As I said before, verbage is really, really, REALLY important with Kickstarters. It really sounds like these guys did not know what they were getting into and made it sound like a preorder. I'm sorry you are out your money guys...that's beyond frustrating.

Indeed. A particularly unscrupulous individual or even someone with Axis 2 issues could use it to wreak havoc. I'm sorry, Spanky.

I never actually gave any money for any of them; I was bitten shy many moons ago, before this Kickstarter s~!# ever got invented.

It just steams me, some of the goings on is all.

I really like the inner sea world guide reading it while listening to pink floyd.

Thank you both! ;)

Yes actually, Stage Combat is one of my occasionally useful hobbies. I am a true 'Master Thespian'. I even have a Masters Degree in theater. ;)

Which means I am indeed, (wait for it,...)

A Jack of all Trades and Master of none! ;P

On the other hand, it rained today, again. (South Louisiana, big surprise!) So yet another day I didn't get the yard mowed. <Sigh>

Well, I wouldn't want it to be Completely FAWESOME, then what would I have to look forward to tomorrow???

Nighters FAWTL-ies!
:)

Sorry to hear that Spanky,

OTOH, my lil brother and at least one of my college buddies seem to be very pleased with the Kickstarter projects that they have backed. Multiple game projects that have all seemed to turn out very well so far. (Meaning that the product was eventually produced and teh promised level of backing awards received.) I played a couple of the games my last visit this summer. Some fun lil games that might not otherwise have seen the light of day.

Not to say that everything always goes golden. At least one major project is still not out yet, (ergo the promised level rewards not yet obtained) But as it is from one of the popular/major webcomic authors it still seems fairly safe. Just taking a while. :S

But I'm with you SPanky, I'm cautious, even when I DO have money to spend. (Which is NOT often!) :(

Annnd, good night for real this time!~ ;P

OotS?

Saw some talk about Kickstarters. I've only ever given to one, myself. I think it was the Starlit Sky thing that our esteemed fellow FAWTLy was working on. Didn't really need a product. I just wanted to help a friend.

Scarab Sages

But that's why I don't give to most of them, because I don't know those people.

Scarab Sages

In other news: GOOD MORNING FAWTLY Folk! Happy Monday! It looks to be a bright, bright, bright, sun-shiny day here in Philadelphia.

I give to a lot, and I expect to be burned by about 25% of them. It goes with the territory. But, as a collector, I dig those 'only to patron' pieces.

Scarab Sages

Driving in to work this morning, the guy on the radio was talking up WWE Smackdown, only I thought he said "Smack Noun". I guess that'd be wrestling for literary types. You could have characters like Conan the Librarian.

Scarab Sages

CROM!

Scarab Sages

Hmmmm....I think I have a new alias.

Scarab Sages

Nevermind....Not Surprisingly, that name is already in use.

Thankfully, I don't collect gaming stuff (except for Paizo stuff) or I might be in the same boat. My collection addiction is comics - has been for damn near 30 years, and even that I'm starting to dial back.

Scarab Sages

My wife claims her schedule may soon go back to something more normal. I'll believe that when I see it.

Scarab Sages

As is, since she had to go in to work yesterday, I've got to take off work early today so I can cut grass. Starting the pay period off an hour behind is not my idea of a good start. Damn sub people.......

Scarab Sages

PATRICK!! WHERE DID YOU GO?!? DON'T LEAVE MEEEEE!!!!!!

Scarab Sages

Finally started work yesterday on a map for a short adventure that I may submit to that Wayfinder thing - The Sea Wizard's Tower.

Scarab Sages

Still can't get on the internet on my home desktop. IE just won't work. I click on it and nothing happens. Weird. Yet, we can connect to our wifi on other devices without a problem. Like I said, weird.

Scarab Sages

And no, I don't use Firefox? Is that what it's called? I'm guessing now that it's some other kind of browser.

Scarab Sages

Personally, I liked the Clint Eastwood movie of the same name. Very different from some of his usual stuff.

I'm here, I am just getting ready for sleep phase II *yawn*

Working as 3 am sucks ass sometimes

Scarab Sages

Speaking of Clint - he's acting in a new movie. He's gonna play an aging baseball scout. I can't recall him ever doing a baseball movie before. Should be interesting.

But, I'm free till 3am tomorrow

But I'm dog-ass tired

Scarab Sages

The last movie he was in front the camera for was Gran Torino. That was an excellent flick.

And running on 3 1/2 hrs of sleep

My boss is in a fury.

I have heard this term before, and often wonder where it came from. How did someone know how tired a dog's ass was? How do you measure something like that?

Scarab Sages

It's questions like this that afflict my poor, tender head with hurtings.

I told him: 'Next year don't hire rich kids just because their parents are good customers."

Half the problem is the parents. They want their kid to have a job more for the college resume bullet point than to make money. Then they take a bunch of summer vacations (vacations from their summer on the Cape, must be nice)

Little punks. The two of you should find a few of them and kick their asses, as a warning to the rest.

OotS?

The OotS kickstarter is one that I am glad that I put in for. Rich has done his best to keep everyone up to date and he has been honest when there have been delays.

OTOH, I also can see how the Kickstarter program can be abused.

Scarab Sages

String one of them up from a light post!!!

Speaking of measurements, I didn't know this but besides the metric scale, the French revolutionaries put forth a bunch of new time and date measurements. How f*%+ed up would that be if Europe had adopted that as well? Then there'd be different hours, and days to convert. It boggles the mind.

Relevant wiki link for the curious

Of thank f~$%'s sake that never happened. It's bad enough I've always had to deal with two systems. Although I don't see as much of the metric these days as I used to.

That was almost my reaction as well, but she was holding a frying pan when she said it and I didn't want my poor, tender head to be afflicted with bashings and thrashings.

Yeah. It's hard enough figuring out the Hegira dating in Arabic. Still on a lunar standard, those lunatics =P

I'm in a sleeping mood, so I will bid all of you adieu until @12pm EST. Ciao!

Like me, she's a mechanical engineer working for the Navy. Except she works exclusively on submarine issues, where as I work on anything that uses steam in some way.
