I liked it. It's still early in the story, but I'm interested to see where they go with it.

Yes, very nice. Glad to see it getting a decent redue. I was disappointed with most of the other remakes of my favorite cartoons from the past.

I am glad that it is not a direct remake of the original series, but rather a sort of sequel set way in the future of the original.

I agree it's nice to see it's not a direct redo of the original. There are rumours that other Rankin properties might cameo.

I liked it myself. Liked it alot.

They hinted at the Silverhawks making a cameo.

The only way I would accept this is if this version of the Silverhawks didn't have to go deliver batteries to the giant flashlight at the center of the universe that lights everything up.

As to the show, I really enjoyed it. Although, I admit I kept expecting Lion-O to call back to the batcave and ask Bruce for help. (what with him being voiced by Will Freidle, and all)

Silver Crusade

I'm holding out for Tigersharks. :)

(seriously, what was it with that company blowing all of their animation budget on the intros?)

I enjoyed it also

Good I'm not alone on this...

Now imagine how much of a head-frak it would have been if Kevin Conroy was voicing Grune?

Yeah the opener was a good start -- it will be interesting to see where they go from here. Voltron has been fun to share with my son too.

I really liked the new take on the series, such as the destruction of Thundera the kingdom vs. Thundera the world.

I also liked the cameo by Lynx-O. It will be interesting how the series develops from here.

I was fine with Lex Luthor voicing Grune

The bad news is I heard that the new opening for the show will be very short(10seconds or less).

They said that Silverhawks and Tigersharks will cameo. At least in the most recent interview but still no word if Monkian and Jackleman will show up this season or the warrior woman ether.

Repeating my requirement for not immediately disowning the show if the Silverhawks show up as being "No damned flashlight in the center of the universe."

I might even be okay with the rainbow laser keytar. Just no Cosmic Flashlight.

Silver Crusade

I really like the show, I am especially happy that snarf does not talk. Did they have the book of omens in the old show?

Yup; Book of Omens was in the last season or two.

Dark Archive

I really liked what they did so far. I want a pipes of irresistible dance for my bard now.

Anybody know if there is a spot online hosting the episodes (legally of course)? I was too busy watching Cap punch out Hitler 200 times on Friday.

Ratings wise the new Thundercats got 2.4 million.

Not on Cartoon Network's website, plus it looks like they are running repeats of the episodes at all. So it is watch it Friday night or not at all. :(

Pretty well done all around. And the best part...Snarf can't speak. :D

The next Thundercats episode will be on cartoon network, on friday august 5th, at 8:30pm, and it will be called "Ramlack Rising".

Ah, MM. I did think of you, seeker, and others when the mechs walked out. I loved that part.

I am looking forward to Wileykat and Wileykit joining the group and them tracking down Panthro.

Anybody see the new episode friday?

Yeah

Spoiler:
Bit of Moby Dick and we know Jaga's mostly alive. In some ways, the body count in the original series is higher.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yep. Watched it with the husband last night. It was filler, but filler that quoted both Moby Dick and Wrath of Khan (hint: same quote) so I am totally okay with this.

Dark Archive

I am loving the twins. They add a light hearted touch to an otherwise dark and brooding group. The fact that Tigra gets seasick is nice too, because it shows that he is not better than Lion-O at everything.

It looks like Panthro will be in the next episode.

Liberty's Edge

In love with the show and will now be making it my Friday night ritual. Anything to support the cause.

Also, totally had a man squeal over the original voice of Lion-O doing the voice of new Lion-o's father. I'm also a sucker for a little romance in my stories so seeing some chemistry going on between Lion-o and Cheetara is cute.

Yes I like the whole Liono and Cheetara thing as well.

It looks like Panthro is in the last episode on friday like I thought.

I am loving the twins as well.

But I like to see some more character developement and back story for the characters especially the twins.

It took 4 episodes, but we finally got "Thundercats! Ho!" in a nice visual shout out to the original series.

I havent seen it; is it all the old characters? are their new characters? does Momra look totally cool?

Anyone see the previews for tonight's episode?

Dragon78 wrote:

I haven't seen the preview yet, but Panthro's gonna be in it and it's gonna be epic.

:O

I want to throw my lot in with the people who are glad Snarf doesn't talk. That was a genius move. I don't know if it's just me, but the dialogue and pacing seem to be downplayed ever so slightly, probably to make it more watchable for kids.

Spoiler:
Lion-O's sudden descent into bloodlust, or temporary insanity, or whatever in Rumlak Rises was very... well, sudden. I like how so far, Lion-O has been faced with a lot of things that teach him a lesson about life and being a leader, but that one felt forced.

I figure the writing will get better as the show progresses though, the longer they work on it and the more into it they get, etc etc.

EDIT: New episode previews.

While the sword seems to be working differently, it's nice to hear the same sound effects I remember.

Liberty's Edge

Aside from CW's Supernatural, this show is now the only other show I actually sit down in front of a TV to watch ... and I love it.

Good episode even if I dont much care for Panthro. More Lion-o please but otherwise awesome.

Dark Archive

I was not impressed with last night's episode as much as the first three.

Spoiler:
The first three episodes have been about Lion-O growing as a leader and discovering things about himself that he will need on his quest. I felt that this is what this episode should have been about as well. Lion-O should have learned that it is important to listen to those with more experience than you. In stead it seemed more about setting up a situation where Panthro would become impressed with Lion-O and decide that he really should listen to him. The back story about Panthro and Grun was pretty good though and we finally understand that Grun was ambitious and "evil" from the start.

I want more Mum-Ra. Enough with the teasers already.

I didn't mind the flashbck so much, it made more sense than the present storyline.

Spoiler:
I still want to see Lion-o and Tigra's mom in a flashback. And I'm honestly curious now if Mumm-Ra was telling the truth about the sword of Omens. I also found it interesting that he almost looked like a mummified lizardfolk. So are Grune. Panthro and Jaga of the same age?

Also, like David said, I'd have liked more learning for Lion-O like learning that rank doesn't mean experience. (I see Lion-O as that 'fresh-out-of-ROTC-Lieutennant' and Panthro as that Master Seargent.

I agree with most of the above (minus Mum-Ra, ick [shudder]). They were doing great with Lion-O's learning curve until that episode. Also, I love Panthro's top-knot and chops. XD

Respect the chops.

I like the episode but I do think that Lion-o should have learned to listen to someone with more experience and wisdom though.

Anybody see this fridays episode?
