Naked award ceremonies are a good way to lose rank.

TOZ wrote:
Good morning! I'm still awake because they chose not to excuse the night shifts from their stupid award ceremony, which is at 3PM. XP

Is it a formation-style One? Or just a medal-slinging one? I hated the formation ones, they were such a Pain. Clerks march very badly , and headquarters always looked ate-up marching out onto the parade field. And standing at attention for hours in triple-digit heat? Feh feh and feh again

Shadow Lodge

I won't know until I get there. I believe it will be an indoor formation thing.

Actually, it has been pretty cool lately. Winter is coming blah blah.

Also, you'd be amazed at how readily people will hire drifters to do handyman-type work in small-town America.

Cool. I'm glad to hear it, Shiny.

As a drifter, you might also be in position to thwart evil bank officials from illegally foreclosing on the homes of widows and orphans. At least that's what TV tells me.

Mine's been telling me that there are monsters out there that want to eat me and a select few, special individuals who hunt them down.

Also, that there's some really weird science going on out in the world, and our only hope is Denethor & Pacey.

I have discovered that 345 am Phone calls from alarm services are not a fun way to start a Saturday

Hi Patrick,

hopfully nothing serious with the alarm call?

No, just the wife's store. She got all dressed to go in to deal with the police when she was called and told the alarm was tripPed by their business roomate Dunkin Donuts. Which is why you should never trust mass-produced pastry/coffee shops. They are evil

Reason #2. Reason #1 is their coffee sucks.

I guess you have had a beer with each of us. Now, if you could get Hugo to come visit you in Houston, that would be all of us. :)

It wasn't bad unless you compare it to the original. But BB is a hard act to follow, so as long as you don't expect it to be as f#&*ing great it's not a horrible way to spend an evening.

I will find a way to have a beer with VPHD.

Yes, the hide thread is doing wonders for the boards. Now everyone can enjoy the type of fun they enjoy! Yay for everyone!

I must admit, however, that there are things I miss about the old ways. Like AZ's parody threads, or CJ calling me a bastard. But if it's preventing others from freaking out, then I must say: hats off to the moderators!

Yeah the parody threads were kinda fun, but they were just a reaction to the frustration. I am much happier arguing politics on FB where it belongs =D

Well, that goes without saying Leafy. Their doughnuts also suck, which is actually a shame because way back when before their corporate metastasis, DD actually made a mean doughnut. Now it's mostly frothed-in air. Bite one and it collapses like a party balloon.

Actually, I like their coffee. Then again, I am a tea person. Who do you think has better coffee?

Dunkin Donuts stuff:

Yeah, around the time they started branching out into bagels and whatnot it became clear that DD had joined the ranks of McDonald's and Burger King. Which all have their place (I'm no food snob), but DD was something else back in the day.

I worked for them one summer and I'd run into people who liked their coffee and asked me what made it so good. Twice the amount of cream and three times the amount of sugar turns out to be the answer.

Vphd sounds like a highly communicable disease... Why would one want a beer with that? Unless of course there's a vaccine of some sort.

We serve New England Coffee at my place, and most folks seem to dig it. I don't drink the bean brew myself so I cannot attest to the quality, but I have heard many a coffee drinker b!!%@ing that DD's coffee is way too acidy these days.

Yeah, and their 'flavor shots' which are actually sugar-based, so those with diabetes should beware of ordering them. That makes your black coffee sugared.

I don't agree with the meme that corporations are all evil and junk, but I do wish that those in control would realize that cheapening their product is in the long run a bad way to go.

At some point, businesses cross a threshold where they become immured to the desires of their customers, and this leads to a disconnect among the higher-ups, who are often brought in from other businesses or business school. Maybe every exec should have to spend at least a year running a shop before they can take their spot in the headquarter's office? If I had a corp, that's what I'd do at least.

Also, they're pretty pricey. I mean, the thing I like the most about the fastfood burger places is the value menu. Five bucks for a coffee and a sandwich isn't much of a deal at all, you can get that it in greasy spoons.

The guy I carpool with makes me stop there every morning and then is always scrounging for change by the end of the week. It's like, dude, buy a coffee-maker!

Just for the record, I still like Dunkin's donuts, especially the donut holes. Mmmm......

I also like Krispy Kreme, but only if I can get them fresh.

My all time favorite used to be McKenzies down in New Orleans. On occasion, in my youth, I used to walk from my house to the nearest one and buy 2 or 3 glaze donuts.

Yeah-my boss is real good about his prices. He hasn't raised them since 2005. You can get a meat/egg/cheese sandwich any way you like, fresh made with regular ingrediants and a 20 oz coffee for $5.76. No microwave involved, and an actual egg, not some premixed eggish thing.

Like I said, I'm no food snob. Under certain circumstances (I bet CC can guess which ones), I can eat a dozen glazed donuts, no problem.

So tell me AZ, are those begniet (sp?) thingies as good as everyone says? They are supposedly a NO staple pastry, figured I'd ask.

A circumstance I am about to enter! I need some imagination nitrous. And FTR, DD's doughnuts are still somewhat tasty, they have just cheaped out their ingrediants, much like the candy-bar companies have..

Fun sized??? WTF is THAT? Nothing fun in a 2 oz candy bar IMHO

Beignets are really good, especially with chicory coffee, eaten at Cafe Dumonde on Decateur St. in New Orleans after a night of heavy drinking...
