback is gold to me.
As for printing them, what TOZ said. The way they're hosted, it looks like you have a "view only" mode and a "download" mode. If you download them, you'll be able to alter the parts you don't like, add or delete stuff as you see fit, and of course print.

Oh my god - I was so used to clicking "view" that I totaly did not see the "download" link..
I don't know how soon I will get to using the rules - but be sure that I will let you kow
