Well, I've reached a major milestone: After *finally* obtaining, assembling, and populating my mini shelf, I decided to "have at" my minis and books. So I used the lead testing kit I obtained earlier this year, and learned to my dismay that pretty much ALL of my minis from my childhood games were lead. Into a ziploc hazardous waste bag. *sob*. Then I rearranged my gaming shelves and...
...my APs finally take up more than one shelf! Woo hoo!

Anyway, let me know if you want 2-3 pounds of ancient lead figures in bad shape; otherwise off to wherever it is lead goes they go.

(Yeah, I know lead figures aren't THAT much of a risk, but we have multiple kids under 3 over every month, so swallowing IS a risk, and then I have a bunch of teenagers every week and they're going to be messed up enough without any additional exposure to lead, thanks...)

Perhaps sell them to a scrap metal dealer?

I called the hazardous waste people, and they said the lead content was so low (under 15%) and the amount so small (under 5 pounds) that no one would want it. They're having a "hazardous waste" event in my city in October and he said I could drop the baggie off there, but he was honest that it was just going to go to a toxic landfill; no one would bother with it.

List them on EBay or something. I bet a collector without kids could be interested.

I say, it's almost like looking in a mirror. Hold on, it appears I have some lint on my shoulder. Damnitall, why is it not brushing off? Stand still, me, I can't see where the lint is!

I sit absentmindedly at my computer sneaking glances over at my purchase; a pair of black leather boots that will look absolutely stylish when I wear them this fall. Of course the thought of a Hazmat Fest has me giggling and that distracts me back to the computer again. What would a Hazmat fest even look like? People all showing up in their latest hazmat suit fashions? What events would there be? Seminars on the latest material handling techniques? Games involving hazardous materials? Films about past spills? And of course the exhibit hall filled with the latest gadgets. Perhaps they would even do a special event where they spill something dangerous at the festival and let everyone have fun containing and cleaning it up! And the food? Five alarm chili Texas style?

Why am I thinking about the new Fallout game now? Hmmmm...

I was playing FO:Shelter, and you know how if you put opposite-sex dwellers in the bedroom they'll flirt for a bit, dance, and then procreate? I zoomed in to see what cheesy lines they were throwing at one another (always good for a laugh), and the girl was saying "...just please don't take off your shoes." The best part? She was wearing an outfit that had a SARS mask as part of it. The photo is priceless!

According to my dream barghests and gargoyles are recolors of each other. barghests were golden while gargoyles were blueish.

OK, now you have me all intrigued. I'm going to have to go to the Hazmat Fest, just to see what it's like.

I hope they have balloons. I like balloons. Especially hazardous ones.

P.S. Shiro's player, almost never the voice of reason, asked, "Why don't you just buy some good spray-on primer and prime all of them? Then there's no problem touching 'em, and if the kids haven't eaten any so far they're unlikely to eat 'em now."
So my minis are saved! Once I convince NobodysWife to prime 'em all.
NobodysHome and paint do not mix... well.

You realize that I'm now going to go to anchorage first thing, get the stealth armor and spend days squatting in the corner of people's houses because of this don't you, there goes Saturday:-D

By the Atom, man! There ARE toilets for that sort of thing! They're not just a cheap source of rad-filled water, you know!

Went to Taco Johns last night, and now today the world will pay, or at least the part that's directly around me:-D

(Also, it was on Shelter, not 3, so you're not gonna see it that way. But Shelter IS free and really fun, so I'd get it if I were you.)

You don't worry about niceties in the capital wastes, you take what you can and blow up the rest.

Too late it's been established!

Also i barely have enough data on my phone to get me thru a month anyway and i've never been a big fan of playing video games on my phone, but now i do want to listen in on people tho, i know in Skyrim they can say some hilarious stuff:-)

debating whether i want to shrink my comic thumbnail resolution from 150dpi to 128dpi since the latter is my actual screen resolution so I wouldn't have to fenagle with print size and actual pixels size.

(I look at print size a lot to be sure that my comic layout makes sense at that size)

Don't you have wi-fi at home to connect your phone to internet without using data limit while you are there?

You can play it offline. You only need internet to download it and patch it.

We have cable internet, could get a Wi-Fi connection thingy but honestly I forgot, if I sit on my back porch I can pick up Perkins Wi-Fi tho, might give it a try, of course then the kids will want to play...

They expect me to work 15 hours, in one week! Oh well, just gotta power thru I guess :-)

I'll work, but I won't work hard :-)

I'm trying to decide whether I should get FF VII on my iPad. I got FF VI, and I really enjoyed it. The only problem I have is that they seemed to emulate the controller on the screen, and I kinda hate fiddling with a lot of controls on a touch screen.

In a week?! I sometimes have to work 16 hours in a day and still I am only paid for an 8 hour shift... sucks to be salaried some days.

"The shocking pagan origin of CHRISTMAS!"

animal sacrifice (really, ritualized slaughter and subsequent eating, more humane than the modern meat industry I would argue), idolatry and veneration of womanly figures, oh the horror!

Went to go see a my friends' band play in Ithaca last night. Unfortunately, I neglected to realize that it was college orientation week. It ended up being me, my buddies Shore Acres Drive, and about a hundred loud drunk college-age hipsters packed into a very dark basement. After the first two bands had played, I'd had enough of listening to inane conversations and banging my head off of the ceiling, and bailed. Ended up spending the night sleeping in my car in a parking lot in Tully. Didn't I write a song about this?

College girls? They're like a decade younger than me. Plus, I've already got enough problems dealing with Betty and Veronica here in Syracuse.

Pea Bear's first day of school is September 1st

in my dream i met a professor who had a beast (a giraffe i think, actually I don't think it was a giraffe) who he used some kind of magic/technology to disguise into a human that he claimed as his son, and he was utterly convinced that the animal should have been human in the first place and that he was doing the right thing by transforming it into a human (with the mind of an animal).
