I saw a note that the Dragon pistol could fire either a slug or shot. What is the damage/Crit range when it fires a slug?

As listed, they are the same for both. The only difference between slug and shot is slug is single target and shot is cone.

Scatter Special Quality: A weapon with the scatter special quality
can shoot two different types of ammunition. It can fire normal
bullets that target one creature, or it can make a scattering shot, attacking all creatures within a cone. When it attacks all creatures within a cone, it makes one attack per creature within in the cone, and each attack takes a –2 penalty. If any of the attacks threaten a critical, confirm the critical for that creature alone.

So what your saying is that based on what is written the standard slug is massively inferior and not a valid choice as it suffers from less damage and crit range then other firearms for no apparent reason then the weapon has scatter descriptor and your only viable option with scatter weapons is the shot?

Consider it the cost of flexibility. And yes, scatter weapons are better when you use pellets for a scatter shot.

Oops, I missed mentioning the range difference.

The slug can hit further out - 10 ft. range increment (max 5 increments for a max range of 50 ft.) vs 15 foot cone (max 15 feet)

Also don't forget that this is a melee-centric combat system.

You can't selectively exclude friendlies inside that cone.

It's a trade between multiple targets and precision + range.

You can also only Dead Shot with slugs.
