Exactly....with none of those tedious and expensive spell components.

Those would be psions actually ;-) (and the good ones don't even need to point)

We have no psions in our group. Besides, I was making the comparison
between using and not using components only. My sorceress DOES point
and things go boom. Don't stand in front of her.

None of the tedious ones, perhaps, but the expensive ones, and all foci are still required.

True, but most of these usually look/smell good or at least not strange.

The Sorcerer just looks and smells good, clean and natural.

The Wizard always smells of strange and sometimes offensive scents and his components' pouch looks like something someone forgot too long under the sun (and that can soil his clothes too).

Mind you, both give excellent roleplaying opportunities.

Very true. My sorceress always dresses in white, too, which creates

other problems. The alchemist in the group always smells weird and
creates quite a mess with her bombs, so sorceress tries to stand clear
of her. ;)

Actually the Sorcerer being even more magical might be more likely to spook animals and people. Also consider that many of them are physically "deformed" compared to normal people, especially the draconic, aberrant, and possibly the celestial and infernal ones as well.

In Ars Magica, Magi spend a lot of time walking unless they have the extra feature known as the Gentle Gift. Otherwise animals react rather badly to them.

People who get things done by getting other people to do them (ex. cult leaders, psychological warfare ops, grifters, terrorists, politicians, etc.) are high charisma types. Are these otherwrldly beings going to be more interested in james Dobson, Patricia Pulling, Jim Jones, etc. or in Stephen Hawking, John von Neumann, etc.? Is that being going to be more interested in Al Gore (high Int) or Bill Clinton (high charisma)? Ronald Reagan (high charisma) or George Bush Sr. (high int)? George Bush the lesser (high charisma) or Dick Chenney (high int)? Is that otherworldly being going to be more interested in leaders of men (high charisma) or political advisors (high int)? The otherworldly being is going to be more interested in the leaders of men.

Your post is even more epic than the post of the barbarian. "George W Bush made a pact with Chtuluh. Your argument is invalid".

...

Wait, you were serious?

I agree with the ritual and know how side of witches. I mean you can have as much power as you want, but if you don't know how to use it then it's useless. A witch has all the power she could ever need she just needs the mental capacity and knowledge to do so in a meaningful fashion, so as to get her desired results.

The point that I was making is that people with charisma are people who lead people. As such, they are people with power. Bush the lesser isn't as smart as John von Neumann was, but he has had a great deal more power than von Neumann did.

And an outsider who isn't interested in that kind of power is an outsider who isn't interested enough in earth to give many people the ability to repeatedly do 9th level magic. (yes, there might be isolated exceptions, but that's exactly what they are - exceptions)

David Hilbert made a pact with Yog-Sothoth. Your argument is invalid.

And this assertion is based on what?

Still awaiting your explanation from earlier, BTW. Here is the post for easy reference.

Now you're changing your argument. Before, witches needed high charisma in order to make the most beneficial trade with whatever entity fuels their power, now they need it because they're supposed to be leaders. What's it supposed to be?

Not all leaders are charismatic. Nixon wasn't but he was a very popular and effective President, until he succumbed to his own self-destructive nature. And not all charismatic people have the urge to lead.

Where is it stated that you need 1 rank in Linguistics to speak in full sentences?
