Here is the discussion thread. Any communications you want to have with me or the group out of character should be handled here. I trust everyone to be on their honor in this and the game thread, but if you need something you feel spoilers alone cannot cover, then my email is lordkalizar@aol.com. Welcome to the game.

Huzzah!
I'm not sure the timing between Port Ice and Restov.. The original character background I had was for Keiran to be awaiting summons from the Swordlords before leaving Port Ice. If he arrives late, perhaps that can be written in? I don't know if getting to Restov is even possible in 2 days. Heh.

That is a great idea you had on the IC boards about Keiran and I going together. I like it if Keiran is amiable as well. If not that's ok too but I think it makes the most sense.
Very good! I have posted a revised prologue for Keiran involving Xanthan in the game thread.

Hi all! Looking forward to a fun game.
I've played D&D since the late 80's. Right now I'm in Ohio, and just found a live game to play pathfinder with.
I'll be your healmonkey for this adventure!
I.. believe that makes me the.. healedmonkey..
WELL MET!! Please don't let me die! ;)

Howdy neighbor, WV here. I've been tossing dice since 1980 or so. Welcome to the game.

When I say late 80's I mean LATE 80s. Mostly early 90's. I do have a D&D rules cyclopedia moldering in a box somewhere, but we played AD&D until the fall of TSR. I even got it banned from school by playing it during lunch with a small group.
Oh and Xanthan- be careful! Simondale doesn't get remove disease until level 3.

They're accuracy is really good I've only found one mistake which they had already added to a patch for update when I brought it to their attention. As for how quickly the source material comes up it depends on how fast stuff gets released. Usually they have it up within a week or two after the stuff is released.
BTW Keiran, I am LOVING our interactions! They are so much fun!

Xanthan/Imimrtl -
I know you'll probably get tons of unsolicited advice with the new youngling. If you don't mind, I'll add my 2 pinches. I recommend the Happiest Baby on the Block for new parents; it details some of the reasons why your baby cries and his sleep cycle. If you can get it from the library, or there are lots of places to pick it up - I highly recommend it. Another book on brain development and learning that does a good job of explaining some of the psychology of skill acquisition is
Bright from the Start. I have considered making my students read it.

I won't go into too much dad detail, because it'll make us seem like weird hippies, but we're actually potty training at just over a year. From 6 months on she's actually used the toilet, except for wet diapers overnight and when we can't get her to a toilet. Historically kids were potty trained around 18 months; Sigmund Freud's advice and that of the 'experts' hired by the disposable diaper industry pushed potty training back to the 3's around 1960...
/Adjusts his tinfoil hat.
/This is my comment on toilets. I promise.

Thanks for the advice everyone! This is actually boy number two. I have a 2.5 year old as well running around so its definitely been interesting. Having fun but having two is exponentially more exhausting than having one lol. We had our older on trained at about a year and a half so hes been out of diapers for a while now. Only pullups at night as a precaution, that he doesnt really even need because he will wake us up if he has to go. The funny thing is I now have two kids named after arthurian knights lol, Gavin (Gawain) is my oldest and Trystan (Tristan) is my newest.

A player can spend an action point to add 1d6 to any to hit roll, saving throw, critical confirmation, or skill check prior to determining if the current roll result is successful.
A player can spend an action point to add 1 point to any to hit roll, saving throw, critical confirmation, or skill check after determining the current roll result is a failure.
Hero Points are used as described in the Advanced Player's Guide, except that Hero Points are only awarded by the DM, per DM discretion, not by leveling up.

As a note to my players, the Kingmaker thread has met its demise. The two remaining players will be joining this thread, unless anyone has any problems with that. A mobile fighter, and a scout. While not spellcasters, I think they will make a fair addition to this group, especially since everyone is coming out well on the role-play side of things. The party will do well with the casters currently in residence. There are additional npc casters/creators available in areas as the game develops, so you should have no problems.

I hope this short intro is enough to wet everyone's appetites to get to know one another, without taking anything away from each player's original intentions.
As to any previous relationships in the group, those of you with potential connections are only familiar with one another in passing.
Keiran knows a cousin had been trying to get into the ranks of the Swordlords, something no "House Worthy" Surtovan had ever managed, so the man is probably a black sheep of the house, lacking in that political guile that made him seek adventure elsewhere.
Adreccam knows that he is not alone amongst the outcast children of Surtova; there are others who seek a better image, an honorable future for the Surtova name. He just has never met one before.
Flynn is a scout, and bears upon his gear, if not his outfits, the markings of a scout unit, the Twin Blades, a group often allied with various Crimson military units. Whether he served or not, to possess the equipment and not have been arrested by the Castellan indicates he must bear them honorably.
Xanthan would have heard of the Twin Blades, and know they are a good unit, loyal to the Throne first, the Regency second, House Surtova third.
Good enough gents?

Reading back over the IC thread, I've gleaned the following info about the bands and their charters:
Band 1: The PCs. We have the charter for the Greenbelt.
Band 2: Veric's Rangers. At first, they had the charter for Hooktongue Slough, but then Dupreaux took it away and gave them the charter for the Narimarch Woods. From the evidence found on the road, they've torn up that charter and turned back into Brevoy.
Band 3: Lord Harris Drelev and his Servants: Didn't have a charter to start, but now has the charter for Hooktongue Slough, thanks to Dupreaux.
Band 4: Dunkrint, Tamus Khan, Lord Varn, and the Demihumans: They have a charter for the Tors of Levenies.
Back at the private dinner, we were told that a group was being given a charter for the Nomen Heights, yet there was no mention of this charter outside Pero's shop. Are we supposed to be aware of who got that charter?
Also, who was missing from the dinner party? It was the largest chair, and it was at the head of the table, so I assume it was someone who outranked everybody present. Are we supposed to know, or is it a mystery?
Lastly, is Jacob Pero a Pathfinder?
DM Kalizar |
1, 2, 3, and 4 are correct, as far as PC knowledge goes.
?1) The Dunsward and Nomen Heights are the northern approach to the Tors of Levenies, but yes, as far as you can tell no one was given that charter at the time of your departure. The Castellan's aide did have other scrolls and packets in his bag, perhaps one of them was to those areas.
?2) The empty chair is a mystery. No one in any of the groups paid it much attention at the time of the dinner. However, since you brought it up, you might question the memory of the person sitting closest to it at the party, to see if they remember any half forgotten info to shed light on the subject. Choice of Perception or Knowledge Nobility Check, and only for the person(s) sitting next to the empty chair. In this case it would be Xanthan and Adrecccam; they ended up closest to the chair.
?3) Yes, Jacob Pero appears to be a Pathfinder; his shop is the only one to carry copies of the Chronicles on a regular and updating schedule. According to street gossip, he is recruiting agents for the Society.
Good on you to garner this much info on the mystery thus far.
Adreccam Surtova |
Alright, cool. Good to hear I've gotten things right in my head. I don't suppose there's a detailed map of the Stolen Lands floating around anywhere, is there? The Player's Guide only has a map of Brevoy.
Here's Adreccam's Perception Check to get a clue about the empty chair: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2. Welp, so much for that. Xanthan, you wanna give me a hand over here?
