GM Abraham |
I've posted the slides for Curse of the Riven Sky. If you haven't already, please dot and delete in the gameplay thread. Please also fill in the relevant info on the first 3 slides:
slide 1: put two copies of your map token on this slide, one for single file, and one for double file formation. If you have a familiar or animal companion or mount please add their tokens as well. My preference is for tokens with a circular frame with no color, but don't worry if you aren't sure how to do that - I can do it for you.
slide 2: fill in the entries for your Initiative, Perception, Fort, Reflex, and Will, for yourself and also (separately) for any familiar/animal companion/mount. Your entry should look like this example:
{dice=MyPCName Reflex]1d20+4{/dice] +2 vs spells; evasion
slide 3: fill in the information I'll need for completing your chronicle sheets: Please post it on this slide, rather than in the Discussion tab (this makes it easier for me at the end to not have to hunt through the whole Discussion thread). Do post any needed die rolls (such as Day Job, or Faction Journal Card attempts) in the Discussion thread. If you have a Day Job, feel free to roll a second time and put it in the Day Job Reroll column. If you use your reroll during the scenario we'll just assume that that column entry is no longer valid. Speaking of which, as the scenario goes along, if you use your reroll please note it on this same slide, so we have an easy way to keep track of whether or not it's been used. Finally, I often find it hard to know now whether or not I'll want to roll a Day Job check or check a Faction goal or use some boon that is in lieu of the Day Job. Go ahead and roll your day job now and you can still decide later that you actually prefer to do something else that would have prevented you from making a Day Job roll. (In other words, making a Day Job roll now doesn't prevent you from deciding that you actually wanted to use a boon or make a faction check).
Let me know if you have any questions or if anything's unclear.

Hey Everyone,I have some unfortunate news. I regret to inform you all that we will have to postpone Gameday VIII by 2 weeks.
This would place our new dates for Gameday at: 09 Sept 2019 - 17 Nov 2019
WHAT IS GOING ON? WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?
As most of you are aware, the majority of the GM’s have not received their scenario support for the Convention to include a good portion of the Specials. With Tonya occupied by other duties this weekend, we realized as a team that we are very unlikely to see the remainder of scenario support drop by Monday the 26th. Multiple avenues were discussed and what seems to be the best solution is to push Gameday back by two weeks. This will allow enough time for the GM’s to receive their scenarios and prep them.
BUT WHAT IF WE ALREADY HAVE OUR SCENARIOS, CAN WE START THEM?
Please hold off until the new start date to be able to eligible for your boon rewards. I understand this is a large inconvenience, we are doing everything we can to make this work. Part of that is to have everyone one the same start / end times rather than scattered.
We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause, but we want all our GMs to have a chance to shine.
HOW DO I NOTIFY MY PLAYERS?
Go ahead and post the news to your tables. Feel free to copy this email if you wish. We will be posting notices in all the PBP lodges as well as the Gameday VIII Announcement page.
I know this is not what we hoped to do, and I’m sorry. Thank you for understanding that we’re scrambling to fix this.
If you have any other questions please don’t be afraid to ask.
-Tyranius
I'm one of the GMs in this boat - still waiting for my copy of the module - as annoying as it is to wait a couple of weeks to start, I'm also glad that I won't be having to start with only a day to prepare!

I plan to form a Lifelink on every party member (and up to two companions). If you take more than 5 points of damage, on my turn, 5 points of that damage comes to me (essentially healing you 5). The goal is to heal during combat to maximize buff durations and limit down time after fights.
Caduceus Via |
I have the 5 players, and two life-links left. I imagine the dragonfly mount could use it. Am I missing anyone/thing?
GM Abraham |
Martin Riggs/Luke Parry, please fill in your info on slides 5 and 6. Also, please add a separate alias and map icon for your Dragonfly companion.
Hector, The Flame of Liberty! |
Sorry to do this, but I’ll be away from tomorrow (Friday) through Monday with very limited internet. Please bot as needed.
GM Abraham |
For reasons that we need not go into here, and with the approval of Flaxseed leadership, Martin Riggs will not be continuing in this game.

No apology needed at all and appreciate the heads-up. However, due to life being pretty hectic right now, I wonder if another player would be willing to volunteer to handle botting Hector?
Also, I should mention that I'll be playing Tomb of the Iron Medusa tabletop all day on Sunday, and therefore will not be able to update this game that day.
Hector, The Flame of Liberty! |
How can one bot the Flame of Liberty?!?
Haha! Thanks, Heccan. I put up some basic attack and parry/riposte text in Hector's info, just missing the first brack [ on each line to make it easier for folks.
Gm Abraham - have fun in the Tomb. An all day run of that a few years ago remains one of my favorite PF experiences.

I'm back - and just a shout out to GM Abraham for dealing with all these combatants in such an organized way!

Sorry sick kid and 3 hours sleep. Can I Run while flying to get 4x60ft to close in? I can delay if it’s more complicated to do
GM Abraham |
Sorry for the posting delay, everyone. I went to visit my family and I thought I would have more time at odd hours to catch up on my games but I actually didn't. I should be returning to a more normal posting schedule now.

I don't believe - correct me if I'm wrong - that you can run (or charge) in any situation where movement is impeded, such as flying up (the Fly skill says that you fly up at half speed and you don't need to make a Fly check if you do so at a 45 degree angle, but if you want to fly upward at greater than 45 degrees, you have to make a DC 20 Fly check).
GM Abraham |
Btw, I feel I should mention to everyone that there's no chance that we will be done with this mod by the end of Gameday (Nov. 17). It was probably always ambitious to try to do a whole mod within the scope of that time frame, but as it is we are still really only in the first part of the whole module. I hope that's ok with everyone, and I'm happy to just play it out for however long it takes, but I wanted to mention it in case anyone has plans for these PCs for after Gameday is over.

No problem with me, I assumed this one would take a bit.
Hector, The Flame of Liberty! |
Hector isn't under any time constraints, so not a problem for me at all.
GM Abraham |
Hi everyone,
My apologies for the slowdown in gameplay. Real life has gotten the better of me the last several days. I hope to resume shortly (even later tonight if I can get to it).
In the meantime, although we are very far from completing our module, we've been asked to report all the Gameday VIII games before Nov. 17, so as soon as I get a boon roll from everyone I'll go ahead and report our game (if someone perma-dies or you don't earn full prestige etc. I can always edit it later).
So, for now, will you please give me a boon roll? Roll a d20 and you win on a 19 or a 20. If you get one, roll a d3 to see which boon you've won.
GM gets a boon?: 1d20 ⇒ 18 So close, and yet so far...
Also, please check your info on the slides (slide 8) and make sure it's correct (e.g. whether or not you want to be slow or normal track) since I'll do the reporting from that.
regards,
GM Abraham

Just a quick reminder for everyone of how I do knowledge checks:
* If you hit the DC, you can open the spoiler, which will normally tell you what the creature is, what its typical alignment and type/subtype are, and often something flavorful lifted from its bestiary text.
* For every 5 by which you beat the DC, you can ask for one category of information drawn from the list here. The link for this list is also in the campaign info tab for our game, and should show up for you as part of the entry for this game in your campaigns list, so it should be easy to find. Let me know if you're having trouble finding it though and I can think about other ways to make it readily accessible.
Following this will make it easier for me to process your requests in a straightforward way so thanks in advance.

Just a note that I am headed out of town for Thanksgiving and will have very limited internet, so bot as needed, although currently doesn't seem like an issue. For those celebrating, I wish safe travels and too much food!
GM Abraham |
Sorry for the long delay, everyone. The holiday week got the better of me. Returning now to our regular pace.
GM Abraham |
I'll be GM-ing the conclusion of Eyes of the Ten all day tomorrow - likely won't be able to post again until Sunday or Monday.
GM Abraham |
I'm curious how you all feel about the question of the GM rolling saves for the PCs, vs you rolling them yourselves. I much prefer the former, because it makes it much easier for me to process the turn and leaves less for me to remember that I need to go back and take into consideration (such as: if I wait for you to resolve the saves yourselves, then I also need to remember who I have and have not resolved Caduceus' life link for). On the other hand, it makes it more complicated with abilities like Hector's Charmed Life, or your ability to use rerolls (though I feel like these can also be handled through the use of spoilers). What do you think? I've obviously been doing it the former way throughout the adventure so far, as is my typical GM style, but this past round I did it the other way for your Reflex saves, and now I'm wondering if you all have a strong preference one way or the other. If no one strongly objects, I think I'll go back to doing it the way I was (i.e. the GM rolls the saves, except in those circumstances where I feel it worth pausing the action for the player to resolve themselves) simply because it makes the action flow much more smoothly for me.
Hector, The Flame of Liberty! |
I'm fine with you rolling it inside spoilers and letting me decide whether to add charmed life or inspiration to it independently. I'm learning how big of a pain swashbucklers can be in PbP. I fear 2nd Ed will be hard as well with all the reactions and such . . .
Caduceus Via |
If it is a 'save-heavy' game, Pbp can certainly come to a crawl waiting for all parties to roll. I trust that the dicebot is out to get me no matter who types {dice=Caduceus fails at XXX]1d20-49[/dice], so keep on chugging.
anen tyln |
I have no problem with the GM rolling saves, perception, sense motives, etc. as a time saver.
