I'm trying to play the class RAW, but to do that I need a few issues cleared up involving reloading and the things that Stephen has said involving the Double-Barreled Pistol.

1) How do the Lightening Reload deed, Rapid Reload feat, and use of alchemical cartridges interact?

The Lightening Reload deed specifically states that allows you to reload A SINGE BARREL of a one-handed or two-handed firearm as a swift action once per round. Or that if used in conjunction with Rapid Reload or an alchemical cartridge (or both), that it allows you to reload A SINGE BARREL of the weapon as a free action EACH ROUND instead.

So, by my understanding of the way it is currently written, it seems like you only get to reload a SINGLE barrel of any weapon (eg Double-Barreled Pistol or Pepperbox Pistol) as either a swift action or SINGLE free action ONCE PER ROUND. Is that correct or can I effectively reload both barrels/all six barrels at once as free actions as many times as I may need to in a SINGLE round? Assuming my DM will allow me that many free actions.

2a) How does "Double Tapping" the Double-Barrel Pistol work in combat? "Double Tapping" meaning firing both barrels simultaneously to avoid ANY confusion.

Assume I have three attacks possible per round as part of a full attack action because I am level 11:

How many times can I "Double Tap" both barrels in a full attack action? Once for a total of 4 attacks, all 3 times for a total of 6 attacks, or 0 times for a total of 3 attacks because you can't "Double Tap" as part of a full attack?

2b)If I can "Double Tap" on all three attacks as part of a full attack, then do the -4 penalties stack? Making my attacks (using BAB only at 11th lvl) look like this: (+7/+7)/(-2/-2)/(-7/-7) Or is it a single -4 penalty across all attacks? For (+7/+7)/(+2/+2)/(-1/-1)

3) What happens exactly when you use Dead Shot with a Double-Barrel Pistol? Do you just get extra attack rolls to hit like you would with a single shot pistol, double the number of attack rolls because you could "Double Tap" those shots, or can you apply Dead Shot to both barrels as part of a "Double Tap" to effectively Dead Shot twice in one round?

4) How much does a single bullet and a single dose of black powder weigh? I need to know for weight restrictions.

I appreciate any and all feed back, but would really prefer if Stephen or another developer could respond if they have the time so my DM doesn't have to house rule it. :)

1) Lightning Reload is a little weird. It is hard to tell if you can reload as a free action multiple times or just once. However, it is pretty clear from Rapid Reload that a one-handed firearm requires a move action, and that using an alchemical cartridge reduces this to a free action. Meaning you can reload all 6 cartridges in one round.

2a) As the weapon says, you can fire the barrels singly or doubly. If you fire them both, both shots receive a -4 penalty. Since it says both barrels can be fired as the same action we can reason this to mean the same attack action that would be required for a single barrel.

2b) The weapon states the -4 penalty only applies to the shots made with both barrels at once. "and the pistol becomes wildly inaccurate, taking a –4 penalty to each shot." Not 'every shot.' For an example of this wording refer to Rapid Shot. "All of your attack rolls take a –2 penalty when using Rapid Shot."

3) This one is tricky, but since the Double Barrel Pistol says you can fire both barrels as the same action it would seem you could fire both and get to roll the appropriate amount of attacks. So in your 2b example, 6 rolls at -4 instead of 3 normal attack rolls.

4) According to the Inner Sea World Guide neither bullets nor black power have any weight.

Thank you, Scipion. You've been incredibly helpful. :) So, with what you've said, RAW, if I were to Rapid Shot and "Double tap" at level 11 (Using Rapid Reload and alchemical cartridges to reload as free actions) I'd get to make 8 attacks with a -6 penalty to all attacks, right? (-4 each time I "DT" + a -2 on all attacks for Rapid Shot) With each successful attack getting to deal normal gun damage 1d8 plus whatever and each shot getting its own to chance to crit or misfire on natural rolls of 1-2?

I thought gunslinger might be under damaged, but it would seem that if you can stay within first range increment and keep 1 grit pt available with Deft Shootist to avoid AoO, then you'll never really run into that problem except for damage reduction. Throw in Improved Critical with a DB Pistol and it seems like you'll probably be able to bypass DR at least once per round with a x4 critical and that's without having a burst property. Interesting.

Still a bit of a high feat tax though. I'd like to see something maybe a little closer to ranger with Combat Styles to help with that. I've seen it mentioned in one or two other threads and really think it would help the class out. Might not be needed, but I won't really know that until I actually play it. :)

The Pathfinder Core Rulebook says a standard coin weighs about a 1/3 of a ounce (50 coins to a pound). Since I can craft my own ammunition with the Gunsmithing feat, how many silver bullets do you think I could make by melting down a single silver piece? To craft an alchemical silver bullet it would cost the Gunslinger 3 silver pieces (3gp x 10= 30sp x 10%= 3sp)worth of raw materials. But I'm talking about just melting a silver coin down and pouring it into the bullet mold. Silver's melting point is only 962C and the average temperature of a campfire is somewhere between 900-1100C so it would be possible to do this. What do you think?

I could also make cold iron bullets for 2sp worth of raw materials if I had access to a forge?
