One of the chickens had disintegrate cast on it, it fell off the bones as I tried to extract it from the crock pot. The other came out relatively intact, but all of it was pretty tasty. I have leftover carrots (YUM!!!!) and cheesy broccolli (sp? I think I have too many consonants there) and the [redacted] really annoyed the party, interrupting the king's performance a few times before [redacted] escaped to cause trouble some other time.
Then...disaster struck. I was scooting my chair back from the table to get up, and I smashed down my poor kitty's tail. :( the game came to an end as I had to get her to the emergency room, poor thing.
The vet thinks it's just a fracture or bad sprain, as she was moving the tip by the time we got to the emergency room, and there's no broken skin or evidence of serious problems. Shes on pain meds right now, and in isolation in my bedroom so the other cat doesn't pick on her while she's a little bit out of it with pain meds.
I get to give her her meds tomorrow. This will probably end with tears and blood...all mine.
Ah well.

I'm sorry about your bruised kitty, but I'm so glad she wasn't hurt worse! Cats sometimes get into places they really shouldn't.

You can't stop what doesn't start.
I had left a trap for you, FHDM, in one of those threads that shall not be mentioned. You either didn't see it or didn't deign to comment, but I felt robbed of the chance to say:
You can't stop the signal, Freehold!
so, I'll say it here.

Too late, signal has been sent.

Just in case anyone was wondering I was a good five miles from any damage. Of course they predicted the damage to be five miles from me on the other side of us. Still it was hours and hours until we got the internet or cable back. just in time for another storm to pass by. I did get to sleep and had a nice day out with the wife. Watched Hugo and finally got to see the new version of Fright Night.

Not to mention watching Game of Thrones and last Friday's Grimm. I love GoT. I could do without certain scenes but damnit they throw so much subtle stuff in on those scenes that even uncomfortable I have to watch it. Speaking of Subtle, Grimm is being very, very close to the chest on so many things. I can see how good the show will be, I just don't want to wait for it.

So my husband left today for his field season. He'll be gone for 3 months studying puffins, kittiwakes, and storm petrels on gull island. It's gonna be a long sad 3 months.
Ugh! With everything else going on the timing stinks. Be sure to get out and socialize and good luck on the job search front. Hang in there and don't hesitate to lean on us to help you get through this.

While I am curious about what you posted as a link, I could not view it because I don't do Facebook. Just thought I would mention it. It appears I am not the only one here that doesn't do Facebook either.
Yeah, actually it's been so long since I used Facebook, I've forgotten my password. So I kinda can't log in even to see photos anymore.

patriot day?
Today is a Massachusetts 'holiday commemorating the 'shot heard 'round the world' . In 1775 militiamen faced off against the evil British Empire in the Battle of Lexington-Concord in the opening skirmish of what would become the Revolutionary War
Nowadays, it's mostly a hack holiday for federal/unionized workers and when they run the Boston Marathon. Since I work in a hospital, and they get a paid day off, there is no work. I dont tet paid, but i do get the day off, so now it's time to get some chores done. It's already 70+ degrees here (!!!) so it will be interesting to see how that marathon goes down.

Also, was it poor form to yell out, "Iceberg! Straight ahead!" on the deck of the Long Island Ferry on the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic?
I was talked out of it...
especially with the memory of the not too distant crash in people's minds, I'm glad you were talked out of it.

Ah yes Patriots Day in truth it is mostly a Boston Holiday because of the Boston Marathon most businesses in Boston give you the day off especially in and around Back Bay. Those of us who work outside the city don't have that benefit ... only the benefit of less traffic and streets near my house closed which allow you to get from one side of my town to the other, very annoying yesterday when trying to come back from church. I mean the marathon is today not yesterday not sure why they were cordoning off the streets at noon yesterday.

Perhaps if he changed it to Public viewing instead of Friends, which could be part of the problem.
Get with the technology, luddites. No one communicates with a string and two tin soup cans any longer. ;-)

How long will it be before there is a Tom Brady Day that's recognized by the State of Massachusetts?

hmph. We'll see if you are still singing that tune when facebook finishes drilling its tentacles into everything. And not in the good way, in the bad way.

For all the dips queueing up for a seat to watch the runners stream by! Why I'll never know. GL to them in that heat!
