He said it looked like something I would like...How COOL was THAT????
Pretty effing, dude. Pretty effing.
I read and reread the book, but it didn't make a lot of sense till I picked up the blue box and started a little simpler.
Yyyyyeeeaaaahhh--STARTING with the AD&D DMG is NOT highly recommended!

DM Harpwizard |

Actually, I think I did start with the AD&D DM's Guide. However, the game made a whole lot more sense once I got the Player's Handbook. Although I had a blast playing the game back then, I really do think they have made some great improvements over the years. In fact, I love what Pathfinder has kept and what they have improved upon. Progression is so much better than the old days. I remember after getting to about 12th level, it became really slow advancing them.
Vaughn, I now own Dorkness Rising and it is one of my all time favorite movies now. My son and I laugh all the way through it, even after having seen it multiple times. That must have been awesome to have seen at Gen Con. I will have to put that on my list of things to do.
Sebastian, I still love to listen to Rush and Yes. My brothers and I still catch them most every tour. I don't think I will ever stop listening to them.
Well folks, I don't feel so bad now. I graduated high school in 1988 and I thought I was one of the old geezers on the boards. Now I realize that most of us are all of the same generation. I am also thrilled to see the next generation coming up and enjoying this awesome game! You guys have really been a pleasure to play with. I really feel grateful to have met such a nice group of people!

Awe, thanks DMHW. It's been nice meeting you and everyone else here as well. Oh, and I like Rush :)
I think I may be joining a 4th edition game soon with some people I know here in town. I'm so excited!
I just took my last final for the semester, got a 94%. Now I'm all done and just waiting for my grades to be posted.

Yay, Bree!! You must be thrilled to finished with the semester. My school keeps going through December 22. At least I get next Friday and the following week off!
Yes, I will admit. I have been a huge Rush fan for most of my life. I never liked them in elementary school, but by the time I got into junior high school, I became obsessed with them. I have probably seen them in concert about 17 times. I missed the last tour because my brothers did not renew their passports and we could not get up to Montreal to see them, (which is actually easier for us to get to than Boston). This was also the first tour where they actually played the entire album Moving Pictures. I can't believe I missed it! Oh well! At least my brothers and I had a great party watching the tour on DVD a few weeks ago. It was certainly a lot cheaper. :-)

Bree Longfield |

I've only had the chance to go to a couple of concerts in my life, and sadly Rush was not one of them.
I am, very much so. Things have been pretty intense for me the last year and a half and truth be told I wish I could take a semester or two off from school while I deal with life but I can't. At least the next semester doesn't start up for another month.

I had tickets to the last Rush tour here in Chicago, but they cancelled about 30 minutes after it was supposed to start because of "inclement weather" - bah, that would have just made for a better background for the songs. As far as Asia goes, I have seen them twice in the last few years. I saw them last spring and was about 7 feet from John Wetton. We got to the House of Blues 2 hours before the show and managed to get in the front row about 10 feet from the center of the stage. I copied one or two songs on my IPhone. It was awesome, for a bunch of guys who have been playing over 40 years, those guys still know how to rock. Although I am pretty sure that Steve Howe has been replaced with the Crypt Keeper at some point.

Tirion Jörðhár |

That is because Steve has been touring with Yes the last few years. We saw them in Concord, NH last year. We actually got to meet Chris Squire and Oliver Wakeman backstage that night!
No - Steve is just OLD - he looks like he died a number of years ago. I have seen skeletons which look more alive. I think they may use his likeness for pictures of a lich. On the flip side - man can he play a guitar. He remains unreal, and don't even let me get started on Carl Palmer on drums. Anyone who does not know who Carl Palmer is, here is a video.

DM Harpwizard |

Actually Tirion, the first video is Carl Palmer during the Black Moon Tour from around '94. If you want to see the master in '77 for the Works Tour with Emerson Lake and Palmer, look at this. He was a monster back then!
Either way, he is still brilliant. I cannot believe how well these old Rockers keep on going! I hope I will be doing the same at their age!

LOL - only you would know exactly which tour a video is from

Hi Guys!
Just returned from 12 hours of renovating the new home - you have to forgive me, but I won't post anything, just fall into my bed. Not sure about tomorrow eithe, but I'll definitely post updates at some point during the weekend.
God, I feel like knocked down by a tank argh

Sebastian DeGray |

Home Renovation....this is why my weekends are slow for posting.
Painting-done, plumbing-done, winterizing- done, refinsihing 100 year old wood floors 2 of 3 done. I get a break for the holidays, then its off to finish the last floor.
Then in the spring, I get to start on the yard. Removing gravel and putting in a small lawn. Replacing a fence, and putting in a vegetable garden.
Crazy thing is, I enjoy it!

Bree Longfield |

I've just been on a crazy sleep schedule. My daughter has been staying up until after 3 am all week and then sleeping until after 1 pm. I don't know what got her started on it, but started it the night before going to her dad's house last weekend. I've been trying to break her from it, get her on a more reasonable schedule but haven't had any luck with it yet. Otherwise, I've just been kicking back enjoying the fact that the semester is over.

AAAAARRRRGGGGGG - where did everyone go.
Tirion pulls out his Never Empty Decanter of Ale and his Everfull Bag of Marshmallows and begins offering them to fellow campfire members in hopes of starting some discussion.

Sorry, still tired, almost two hours of waiting doctor's office (holidays are coming the years is reaching its end, everybody suddenly seems thinks he hast to get an appointment with his doctor - the staff there looked more sick then most patients did...), but hell, I take some marshmallows, have somme of my candies.

DM Harpwizard |

"AAAAARRRRGGGGGG - where did everyone go?"
"Stop grumbling, Jörðhár. Here, have another marshmallow and sit back and watch this documentary about the Real History of Rush!"

I think this one is more appropriate for this crowd.
