Ultimate Combat monk party!

Advice

Shadow Lodge

There is no denying that Monks got a lot of love in UC. Quite a bit, in fact, there is almost so much as to be overwhelming. So I'm starting up this thread to pick the community's brain on all the new monk options. If you have an interest in monks, or even if you dont, come in and give your opinion on whats new, I;d love to hear your thoughts!

Also, I'm looking for fellow monk lovers, or even people who like building character concepts, to start throwing together some new monk concepts! What is the monk that might play with all the new goodies they get? Im still trying to throw together something that sounds fun, and I'm curious as to what others have come up with.

One aspect I'd really like to make use of is the Dimensional Agility feat chain. I had been thinking some sort of maneuver master monk, using that to teleport around and take down mages with grapples and trips.

Also, I was looking at a flowing monk, and I had originally wanted to mix it with master of many styles, but then I noticed that they both replace the bonus feats in different ways, so that wont work.

Speaking of the flowing monk, it seems a bit odd to me that they lose the fast movement aspect of the monk, seems that fits really well with the whole theme of the archetype.

I am a tetorio(forgot the spelling) grappler all the way the gain grab! flurry of blows and grab sweet!
also some of those styles look dangerous

Wis monk that practically builds itself:

Archetypes

Master of Many Styles
Sensei
Qinggong Monk

Now Wis modifies virtually everything your character does.
Next step, take Crane and Turtle style feats (then later, mantis, so's to stack up Stunning Fist DCs, and then your favorite genie style, should you so choose). Take Qinggong powers to complement the other abilities.

Between the spell-like abilities and Inspire Courage, you end up playing what amounts to a bard, but it's a bard who is less skilled, and more hardy/combat oriented. And uses fists or something.

Unfortunately, both MoMS and Sensei replace flurry, so you cant stack these. Which is unfortunate, as its a nice combo.

I just want to try out a strength-stacking, Dragon-style Martial Artist with Greater Weapon Spec.

I WILL PUNCH YOUR FACE OFF!

Now i just need a bard and Medusa's Wrath!

Oh god Medusa's Wrath+Shatter Defenses........

Yeah, there's definably a lot of love for that class in the book.

One potentially new DPR king for Monks are nodachi wielding Soheis. They don't have the cool toys of Four Winds, Weapon Adept, or Hungry Ghost, but they get weapon training, opening up the possibility of more damage on a consistent basis.

Time will tell on whether the Martial Artist is able to make unarmed monks viable, and whether Master of Many Styles is worth it.

I will also profess my love for Uannarmed Fighter.

I agree that the Tetori looks to be every caster's worst nightmare - but they do not get flurry. Flurry is swapped out for the Graceful Grappler chain of abilities.

What really makes the Tetori stand out for me is Inescapable Grasp at 9th.

What's the point?

Everybody can kill everybody with a single attack at 11th level now.

What a defeatist attitude!

I support rocket-tag!

And exclamation points!

NV, Pathfinder is contracting 3.5's "splatbook-itis", in which the power curve is compressing farther and farther down into the lower levels.
