Wow the lineup looks amazing..i cant wait for the article about Oni as well as info on the Crown of the World!!! I'm curious as to which deities will be featured in this Adventure Path-the only Core deities left are Torag, Shelyn, Norgorber and Irori. I'm assuming Irori's a given, but the other spot remains ambiguous to me-any thoughts?

I would be shocked if it was Torag. Shelyn might fit well, but then again Norgorber would make a perfect patron for Ninjas. I wonder who the titular Jade Regent worships?

The two deities being covered in this AP are Shelyn and Irori.
Which means Norgorber and Torag are coming next, after Jade Regent!

This looks actually really cool.
Thank you for lining up an antagonist that is right in the PCs faces from book 4 instead of saving them as a surprise for book 6. I'm definitely more into this AP the more info comes out.
Actually... there's a really good chance that the PCs will have a pretty good idea of the Jade Regent being the bad guy from book 1. It's book 4 that they really start running into the thick of it, though... but they're dealing with the Five Storms from the first adventure in one way or another.
There's only so much teaser text we can cram into the short little paragraphs above, is all.

Fantastic. It's been a running joke in our AP campaigns that either the PCs or the BBEGs start off by asking "Who are you?" and it will be nice to not drag that out of the box for another beating again. :P

So if Ameiko fails to take her position, do the players have to go all the way to Westcrown to bring Amaya to Minkai?
Amaya isn't directly in the family line. She's not a factor at all.
That said... details about what Amaya's role will be (it'll be VERY small) and how to handle things if Ameiko gets distracted or killed or whatever are all going to be covered in the AP.

All I have to say is the kimono sleeves have the seam in the back instead of the front of the sleeve. That alone is a huge win from me! :D
Edit: Read the installment blurbs! It reminds me, toward the end, of 12 Kingdoms - not in that it's the same, but that they'll inevitably touch on many of the same sorts of themes and imagery. If you haven't watched it, 12 Kingdoms is a great anime for a Chinese/Japanese fantasy exploring a uniquely Asian mythology. YOu might also find info on it under it's original title, Juuni Kokki

Come visit us Houstonians, I'll host a screening.
Maybe I"ll have enough room in my bags for Paizocon - I"ll bring just two DVDs to get you good and hooked! :D

Is there anything in this AP that relies on Ameiko remaining the same class she was in RotRl? I'm one of those guys who switches everything around when I run an AP...and I'd like to know ahead of time if I switch her around too much, will it have consiquences if I run JR with the same group?
The Ameiko in Jade Regent is the same Ameiko from "Burnt Offerings." She'll start with the same class levels as a result.
That said, there'll be some stuff in the Player's Guide that'll talk about an option where the PCs actually PLAY characters like Ameiko and the other key NPCs who'll be appearing in the AP, like Shalelu and a few others with ties to Sandpoint. In this case, the assumption will either be that the PCs are playing 1st level versions of these characters that may or may not follow their current in-print incarnations. ALL of the primary NPCs in Jade Regent will have a fair amount of art depicting them, in any case, so that might further limit what steps GMs might want to take in rebuilding the characters\0x1F\0x2014the new art for Ameiko, for example, shows her wearing leather armor and carrying a rapier and a samishen, so if she's not a bard in your game, that might be weird.
Honestly... switching classes around won't mess up plotlines NEARLY as much as would switching personalities, alignments, and characteristics. Ameiko's personality fits the bard/rogue mix very well\0x2014not so much paladin or monk or barbarian. And if you switch around her personality so that she makes more sense as a paladin or monk or barbarian, for example, that'll cause a lot more trouble in the "rewriting the adventure" department than just changing her classes around.

James...good to know. Most of what I do when I change things around is my difference in opinion on what class the presented personality should be. Mostly this has been an issue while converting 3.5 APs to Pathfinder (especially after APG and the ultimate playtests).
In that case... aristocrat/bard/rogue is as appropriate as a class combo as you can get for Ameiko! :-P

Sooo the Five Storms make an appearance in Chapter One..why am I thinking "Big Trouble in Little Sandpoint"
Well, there's already some Black Blood of the Earth in the setting...
"You mean oil?"
"No! I mean the Black Blood of the Earth!"
David Lo Pan would have to be the one of the most fun BBEGs ever for a hammy GM to use.

Just remember what old Jack Burton does when the earth quakes, the poison arrows fall from the sky and the pillars of Heaven shake. Yeah, Jack Burton just looks that big old storm right in the eye and says "Give me your best shot. I can take it."
And it's a 6 demon bag
Egg Shen: Can see things no one else can see. Do things no one else can do.
Jack Burton: Real things?
Egg Shen: As real as Lo Pan!
Jack Burton: Hey, what more can a guy ask for?
Egg Shen: Oh, a six-demon bag!
Jack Burton: Terrific, a six-demon bag. Sensational. What's in it, Egg?
Egg Shen: Wind, fire, all that kind of thing!

Egg needs the extra 3 demons for the AP as its going to be tough. :-)

Sooo the Five Storms make an appearance in Chapter One..why am I thinking "Big Trouble in Little Sandpoint"
Heh... it's true that the name of the oni was originally inspired by "Big Trouble in Little China," but the group works very differently. It's a whole huge organization, actually, that doesn't have 5 specific specialists in it. It's only got one real leader, but a lot of various sub leaders of various power levels. The "Five Storms" in question actually corresponds to the five elements in Minkani culture.

Do we know what sort of level this path will go up to?
We won't know for SURE until the sixth adventure is developed, because sometimes adventures come in with fewer encounters than we'd anticipated. My best guess is that by the end of the sixth adventure of Jade Regent, PCs will be somewhere between 15th and 17th level, though.

I for one can't wait for more info on Shelyn. Any goddess that uses a glaive has my vote for "I'm more awesome than most love goddesses!" :P :)
You'll want to check out the upcoming Faiths of Purity then.

Would it be wrong to ask an (to me) obvious question?
Looking at the world map, why wouldn't taking a boat be faster/easier then the dangerous trek across the actic?
Actually, just tell my that you do deal with this question in the first two adventures?
It might be a case of known vs. unknown - it's been previously established that people have crossed over the northern glaciers before, while boat travel less so.
Plus there's this big continent of Arcadia in the way going west, not to mention the ruins of Azlant. Going east up and over and through Casmaron and Tian Xia to Minkai is probably going to be faster.

Possible. But you know when this adventure hits the table, some one (like me for instance) would suggest it, and hopefully the GM would have some logical, in universe means of keeping the PCs from trying it.
