For those of you not at PaizoCon (like me) or who don't follow @NEONCON on twitter...here you go!
New 5 Factions were announced at PaizoCon!
#1 - The Grand Lodge, finally the Society gets it's own faction!
#2 - The Lantern Lodge, representing the Tian Xa continent.
#3 - The Skarni, the Gypsy "mafia" of Varisia.
#4 - The Silver Crusade, do-gooders following the ethos of Silver Dragons.
#5 - The Shadow Lodge, the "dark side" of Pathfinder Society.
There will be rules to adapt PFS season 0-2 scenarios to accommodate the five new factions. New faction rules will let folks switch factions more than once ... at a cost.
Enjoy!

Argh, blame me for derailing the thread, sorry :-(
Back on track, t-shirts? Has there been any mention of the new faction symbols and colours yet?
Mark and Hyrum came around the 2nd session of PFS on Saturday blatently displaying the new 5 symbols.
They all looked very cool and in full color, but that is all I remember since I was GMing a scenario at the time and was a bit distracted.

Isn't it going to be a little weird playing the Shadow Lodge faction during a good majority of Season 2 scenarios? Just sayin'...
I think it's going to be a little weirder to try to obey the "don't interfere with other players' faction missions" rule if you've got a Shadow Lodge and Grand Lodge person at the same table. I'm interested to see how they're going to work that...

I would suggest you go out and play some of the new modules if you get the chance. The Shadow War is winding to a close, and there are ways around such problems.

I guess you'll have to be more specific--I've played a lot of the newer Shadow Lodge modules, but I'd still be interested to see how they're going to work two opposed factions not interfering with one another.

I really can't be more specific except to say:

Thanks. That helps. ;)

Considering that the Shadow Lodge have agents infiltrating all echelons of the Pathfinder Society, it is only to be expected, that Pathifinders strugling with the SL in S2 scenarios will be under very close SL surveilance.

A bit unclear on the concept of having three Lodges. So if my character is in the Lantern Lodge does this mean:
1) I am a member of both the PFS and the lantern society or whatever it is called?
2) Am I in the Lantern Lodge, spying on the PFS?
3) Are both Lodges just different parts of the PFS?
4) Am I not in the PFS at all?

Mark Garringer wrote:Umm why is this a faction since we all PATHFINDERS and the Grand Lodge is our headquarters? This seems like a redundant concept. I thought factions were missions related to National Affiliation.#1 - The Grand Lodge, finally the Society gets it's own faction!
Nope, the factions are for those playing political games within the society. With the advent of the Shadow Lodge, the Decembrate began getting attacked both literally and politically. This forced them to become more of a political force.

When I chose Andoran for Bbauzh, I basically made character stat and skill decisions, and personality decisions for him so he would fit Andoran.
I don't understand why, when choosing a faction is mandatory, that people create characters and then tack the faction on as an afterthought.
I've made both kinds of characters -- some who are loyal patriots for their faction and some where the faction is just an afterthought. They're all equally interesting to me.

That is the faction.
A blog in the next couple of months should show how it fits in with the Society.

My bad, I didn't catch that on the re-tweet :)
Yes, Sczarni.

In brightest day,
In blackest night,
No faction mission shall escape my sight.
All evil I will blight,
Beward my power,
I cast light!
You can choose from:
Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet, Black, and White.Whatever color you choose (aside from white) you may have black accenting the clothing, but aside from that, thats the ONLY color you can wear.

And if you choose not to wear your hair that color, you can shave it off.

That part is for the player though, not the character.

The main reason for changing my PC's faction is that his current faction is changing its alignment (to a step further away from my PC's alignment).

The question isn't so much why are people choosing to change factions, but rather when creating the character's personality, theme, background, et. al. is choosing a Faction not part of the integral process. In other words, why don't people fold the faction into who their character is.
One fellow gave a response that made sense, in that doing both interests him. But then I didn't think he'd be the one to complain that the factions didn't fit his character. He made that conscious choice.
But why complain that factions don't fit your character concept, when you know that factions are an integral part of this campaign? Just create your concept to be integral with a particular faction. Problem solved.

Is their color Green, or is there one for each color of the emotional spectrum plus black? :)
Black Lantern Pathfinders for the win!
