Guys. Guys. Guys. Guys. Guys. Guys.
I have been playing SO MUCH of Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
I haven't been sucked into a game like this in YEARS.
I have wanted a Pokémon game like this for AGES.
I was also reading about this yesterday! Unfortunately someone was complaining about it being a rip off or something? Apparently not all fans love it as much as you. Any idea why this might be or is this just some clickbaity faux outrage article?

Okay, so I know exactly the article you're citing, I read it last night 'cause it popped up on my phone. The author actually did clarify, in the text, that they enjoyed the game for the most part.
The article is complaining, specifically, about the game's inventory system.
You start with something like fifteen or twenty inventory slots, and the game functions much like Breath of the Wild - you gather up crafting materials for making things like PokeBalls, Potions, and Lures, as well as things like Berries and Evolution Stones and so forth, while out traveling the world and exploring. Each inventory slot can hold only one type of item, but the numbers of that one item can be high enough I've never hit it.
(For example, if your twenty slots are filled with PokeBalls and you find a Berry, you won't be able to pick it up. But if you buy or make another PokeBall, it'll just go in the already-filled slot with that kind of PokeBall in it.)
There's an NPC in town who will give you an extra inventory slot for a fee. But every time you purchase a slot, the next slot is more expensive. It starts at $100 of the in-game currency, then increases by 100 until it reaches $1000, then it increases by 500 until it reaches $3000, then it increases by 1000 and I haven't made enough money to get past the $8000-cost slot. Apparently, according to the article, you end up spending right around $4 Million in-game currency on slots if you buy them all.
The complaint is mainly one or both of two things - one, that in 2022 we are still having games with limited inventory (which, admittedly, makes sense in a game like this, IMO) and two, that the cost for increasing that inventory space ramps up so quickly and severely (which this I do agree, it gets very expensive very fast).
So TLDR version? Article had legit complaints and good reasons to make those complaints, but hyperbolic title gives the impression that the game is full of headaches despite the text saying the author enjoys the game but has quibbles with one specific function therein.

So in other news of my time absent, Scint and I started a YouTube channel!

We're currently playing Final Fantasy V and talking about the first Harry Potter book, but we have a couple completed segments from before the new year if you want to watch something already finished.

Orthos! We missed you. Or at least I did.
Thanks =) I've popped back on the site a few times looking things up but was really bad about making the time to actually come back here and post. Got semi-regular updates from Scint when interesting things happened, though I'm clearly out of the loop on some of the more detailed stuff.
Apparently Stuff Happened here (more Paizo as a whole than this specific thread) while I was gone.

Apparently I had acute parinychia -- watch out! The picture is pretty gross, but mine was significantly worse. It required outpatient surgery.

The depressing, disturbing thing is that if you have decent insurance around here, you can drive out to the "Rich People's Hospitals" in Walnut Creek and get MUCH better service. My day yesterday:
(1) Called in to my primary care physician, got a same-day appointment with a nurse practitioner. His suggestion (I kid you not) was to superheat a paper clip and put it through the fingernail to relieve the pressure. Thankfully, he wasn't willing to put this medieval idea into practice so he sent me upstairs to see a specialist, with instructions to return if the specialist couldn't see me this week.
(2) The specialist's office had only one person who could deal with such things, and she was out this week so they sent me away, recommending urgent care or an emergency room.
(3) The NP was in a "very long" appointment so the receptionist sent me to an urgent care place in Oakland.
(4) The urgent care place in Oakland was closed due to COVID. In pain and demoralized, I drove home and found an urgent care place in Walnut Creek.
(5) It was all of a two-hour wait (ludicrously short around here), for which they all (even the doctor) profusely apologized, and then I got a guy who specializes in this exact kind of treatment training a resident. My favorite line: "Given the severity of this infection, what would you do?"
Resident: "Send him to the ER."
Doctor: "Are you kidding? They'd totally botch this! They have no idea what they're doing! Watch and learn!"
The treatment was painless. There's been no pain since. I can return to work tomorrow (and I'm typing well already). At my follow-up this morning the doctor said it was doing "far better than I expected."
Drove to Walnut Creek. Got phenomenal treatment. It's that sad. (And yes, because Walnut Creek I got to watch one anti-masker storming around the hospital insisting she didn't have to wear one, but eventually her husband got her to put one on because they were in the process of cancelling her appointment and having security escort her out.)
EDIT: I mean, honestly. If a hospital insisted I had to wear monkey sock puppets on both hands for the duration of my treatment or I wouldn't get treated, I'd be sporting some sock puppets. If you're in someone else's home or place of business, you follow their rules, whether or not you agree with them, or you leave. You don't make a public scene. Unless you're an a**hat.

Did I count those hours right? You were scheduled for 19 hours of work in a row?
My snow route takes about 19 hours with a foot of snow or more.

From OSHA's own FAQ, "Presently, no OSHA standard to regulate extended and unusual shifts in the workplace exists."

Pmuch this. As long as they give you the requisite breaks and time between shifts, everything else is up to the employer.

The number of times Scint has come home with stories about how her students don't know anything of the pre-millennium culture or references has gotten beyond counting.
If there's not a better way to note the passing of one generation to another, it's when major parts of one's life, upbringing, and formative influences are completely unknown and alien to the other.
