New Thundercats series

Love this series. On the one hand, Lion-O got served for treating Cheetara as just one more prize to hang over Tigra's head, but on the other hand, Tigra has spent his entire life sniping at his brother and going out of his way to humiliate and belittle the Prince.

I do wonder about how Cheetara and Lion-O will interact in the future. Did she do the whole flirting/teasing bit just to make Lion-O warm up to her and thus listen to her advice, or is she just like that naturally?

Honestly, I'm seeing a whole heel-face-turn from Tigra in the future. He's been mentioned to have a 'darkness' within him, and the prospect of becoming King and 'saving' the remains of the Cat Tribe, even if it means serving Mum-Ra and becoming a Slave-General, seems to be something he would do. Best Intentions with the Worst Outcome in that scenario.

Panthro is due for an upgrade, I think, with his missing arms. Incidentally that was well and truly BADASS.

Lion-O will probably end up getting into a strong friendship with another female character of some sort, and something I noticed:

In the Episode where Lion-O was sent back through the Book of Omens to relive the Uprising/Betrayal against Mum-Ra, the Panther-woman was obviously more than just a friend to his ancestor. But the Cat Tribe has an iron-clad Law that only Lions may rule, which is one of the main reasons why Tigra was continously blocked from becoming the Heir, despite his many 'victories' over Lion-O.

Did she die in the crash? I am thinking she might actually turn up sooner or later, having been placed in status inside a capsule of some kind to recover from her injuries and being left behind due to MaGuffin-related shenanigans. The Group wakes her up, she sees Lion-O, shenanigans. Or at least, that's my Head-Cannon.

Watching the episodes in sequence, it seems that Lion-O is being pushed more and more to becoming the 'wandering swordsman' to perfect his mastery of the Blade of Omens (I know that's not what it's called, but my brain is turning to mush with this broken tooth throbbing in my jaw!) while Tigra aggressively takes over the group and rallies the surviving Cat-Tribe to wage war against the lizard-man armies of Mum-Ra.

And eventually Lion-O returns with an even bigger army of the other Tribes, and must somehow make Tigra stand down and/or work with him to defeat Mum-Ra's army.

Last I heard new episodes will start sometime in march.

Another possibility is that Pumyra will show up as a love interest for Lion-O in this new incarnation. We have already seen Lynxo and I am hoping that we see Bengali soon as Tigra's long lost brother. Anything is possible.

Re: Disarming Panthro.

I'm going to start calling him Jax if he gets robo arms.

I think it would be more cool if he was infused with the stuff of the astral plane and can just regenerate them by thinking about them, or turn them into any weapons he could imagine.

Panthro does get "robo arms", so call him Jax to your hearts content.

I hope I like the design Pumyra, I liked her old design better then the old version of Cheetara. Now the new version of Cheetara that is a different story.

Also Pumyra gets a story arch that focuses on her near the end of the first season I believe.

One thing I am really confused on, and maybe I just missed the episode that explained it, but why is Panthro so knowledgable about technology? I was under the impression that the 'Cats had turned their back on it and that Lion-O was considered at least a little wierd because of his interest in it.

Can you point us to a source for this information?

a good question. Why would these thundercats even have the thundertank? I hope these questions are answered soon.

Speculation

Spoiler:
We know the Cats had a 'black market' for tech from the pilot. I'd guess that the elite had at least some understanding of tech, maybe for their 'special forces'. I don't think the Thunder Tank was the Thundercats. I think it's from where the other races got their Mechs and the like, relics from Mumra's army. Panthro *was* in the Pyramid, right? So maybe he learned to drive by trial and error, found some books, etc. Don't forget, he couldn't fix the tank, the Berbles had to.

New episodes got shown early in northen Ireland.

Liberty's Edge

For folks in the U.S., new episodes return this coming Saturday, March 24th, at 9:30 am eastern time.

I can't wait for the new episodes to start, I hope they actually show 13 episodes in a row without taking a break.

So the Cats are back

Spoiler:
Not really diggin' Stretch Panthero (Armstrong)

But I really like the new Monkian(Adicus) and Jackleman(Kaynar).

Panthro said he could still feal his old arms, there might be a chance that he will one day get them back...maybe.

That's common in limb loss. They call it "phantom feeling." Signals get sent to the brain from misfires in the nerves that tell a person they have a pain (or in Panthro's case, an itch) in their now-missing limb.

What a kickass ep.

I'm liking the new take on the foes. They're characters, and not simply caricatures. They're menacing evil, and not just bumbling, mustache-twirling evil. Nice change of pace.

Now if could just get some character building/background stuff for these villians. Why does slithe hate the Cats, why is Adicus a violent brute, why is Kaynar insane. But first they need to have those kind of episodes for the main characters. Which it looks like they will for Tygra and maybe the twins soon.

I thought it was 'Atticus' myself.

I am worried about Kaynar being just 'Joker Crazy' Also didn't we see some clean, sane 'noble' jackal-folk in the exposition episode?

I guess Lion-O is dealing with "Character Development or die."

Or "Character development or stay dead," if you want to be completely accurate.

I am still a little mad that they didn't have any preview clips or pics for the last episode.

What annoys me is that, as an Aussie, the only way I can watch this is via YouTube. And currently every damn Thundercats Video is full of pirating adds.

Can anyone direct me to a 'Clean' site where I can buy the damn things, either as DVDs or actual downloadable movies? And by 'Clean', I mean 'completely legal and supporting the creators'.

Are they available via iTunes in Australia?

Season 1 is out on DVD here in the States. If your Region 4 DvD player will also play Region 1 (U.S. & Canada) DVDs, you might buy them and have them shipped to a North American friend's house who can ship them to you.

The first season isn't even aired yet.

We only have the first 8 episodes on DVD out yet.

A season for the show is actually 26 episodes not 13.

Silver Crusade

The thing that I like is that Atticus is a brutal and barbaric foe, but he also obviously has had some degree of extensive training. When and if we finally get an origin story for him I half expect it to be a more kid friendly take on Heart of Darkness or more appropriately Colonel Kurtz from that great Heart of Darkness remake Apocalypse Now.

However, we have not seen them again IIRC since the accident with them, so maybe it was a glich that the Berbils fixed.

At least this time they remembered to show some previes for this episode.

New Thundercats today, we get to find out about Tygra'd family/origin and get see Lion-o's mother.

Silver Crusade

Well I guess that puts an end to my hopes for Bengali.

Spoiler:
Unless they discover another lost tiger clan it seems likely that we will not see him in this series.

Or the old tiger clan kicked him out for being a white tiger and in there culture thought it was a bad omen or something.

Except he used them in the second part of "Trials of Lion-O."

Spoiler:
When Lion-O asks him to take out the doors to M's sanctum, he stretches out an arm over the guards' heads and plants a lamprey mine on the doors.

Looks like Pumyra next week, and I just watched the Tiger Clan episode. (They should have gotten Peter Newman to do Javan's voice.)

I wish we got some previews for the last episode and hopefully we do for the next one.

I really liked the dog town. I also LOVED the shield designs for the pit fight, they reminded me of the shields from 08 MS Team, one of my all time favorite Gundam series.

Indeed. UC Gundam for life, yo.

Anybody see last saturdays episode?

Great nod to the original series, Godzilla, and Mothra.

Awesome season finally.

So nobody saw the season one finally?

i enjoyed the finale. Another classic villian added. Hopefully it comes back

I wasn't expecting the face-heel-turn.

Though I enjoy that the command word for the bag is "Rankin-Bass!"

I do agree I hope it comes back. We still haven't seen the amazons.

It would be nice to see the warrior maidens, Mandora, Snowman, and many others from the original series.

Yeah I also liked "Rankin-Bass" as the bag's command word.
