*saves Zyren some turkey, ships it to Germany*

Dungeon Master

Went for a seven mile hike on an old abandoned train track today. Pretty cool, there were 5 tunnels, the longest was about 300 feet. It was the track that was used to build the Hoover Dam. Hope all had a great day - back to killing undead and hobgoblins tomorrow.

How unfolds the weekend for everybody? So far so good for me, just catching up with old friends and working.

Tirion, have you ever paddled downriver of Hoover dam? There are some great slot canyons and hot springs on that stretch.

VC - Sydney, Australia

Good weekend so far... that torrential rain has moved on and now its scorching days :)

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Nope - never camped or really done much in the southwest. I grew up in New Hampshire and spent a ton of time hiking and climbing in the White Mountains, but have not done much outside of that area. My boys are 5 and 7 so, I may start thinking about doing more camping and stuff in the next year or two if I have the time.

Sadly, not the best weekend. Little sleep, much work, my foot is, again, worse, and today I seem to have issues with my browser/router

- I can't get to any other page then the paizo page (also my starting page - had a browser update for firefox this morning)
- other browser (including Steam) can't reach any page at all (like steam shop), on the other hand:
- TV (also via dsl / router) works fine
- Steam can still download files

Since I cannot even google for similar problems, if one of you has any idea, it would be appreciated.

Oh, and good morning

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

deinstall firefox?

Mornin'!

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

I tried to run other browsers (without deinstalling firefox thatis), the thing is: they can't open any page, so firefox doesn't seem to be the source of the trouble :(

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

DNS server problem? Can you ping a webpage?

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

Yup, pinging works.
My t-entertain receiver just rebooted itself. I am now using every Antivir and anti Malware software I have on my harddrive, just to be sure...
Steam works fine suddenly...

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

Not quite a minute ago, suddenly all tabs of yesterdays last online session opened (spiegel.de, nvidia driver page, thors-mannen.de) and I can navigate those pages as well as the paizo homepage. Once I open a new tab or try to reach another page through an open tab, it doesn't work. Sadly the page of my university wasn't open, that would be quite important...)
I think I am gettin a headache...

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Shall I look something up for you on the uni homepage?

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

Thank you, but no. I need to organize how to get through next week without being physically present, as my foot prevents me from attending seminars. A friend of mine will bring his netbook to the gas station where I work tonight, so I can spend some of the customer sparse time doing so - in case I don't get the ******* browser/router to work until then.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Fey - can you click through things?

Here is the link to Google Crome. https://www.google.de/chrome/

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

No, sadly I can't. I can reach every spot on the paizo homepage for example, or the picture galleries from Thors-Mannen, but as soon as a new tab or window opens to reach another page - it stops working. With some look, a friend who is much better with computers (hard- and software) then I am, who will be here in about an hour, can help me fix this...

Scarab Sages

male 1/4 Elf Lorekeeper???

It's aliiiiiive! Ahm, I mean it wors again. Seems like part of the routers software was corrupted and somehow not replaced, when I uninstalled and reinstalled the whole package. Good to have friends who know what they are doing (and who come by sunday evening to help! Thank you!)

Anyway, not long till my nightshift, and since I still have to grab dinner, shower and replace my bandages it's good night everybody.

Female Human Rogue-Knife Master/10 (Init: +4)

Hope you get it all worked out feytharn, I no oh so little about this magic box I play on all day.

Just a quick good morning to everyone, (even though it's after 3 pm) I'm horribly busy and will be until at least Tuesday. I'm checking the pages daily, just not been posting much.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Is everyone sleeping off the excess turkey around the campfire?

TarkXT:

Did you see my query on the assassin recruitment? I was wondering if I could slightly modify the fetchling's abilities so that it is +2 dex, +2 int, -2 wis instead of the +2 dex, +2 cha, -2 wis that is standard? Fetchling looks like it would work well for this. If this does not work, then I will switch to another race (Slyph, Elf, Tiefling) which gives +2 dex/int.

** spoiler omitted **

I'd rather you switched to another race. Tiefling is rather appropriate in this case being Cheliax.

Nah, but as always after a nightshift...and a day full of work (somehow it seems I had even more to do now I couldn't attend classes...) my posting tends to be ... erratic at best.

TarkXT:

Ok, I have no problem playing a tiefling, and rolled on the other recruitment thread, but was wondering about your opinion of working with the Advanced Players' Guide. I put together the following as essentially a Shadow Halfling - sort of like the Fetchling, but of halfling stock. If it does not work, I will switch to one of the normal (or listed monstrous) races.

_________________________

Shadowling:
Outsider (Native) - plane of shadow 2 RP
Humanoid (Halfling) 0 RP

Size
Small 0 RP
Speed
Slow -1 RP

Ability Scores
Standard Modifiers (+2 Dex, +2 Wis, -2 Str) 0 RP
Advanced Intelligence (+2 Int) 4 RP

Language
Standard Array (Halfling, Common) 1 RP
May select from (Aklo, Aquan, Auran, Draconic, D’ziriak (understanding only, cannot speak), Ignan, Terran, and any regional human tongue.)

Defense Racial Abilities:
Shadow Blending (50% miss in dim light) 1 RP
Halfling Luck 2 RP

Offensive Abilities:
Poison Use 1 RP

Magical Abilities
Spell-Like Ability(reduce person - 1/day) 1 RP

Skill and Feat Abilities:
Stalker(Stealth & Percep are class abilities) 1 RP

Senses:
Darkvision(60’) (Default from type) - RP

Weaknesses:
Light Blindness -2 RP
_____________________________

Total point value is 10. The other monstrous races range from Slyph - 7 RP to Aasimar - 13 RP. The normal classes are 10 RP each.

Essentially, these are halflings who were trapped for years in the Plane of Shadow. Unlike their happy Golarian brethren, Shadowlings have spent eons hiding and stealing to survive. Those that are caught end up killed or enslaved. Thus, they developed the ability to make themselves tiny to increase their ability to hide. Shadowlings, as with their normal cousins, are very skilled at roguish skills, but, unlike normal halflings, Shadowlings have become quite skilled at the magical arts, both arcane and divine. Whereas many halflings may be born with some sorcerous or oracular mystical powers, Shadowlings tend to gain their powers through study with the rare exceptions of those who take to witchcraft.

Shadowlings are uncommon in the Inner Sea, having only recently begun to appear escaping from the Plane of Shadow into the shadow realm of Nidal.

Ehhhhh no. Bad experiences with that book. Not touching it.

Female

1d8 ⇒ 6 Hit points.

Stuck between getting infusion or getting tanglefoot bombs (which stack with stink bomb for a hilarious combo!) infusions will let me pass out things for people to buff with. Tanglefoot bombs in a smokebomb mix will outright stop a caster dead.

Also gained swift poisoning...don't know what I'm going to do with that one.

Going to avoid the really weird stuff like wings and vestigal arms for now since I'm still fairly new and Alcheringa might decide I'm turning into some wretched unnatural abomination.

Formulae added to book: Cure Moderate Wounds, Vomit Swarm

No thanks.

Dark heresy is when I want to be crawling deep under ncromunda crapping my pants as my rusted bolted decides to jam while some...thing is raping me to death in orifices I wasn't even aware I had.

Rogue Trader is for when I want to be escaping from an exploding planet with space marines and bolter b$*+$es on my tail with an Eldar wench in one hand a glass of the finest brandy in the other an a one legged one eyed Ork manservant named "lucky" behind me ready to refill my glass while riding atop my ship shaped like a giant middle finger piloted by a crack crew of misfits from around the galaxy. Why did the planet blow up?

Because I'm a magnificent bastard that's why.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Ok - important question. I am teaching my 7 year old to play Pathfinder. I have the Forgotten Fortress module which seems pretty straightforward, is there any other good simple modules that I should consider.

Also, is there a place that has good reasonably priced miniatures? I have some old lead figures that are 25 years old, but though that it would be fun for him to have his own. The problem is that most of the sites I found - Paizo, Troll & whatever, etc - do not have a good way of finding specific figures.

Specifically, he has a halfling rogue, an elf wizard, a half-elf fighter with an earthbreaker, and a human cleric. I decided to keep it simple at the beginning.

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

Into the haunted forest is also pretty straightforward, but with very easy riddles.

What means reasonably priced? :) (like 5$ for a mini or like 50 cent for a mini)?

Dungeon Master

Tirion, you can order individual miniatures at Troll and Toad at a reasonable price. Consider this:

Troll and Toad

Female Aasimar Cleric 10 hp 81/83; AC 22, FF 19, T 14; Channel Energy (5d6) [8/10]; Touch of Good [8/9];Agile Feet [9/9];Holy Lance [1/1] Fort: +12, Reflex +10, Will +17; Init +3, Diplomacy +19, Perception +17

Zyren:

Zyren, I am looking for ways to develop Celestra's role playing potential. I came upon this site for Cayden Cailean.

I am not sure of this source, but I have never seen the small box entitled Magic of Cayden Cailean before. Would you permit those abilities, such as spontaneously being able to cast knock for a first level spell and allowing the zero level create water orison to be able to be used to create ale or wine instead?

If this is the case, would you permit me to change Purify Food and Drink which is what Celestra prepared for one of her 0 level spells to Create Water (Ale or Wine) without having to wait another day for resting?

I love the Dark Heresy books - I sadly haven't played anything more then two promo-adventures yet (still, the german collectors edition of the rulebook looks pretty sharp on my shelf ;-) and I hope to find the time to play it, soon).

Divine Gamemaster of the Abyss and below...

@ DMHW: AFAIK, the source for these rules is Gods&Magic - so yes, they are allowed to use. And yes, you can just change that.

@ Fey: But no love for Warhammer fantasy, eh?

Thanks all - by the way, is the beginner's boxed set worth getting? My son has been reading the Core Rulebook (he keeps telling me what chapter everything is in from memory). Would the beginner's set be useful for him. I am sure that he will read the whole thing in a few days.

VC - Sydney, Australia

I bought a Beginner box for under the Christmas tree.

WIll know if it is worth getting shortly after!

Seems like a good deal though, rules aside you get a nice battlemat, a bunch of counter/minis, and a set of dice for a pretty low price... think it cost me 26USD including postage.

The beginner box rules look like they will play a lot faster, and lay the game out in a logical order (ie character generation etc).

It might have use too if your son has friends that want to get in on the fun, but don't live in a house with access to the books, like your son has.

Male Gnome Sorcerer/9 - (HP: 49/49 - AC20;FF17;T18 - F+5;R+6;W+7 - Init+9 - Per+11)

Heh - I only have 1 book so far- the Core Rulebook. Only got back into the game a few months ago. Most of my gaming is AD&D from MANY years ago with DM Harpwizard.

Soon you will be "One of Us...One of Us.."

I don't have any of my own to subvert, but I'm trying to recruit my nephews. Unfortunately, the 10 year old has been ruined by his mother (my brother's ex), but there's still hope for the 3 year old.
(A New Hope) if you will :)

I have had friends comment on my "unusual" collection of books or even a few know that they are game books. And then there is the wife who is supportive of my hobby, but "just doesn't get it".

Over the holidays I hope to spring it on all of them.
