Anyone remember how stats were rolled in hod? It's drop lowest right?
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 4) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 5) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 1, 5) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6, 1) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 2) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 3) = 14
Nope
4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 6) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 1) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 1, 5) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 6, 2) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 5, 6) = 20
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 6, 4) = 18
Nope
4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 3, 2) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 1) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 6) = 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1, 1) = 8
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 5) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 4, 6) = 18
Actually I might go with this one.

Can't figure out whether I like the Arcanist. As it was originally with the bloodline stuff, then it was more interesting, with the new abilities, it just seems Meh!. Sort of like an underpowered Sorcerer. More diversity in spells, so less likely to be useless which is what a Sorcerer is when they run into a monster immune to their key spells, but if built properly with a few buffing spells, a Sorc is always going to be better.
The class I really wanted was a Monk/Druid cross. Giving the druid spells and shape changing coupled with the Monk's martial prowess - Wisdom boost to AC, unarmed skills, etc.

I'm actually ratehr excited to give it a shot. I really like versatile classes (see the entire practical book i wrote about clerics) so this hits all the right spots for me. It let's Kyren do his thinkg without fear of me accidentally stepping on his toes since I can just change to suit the needs of the group.
Even the concept and thoughts for the character I have in mind sound interesting. What's nice is I was one of the people calling for this exact change of flavor. :)

Well, in this particular case they might make it to 'ruins of a razed castle' status...
I guess that is the nice thing about using a castle cake mold. If it sticks or breaks, then you can always explain that it is the ruins of a great empire.

Yeh, but we need to get Mobo back to rhyming and singing.
Atty started it.
Problem is that when the speed is slow you sort of lose track of what you were up to and the interest in doing so wanes...
Need to keep the pace on a little, and be prepared to move on even if not everyone posts - otherwise we move too slowly.
Looks like all my PFS games are now on break until Jan, so I can chill until I start the next round of scenarios - seems to be a really good format given the duration - but even there we lost a few players as we went. One of the changes I will be making is the swap to Googledraw maps, a much quicker way of doing things. Might even consider a mod now!

I played Tararr for 2 years and was never more excited than when he died. I mean, does that ever happen anymore?
Yep. I don't mind letting players cark, I think the party got a bit surprised at being beaten on in the PFS sessions, though you enjoyed it :p They only get tougher from here on out...

Similarly, being in the GM chair on a PbP really allowed me to pick through player actions and how uncoordinated they are. People are slave to the initiative system, rather than working with it (or making it work for them)
For some bizarre reason people seem to think that the rolled initiative order is the one they are stuck with, as opposed to setting up their own desired sequence of events. A prime example of 'making it work' was the door breach to Goblin guardroom in the prison - rather than six people all going off at random, the simple sequence was followed and turned it into a two round job.
Was good learning on PbP GM'ing too, and how to keep a gaming trucking along - though that last one dragged (Thanksgiving and Dragoncon cost us pretty badly).
Overall though, shows the value of knowing when the GM can just skip through and assume the players have half a brain (like the bits of the Prison you could search and report as there was no 'threat', allowing a follow-up IF NEEDED) and also the benefit of players giving the GM a notional plan that they can roll out.
It also showed me how valuable regular posters are, they really keep things on point. I had a couple of 'occasional posters', they create more work if anything.

I agree 100% Shifty. Players have the ability to manipulate their order so that certain spells go off before the fighter attacks, etc. Invariably, one player posts "I cast Bless" and then the fighter, who is before the cleric, posts that he attacks. -- Dude, post that you delay so you get the +1. Sometimes I ask for clarification, but usually if people do not post that they are delaying, I just keep the order going.
Really, people need to learn to post in the alternative "If Player X is able to withdraw, then I cast Y. If not, then I will use my wand of CLW. . . ."

Yep.
It actually worked best when we got a clear ooc sequence sorted out and I pegged people in turn according to the list.
Because I as a GM was across what was going on, everything went in the correct order.
Door was opened,
Player with flashbang lobbed it
Point man entered and rushed the room,
Second man followed to his target
Others moved in to engage their targets,
Last person stepped up to the doorway to engage with ranged.
Went very fluidly.
As you say though, the players need to learn that they have to stop being shiny and special and pay attention to what their friends are doing. High end PFS play is a bloodbath. Elven Entanglement was a real eye opener as to how brutalcakes an L7 game is if you don't work well together. That said DMVoV handed the party its behind in RoW, wonder how they are going to get on going forward? :p
That said, wasn't all smooth sailing this pbp year, some good learning and some bad learning - and some downright annoyance at special snowflake players (it's a mixed bag out there guys!) but overall moving to GMing as well as playing has been pretty smooth.
The more the GM factors the stated strategies into play the better the combats run.

Amazing what happens when you add a little NCO insight and keep harping on the others, lol. I like dwarves for that role. Fits pretty well. ;) But, I would blame a lot of the issues on the implied nature of Initiative and the PbP get your turn as soon as you can set up. Honestly the group average versus monster avg would clear some of that mess up, while taking only a little bit away from the randomness of battle. On PbP it seems like giving up some of the table top rules is favorable for faster resolutions.
I have posted marching orders, squad tactics, and even suggested load outs, but it seems that steps on toes even though they play to the strengths of each class present. Oh well, can't have it all. Though I do wish people would stagger at intervals. Single file is so dreadfully outdated, lol.

Shifty |

Yeah I have SOP's that run when I play now.
No one opens any portal/item/object within 10' of another party member.
Point men travel 10' apart, 20' in front of the party.
When exploring a corridor, ONE member goes forward whilst the rest establish overwatch.
Spacing spacing spacing...
Initiative order is for n00bs, we set up the order of play, not the dice.
It just goes on.
Otherwise you end up with terrible wastage of resources, poor results in combat. The resistance comes from the 'shiners'.

Voodoo, what the hell was your excuse back then for forsaking us? Can't remember why Pitr suddenly found his romantic side...
Forsaking? I'm still here! lurking away : )
Pitr was always a romantic at heart. Scarves and cigarettes and Harrowing cards. He was totally bohemian beneath the jock exterior. and Swan was really hawt!

'Countess' Victoria |

Pitr was always a romantic at heart.
So is Vic, hence why the one eyed Captain was left dead on the docks.
That's just how it goes.
:p

Shifty is preaching to the missionary over here.
Now if we can just get MArek to stop eating Ogre hooks to the face.
